POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Tammi - I have been there in February (2009) and that was one of those times it was FREEZING! We didn't really expect super warm so we didn't have shorts, but we were wishing we had more long sleeve shirts & hoodies and gloves & hats!

Honestly, this sounds like a cop out, but you really just have to wait until about 10 days before and start checking out the weather forecasts. I don't think February is ever SUPER hot, so you will probably want to stick with jeans/capris & t-shirts with a back up long sleeve & jacket.

I have been to Disney several times in March, and it can be pretty up in the air. One particular March it was really hot. That was in 1990. Another March it was very mixed. You will unfortunately have to wait til the 10 day forecast... its hard not be pack I know. But, last winter was abnormally cold. Hopefully this winter will be more normal which is warm but not hot. My son went to college in Florida and didn't bring any warm clothes, just shorts and t-shirts. Maybe 1 or 2 pairs of jeans and 1 hoodie. He's optimistic. :thumbsup2

Weather is Feb and March can be in the 70's or in the 30's were there in Feb this year beginning of the week it was in the 70's end of week it was in the 30's really cold, but been there in March in the 50's to 70's I brought both long and short pants, and sweatshirts too. Was down in Sept to beg of Oct 90's going again to stay at Pop Dec 11-14 first time in Dec

We are going for 10 days around Thanksgiving :cool1: and my MIL is going with us. She is going to have her own room but requested a connecting room with us (I made all ressies) - now she has told my 8 yr old that he could stay in her room with her - so my question is are there connecting rooms at POP where both rooms have double beds? :confused3

Most resorts (I think) have king/double connecting rooms.

Thanks for your help!! :thumbsup2

Last year in the 70's section I had a connecting room with my neighbour and we each had a room with double beds.

I ended up in building 2 for a few days. They were power washing it the morning I checked in and they were working on refurbishing the rooms. We were in room #2223 and it was not refurbished.

I requested a new room as my one request was to not be in the 50's section with the smokers. I was moved over to the 70's but there still were a lot of people that decided that they could smoke anywhere they pleased. I even had an asthma attack on the way to my new room because someone decided that they could smoke anywhere they wanted.

There are marked smoking sectopns, but also be aware the CM's tell you that the whole walking path around the lake is smoking as well. At least they told us that on every trip we've gone.

That being said, I too, have witness smoking on the upperfloor walkways. I think some it is lack of communication though. If I didn't read Dis, I probably would have no clue where or even that there are designated smoking areas. I would just assume being outside was good enough/ I know my DH tends to want to light up anywhere when he is outside, and I always guide hi to the smoking areas, especially at the parks. He has gotten a lot better now, but the 1st trip with him, I had to remind him over and over.

I could be wrong (because I never got joining rooms) but I think I read in the posts last year that all joining rooms were doubles and the Kings did not join to other rooms.

I agree that this is not correct. We once got connecting rooms where one was a king and the other was two doubles. In our case we did not want this and they moved us with no problem.

Thanks for confirming....As I said, I've never gotten joining rooms, just thought I read last year that joining rooms were all doubles.

So.....I take back my post! Sorry!!

Can anyone tell me if the refurbs are completed. When I called Disney last week I was told the only construction going on was across the lake at the new buildings.

I would like a refurbished room for our trip, but am unsure what to ask for.

HELP!!!!

I think they are close top done, but not quite yet. The CM's on the phoe have no clue. Most will tell you there is no refurrb even taking place

HELP!!!!

It's been several days since we heard any first-hand reports, but from last reports the only building remaining to be done is building 2 in the 50s. Building 1 may also have lower floors left to complete, but they may also be done at this point. If building 1 is done then building 2 may be underway.

You can request any of the other sections in 60s-90s, or building 3 in the 50s, to get a refurbed room.

Just curious....We are getting a preferred room (in less than 2 weeks). From a couple of maps I've seen, Building 2 in the 50's does not have preferred rooms. If Building 1 is complete, will I definately get a refurbished room?

Thanks to all for the information. Yes, the phone ops seemed clueless about it.

We are looking forward to our first POP stay.

Correct, building 2 does not have preferred rooms. Buildings 1 and 3 in the 50s do. I have yet to hear a report that all of building 1 is complete with refurbs, but, there's a good chance building 1 done is completely done already, or will be done in two weeks. Upper floors are already done, and they were working their way down.

If you get a building 3 preferred room, yes, it will be refurbed. Those are all done.

Also, just to add...sounds like you've requested a 50's building? There are also preferred rooms in the 60's and 70's.

I have not walked near the lake, now I will definately not. I was walking the route the CM that checked me in told me to take so I did not go near the two smoking areas to get to the food court. One is just outside the main door at the back of Classic Hall and the other was the area before the pool. I was told to walk along the back side (not pool side) of the Lady building 1. They were doing construction and that area was closed off so I had to use the front of the Lady building (pool side) til I got half way and then switch over to the back of the building.

Once I was moved over to the 70's there were still people smoking near the Goofy Pop Jet and outside the food court (opposite end from the smoking area) and many more areas away from the DSA.

I didn't request anything except preferred and connecting rooms. I want refurbished, but connecting is more important to us. I knew that the 60's and 70's were done. Thanks for the info! :)

:lmao: nothing to do with POP, but a year ago we checked into boardwalk villas. we saw a whole big section had scaffolding on the outside.

when we checked in, I asked the CM (at the front desk, mind you, at check in) if they were using these rooms, because we did not want one. we wanted to be able to use our balcony. ... she looked at me like I had a third eye, and told me there was NO construction or painting going on. no scaffolding.. um, yes there is, you can't miss it when you drive up... CM"no, there isn't".:rotfl2:

(turns out they weren't using these rooms anyway, but it was hilarious!!)
