POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

I just got off the phone with Disney. The CM informed me that there are currently NO refurbs going on at Pop right now. I said "well I'm pretty sure they are painting, adding new mattresses, dressers and flat panel TVs in all of the rooms", to which she replied, "no, they did that about 2 or 3 years ago." I said are you sure, and she said yep we always get notified of refurbishments. Guess somebody missed the memo. AMAZING. Are the CMs REALLY that clueless...wait don't answer that! :rotfl2:

Yes they are that clueless. I made our February ressies and was told by the CM that the refurbishing was totally done and all rooms refurbished this past July. um...ok

They honestly have NO clue!!! They told me that too!! And it was supposedly the manager on property!!! What!! Also when I called to put in a room request, I asked for building 3 lake view...and she said there is no lake at the Pop resort!! bhahaha:rotfl:

I'm just catching up on tihs thread - thanks for all of the great info and awesome pictures! The refurbished rooms look great. We're staying at Pop in January 2011, and I have a question for all of you Pop experts:

I asked for connecting rooms on my reservation, and will follow up on that during online check in. Do all of the connecting rooms have double beds in each room, or are there some sets that have double beds in one room and a king bed in the other? Is this something I can request? I'd love to get a king for DH and I and two doubles for the kids.

Thanks for your help - DIS peeps are the best!!! :cool1:

Also, where are the preferred rooms exactly? What buildings? Thanks DISers!!!

Since Mauigal slipped her response in before I did... I'll just delete my partially helpful info, since she actually found the link. Thanks Mauigal :flower3:

This is just a guess, but knowing that out of 2880 rooms, only 144 are kings, there are a total of 720 connecting rooms. Those king rooms that are connecting, do connect with double beds, and I THINK that all 144 king rooms are connecting, but there are just really not that many and assuming that there was no one requiring handicap accessibility whose request would outrank yours, the odds are 5% that you'd get a king room at all. The odds are 25% that you'd get connecting rooms.

You can always ask, however I would be surprised to see you get that request, though not surprised to see you get the connecting rooms request. Even if you don't get connecting rooms however, if you get rooms back to back it is literally 5 steps from one room door to the other, or even less if they are in a "facing" pair (like 59 and 60, the doors face each other).

There is at least one connecting room for sure that is double on one side and king on another. We got this combination once although in our case we didn't want it. We were able to change rooms and still got connecting rooms. I'm sure if there is one then there are more. Ours would have been in Bldg 2 in the 50's.

;)Thanks for the responses, everyone! I am more concerned with getting the connecting rooms, as one ressie is in my husband's name with one son on it and one is in my name with another son on it. I did link the reservations together, so hopefully our request for a connecting room will be honored. If not, DH and I will have to sleep in separate rooms because we sure as heck can't leave the 10 and 8 year olds alone in a non-connecting room - even if it is right next door!

If I don't get preferred...will I regret it?? Are the non preferred a long walk from food court and bus stop?? I would like a refurbed room...so if getting preferred ot not getting preferred makes a difference with getting a newer room, I'd be interested in that too.
Thanks!

No walk is that bad really.
No it doesnt make much a difference preferred vs non for refurbed rooms.

OK...I've made a ressie for Pop...now I just need to cancel my ressie at ASMo. I think I made the right choice!

i just got back from my 2 week vacation staying at the Pop, and it looks like most the rooms are refurbed done, while i was there they did and had done building 4, bottom floor, it was done in like 3 or 4 days.. then the day before we left (sunday) they were working on the top floor in a building by our room, not sure which building, but our building was 3, and from what i could tell it was all done.. i booked a preferred room, and i got exactly what i wanted, poolside, close to the classic hall, ground floor. and in the 50s... it was great..

Wow, and this was a manager. I really think the CMs need to be better informed!

Well, they try their best! Sometimes I think Disney doesn't know what is going on!

I think you might want to ask for adjoining rooms. I know there is a difference, but I can never remember which is which. One has a door between them and the other is next to each other.......Anyways, these questions should probably be asked on the Groovier New Pop Thread (read the 1st page, it wil ltell you all you need to know) . This thread is supposed to be about the updates to the refurbs.

Does anyone have any information on the refurb to the 50's Building 1 and 2? Has it been started, completed or in progress?

Thanks.
