POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

I was just at Pop last week. I cannot say for certain but I got the impression that building 2 remains to be done, plus all the reports I was reading before I left said that buildings 1 and 2 remained to be done.

I witnessed refurb work in progress all along the 4th floor of building 1.

If you are interested in the 50's buildings, request building 3. That is what I requested and I got a refurbed room. That building is complete.

Thanks, that's what I did - requested Building 3 of the 50's.

But, I have very little faith that it got added to my reservations because the CM told me that the request was already there :confused3. I sure would like to know how they knew what I wanted to request before I knew.

Oh well, just have to wait and see and just be happy that I'm at Disney and not at work no matter what room I'm in :goodvibes

I know this was asked earlier, but I don't see an answer... Does anyone have a completion date for the complete rehab of POP?

The short answer is no. Disney has not given a completion date. Some CM's will tell you on the phone that there isn't a rehab going on right now. :confused3

I think all that's left is building 2 and maybe just one floor of building 1.

I am at Pop right now in building 3 got a king size bedroom and its wonderful!

Thank you so much for sharing with pictures, I will be there on my Honeymoon Nov28-Dec02 and i so want a king bed room. Have not seen one with new refurb room. What room # number are you in! I put my request in for a king bed anywhere in building 1,2,3 the 50's. i love the 50's section.

This is just a guess, but I will be surprised if the refurb is not finished by the end of October. I actually expect it to be done a little sooner. It sounds reliable that all buildings but 1 and 2 are finished and that they are pretty far along on building 1. Even if they spend a month on one building (I really doubt that) it should be done by halloween.

So,

Well
Just arrived home after 16 hours of flying.
What to say, after 14 days at WDW(1st time), I already miss the place :'(. even more knowing I will be not returning anytime soon. Of course I will be not bothering you with this, rather with some info which might be helpful:

Requested King-bed+60s+not ground floor, got a normal room in 60s, after asking about King bed room availability we were offered a king room in the 70s, which we accepted, it was room 6222, which was very close the the classic hall(not more than 5 min walk). Room was refurbed.

I have not walked much around POP, so I have not seen any workers doing any rooms

Our room looked the same as on the photos of PixieDustandEeyore, apart that it was mirrored(bed, bathroom,TV on opposite sides as on the photos)

Also, We had the AC controller with the motion detector, it was somewhere here on a photo, nonetheless our room always cool enough..

PS: on the 1st photo of PixieDustandEeyore, in the bottom left corner, there is this "thing" which couldn't figure out what is was for, it was this Foldable stand/holder with black bands.

That is a luggage stand.

did I post this already? I really think I will miss the "entertainment units" that sat up on the dressers. there were all kinds of "cubbys" , shelves. to put many things. ie. (for those of us who drive down), crackers, loaves of bread, bags of chips, boxes of donuts, etc..
guess Disney doesn't want you to "settle in" any more.
the less you 'settle in" your room, the more you spend money in the food court

While the new ones do, only have two big drawers, there are a lot of cubbys. We used hanging organizers (1 for each of us) and used the entertainment center to store stuff. I used one of the drawers for snacks and one for the girls activities. Then used the cubby spaces for electronics, guide books/other info, and we still had spaces empty.

subbing....wanted to keep up-to-date for our December trip. we are only spending 2 nights at POP, so not a big deal, but my Dad will be with us, so we thought it would be great to be in the "50's" but of course, we want to make sure all the 50's rooms are rehabbed if we make that request. We also have a preferred room booked, and I will request 1st floor, as my 7 yr-old DD is battling leukemia so we don't need to deal with upper floors and getting to our room.

Thanks for all of the updates that keep this thread going. :goodvibes

I'm so sorry that your DD is battling leukemia. I hope this trip is just absolutely wonderful for your family.

Have you contacted Disney's special needs department? They can make sure your DD has a ground floor room if you have any concerns about not receiving one. I suspect Pop is going to be quite crowded in December and if it were me, I wouldn't want to take the chance that one might not be available.

but, see, now you need to use these cubbys for slothes, instead of the missing drawers.

the old units were like "combination" units. 3 big drawers, or 6 small drawers. then the tv sat inside a cabinet. on the side of the tv were cubby type open shelves, all encased, so there was a total top shelf, to put all kinds of things. (flat screens are never "encased", so you lose all that space on top).

No, I didn't realize I could do that. I guess I will call and ask for this "special needs dept." on Monday. Thanks for taking the time to post and suggest this. I would not have thought of it on my own, & if it guarantees us a first-floor room it will be well worth the phone call. Thanks!! :thumbsup2

I didn't make a note of the exact TV size. It was a decently-sized screen though. My guess is they are 32" inch widescreen, but I am not certain.

I was thinking about that same size. We just returned last week and I was wanting to get one and I thought that the tv was just the size I would like.

Here's the link to Disney's page:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plain-text/

It has the phone number you can call. :) I would also suggest that on top of this, you fax the resort a little note as well letting them know what your daughter's needs are. If your daughter needs any medication that has to be refrigerated, you can also request a medical refrigerator. My oldest son has some special needs and Pop provided the refrigerator for free so that we could keeps his meds cold. HTH! :goodvibes

Just back from a great 10 day stay at Pop. It was excellent and all my requests were honored. We had a refurished room and it looked like they were working on two more floors across from the bowling pin pools. Any questions, I will try and answer them. Already planning our trip for 2012.
