POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

Kelli, so glad everything turned out well! Looking forward to meeting you!

Love,
Gail

eeyore45, if I could I would take your dd down to Disney World when we go but my husband barely let me keep our kids let alone any others. I have a grandson who is scared to death of flying and is so relieved when his folks pick a place they can drive to for vacation. I can tell you from my experience that trying to force someone to do something that they are truly afraid of can cause far more trauma and problems. In other words, she could turn out as seriously disturbed as I am and I would not wish that on anyone. I just do not know what to tell you. I have had some success in getting a child over his fear of storms by reading books to him about weather and how it works. Maybe some books on how planes work and explain how sometimes they act like roller coasters (if she likes RC) but that does not mean anything is wrong but that the pilot is trying to make the plain old boring ride more fun? Fear is just not knowing.

I tell my students that the teacher is more scared than they are cause there are many more of them and it would be good to be nice to her to help her/him get over being nervous. Only two scared students? You done good gal!!

keliblue, sorry you lost your counter! Bet you still know how many days though. I got a lot of stuff done but have much more to do before Tom returns home Saturday afternoon. I just might stay up tonight and see what I can do but I probably would go brain dead and do it wrong. :scared:

SG/Linda

I know I told you before, but I have a 10 year old (11 in Nov) who doesn't like planes also. She LOVES VMK and getting VMK cards in Disney is one thing that helps her get on the plane. Does your daughter know about that? If you think my DD talking to your DD may help, let me know. (They could PM each other) Then she would have a friend to look forward to hanging out with on the 22nd.

SG? Linda - I promise, I learnt that lesson very well - I've learned to let it go, and not force her (it was as dentist office - and I thought a little guilt, or subjective talking could help her, boy was I wrong!) I'm hoping to call on the higher power with her - she did great the last 3 times we flew to Disney!!

LorilieMarie - THANK YOU!! I will take you up on your offer!! Another Dis'er is IM'ng her too - she has been trying for months to get a VMK name, she gets in on a guest pass, then they reject her names!! She's very frustrated about VMK but really wants to figure it out!! I'll PM you!!

The Tickers will be back on the 1st of Sept - he always loses the tickers the last few days of most months due to high volume - but they are strong for the first part of the months!!

Hey all... checkin in to say hello.... I can't believe we have approx 3 weeks till we all are preparing or already on our way!!

So glad to hear you're ok Kelli....now I am back off to finish the 10 more custom outfits for my boys that I have managed to put off until now :scared1: Freaking out a little!

Yay Keli! :cool1:

Were you worried they would find blood vessels in the shape of a hidden mickey from being on this board too long? That's what I would worry about! LOL
Seriously, I am sooo glad you are ok.

A bit of better news here too--my MIL had surgery today to get her non-functioning kidney to function, and so far so good.

IF she can still go to FL, we are contemplating having them fly down instead of driving with us. (caravan-ing)
SIL is for sure thinking about flying if MIL/FIL don't go. Only problem - we have around 2 weeks before we're supposed to leave. MIL won't even be out of the hospital this weekend. Sooooo nerve-wracking.

I am hoping to get back to packing soon. This has been a crazy week. :sad2:

lutherlovr, you DO realize that you are the sort of mom that makes the rest of us look bad? I made my oldest grandson a ghost costume for Halloween once. To be fair it was his request and he loved it. I can paint, wallpaper, lay carpet and patch plaster though. :cool1:

DisneyMom5, I think you are right. Kelli is afflicted with Hidden Mickey Syndrome. HMS is better than PMS. I have found that when they fix a broken part the patient bounces back so fast because they were so sick to begin with. I think flying is probably a good idea though. I would choose that if I could but I do like having a car.:)

eeyore45, I had not understood that dd had flown more than once. That makes a big difference and I bet talking to someone, her age, who has the same fears will be a great thing and both girls will be looking forward to meeting each other so much that the flight will go much easier. I feel so much better now. I was really worried about her. Life is rough with phobias. :dance3: My big one is animals and all the animals that are loose at DW have zippers up their backs.

