Pop vs Wilderness Lodge?

OK, right now I have pop for six nights, I can get WL for $100 more a night, is it worth the extra $100,

Pop - seems like the pools and having a pop jet water area is better than WL's. On the other hand WL is a MK resort which is important to us too.

Trying to justify the extra $100 per night.

Any thoughts helpful

How much time do you spend at your resort or are you planning to spend there?
WL has a pool slide, sit down restaurants, a more relaxed atmosphere, and other recreational activities, besides being close to MK
For us, we always choose a moderate or deluxe, because we are resort people. We like going back to the resort for "down" time, we didn't feel we got that when we stayed at ASSp.

I agree with weluvpluto. It depends on how much time you are going to spend there. We are resort people. too. Love coming back in the afternoon to relax, nap and swim before heading back out for the evening. I will tell you WL is an awesome resort. Everything under one roof is really a plus. Sit down restaurants are nice to have at the resort. If you are going to spend a decent amount of time at the resort, I would say go for it. Wait until you walk into the lobby for the first time.

We Have Stayed At Both Wl And Asmo...and Save Your Money! We Loved The Food Court Much Better, Room Smelled Older And It Was A "hair" Bigger! But Your Money Into A Themed Character Meal Or Two! We Love Crystal Palace And Chef Mickey.!!! Have Fun!

stayed at POP this past jan, and had a blast there. ds8 loved every bit of it, as did dh, and myself. the pool has the spraying flower during the day and the other kiddie pools are fun too.(one is just the flat soft surface that spray random) the only thing it didn't have is a playground but isn't that what the parks are for ?!!? we found POP to be fun, and exciting and put us in to the total disney mood. we are going back in jan of 2007 and we will stay at POP again.

As you can see below we usually stay at deluxes (and yes we are resort people). Just thinking about saving some funds this time as we are also booked at AKL. I have been to WL and really like it, it still seems pop )even though value) has better pools and the pop jets vs WL which is laid back.

I was just looking for opinions, (I believe I've already decided in my mind).
Man being close to MK is huge though, I've got the classic what decision on what resort to stay at.

I thought I'd never be undecided.

I'm doing Pop & AKL too, 3 nights at POP & 5 at AKL. I needed to save a few dollars if I wanted to stay 8 nights so decided to split the stay. There are moments that I'm unsure about the decision, especially as I read some of the negative comments but I think the positive ones outweigh the bad.

What about splitting the stay? We didn't have a good exp at Pop, so it's a no brainer to me in what I would choose - we won't stay value level again, just not worth saving the money. That being said, a lot of people swear by it, so perhaps you could stay half and half and decide for yourself, and get both the beautiful resort stay and the Pop stay? They are so different!

we're splitting between pop and akl... the akl portion is a surprise to the kids

i think it depends on what you want in a pool and the ages of the kids... pops pools are not spectacular, no slides or waterfalls or over-the-top theming (yes, they are themed and very nice but not *amazing*)... that being said, our family loved pop and cannot wait to go back

I believe that is the whole key the more I think about it. Because everyone is so different (that's a good thing) we have to stay (once anyway) and try it, then you will know. It's kinda like trying food for the first time. I thought for sure I would never eat Broccoli, but once I tried it I can't get enough of it.

I have stayed at POP 2 times now and absolutely loved it both times...that being said, we have decided to splurge this trip and stay at the WL...I hope it is worth the extra money!!! I figured since it is just the girls trip...leaving dd's and dh at home, taking mom on her first Disney trip...I would put out the extra money...I hope I don't get too spoiled...DH loves POP!!!

We were trying to decide the same thing. We do not like all the walking in the values & moderates to the food courts & pools. The other thing that is swaying us is the long walk at MGM to the Value bus stop. We only do the parks in the morining than stay at the resort all day & maybe back to the parks at night. Right now it the WL but it could change.