Slightly Goofy/Linda

3 weeks from today I will be on a plane to Disney World!!!

Yeah!:cheer2: And all of you will be there too! :cheer2:

Now it is time to do the more serious packing!

Am I a bad mom? I started on my poster lastnight and asked DS13 if he would do the writing on the board since his handwriting is better than mine  He told me he would do it after he finished his report for school. I asked him what's more important, my poster or his school work :rotfl: I know, bad mom.

Keli, I love your smilies. 2 more weeks from now I'll be on my way to see Mickey. I hope no kids are in my way when I see him cause I don't wanna be responsible for what may happen :rolleyes1

DM5, glad to hear your MIL is doing better.

I took my change in last week. That's the boys spending $$. Made the ressies for the van, ordered the MNSSHP tickets, bought a new camera that I've been playing around with. Next thing is to take my cat to the vet tomorrow for her shots, and make the ressies to have her boarded. 7 more days to work :cool1: I will enjoy this 3 day weekend and try to get as much rest as possible.

I got up late today. Since I was pretty much sick all night I deserved to sleep in. Better to get it out of the way now than getting sick at DW. Last trip we spent two whole days in bed too sick to even watch TV and that is sick!!

minnieandme, I hate three day weekends. All they mean to me is work and more work. I do not do as much as I used to though. Hope the poster AND the homework came out perfectly. :cool1:

LorilieMarie, when you arrive I will be about half way through our trip. Glad to share some of the time with YOU though!:cheer2:

keliblue, the car is all clean and oiled and ready to go. Only has 5,000 miles on it so it should get us there and back. :thumbsup2 The luggage is all laid out on the pool table. The ladder is ready to take to the garage. Things are moving apace here. It has not rained all summer so I do not have much yard left to mow. No use in watering anything as it will all die while I am gone any old way. I hope a neighbor will eat my produce though as I hate the idea of it all going to waste. I talked to the nicest CM this morning trying to tweak a few ADR's. No luck but she sure was nice. Do you have lots left to do?

DisneyMom5 , I hope that your mil is up and walking and able to eat, drink and potty. All the basic requirements to go home as I well remember. I used to give my food to my dh. Worked for me!! ;)

Have much computer work to do today. Am making a c/d of all the restaurants and their menus, prices and pictures of many of the foods included. Once I get them all done, much later than this trip, I will gladly share them with anyone that wants them. If you like the idea please email the mods and ask them to include the same on the Restaurant thread. It was another DISers great idea but it was shot down.

Later, Linda Lou

Good morning Linda Lou:hug: at least it's still morning in California;) .. Yes, I have a ton of stuff yet to do:sad2: I am trying to coordinate getting two children (okay so they are 18 & 22) on a plane out of Oregon with all the nessasary's for Florida... please pack more then one pair of underwear. One is driving up from Crescent City (700miles away) the night before and should arrive around 1am only to have to get on the shuttle van that is arriving at 4:30am to take them to the airport for a 6:30am flight :sad2: aahhhhhhhhhh :scared: I just FREAK OUT when I am not in control !!! They are so laxidazical about it.. "Don't worry Ma... It's all Cool" If I hear that one more time :headache:

I'M GO'IN TO DISNEYWORLD !!!!!

I am so happy that I am going to get to meet you all :grouphug: Doctor said that my brain is normal but I am wired differently then others:scared: I was born without the main artery that supplies the blood to the back of my brain:eek: BUT my body compensated for it over the years and made its own path:angel: Where there is a will there's a way :yay: . I do have some guide lines that I have to follow.. I have to wear a hat in direct sun :cool2: . And no Roller Coasters... I can live with that:cheer2:

I will be flying to the University of Min. after vactions for more extensive testing..

I always knew I was a little strange !!!:sad2: ;) :rotfl:
Ohmygosh, we knew it!!! I'm so happy to hear you're almost normal. :p

I cannot believe how close we are getting. Just three little weeks from now I'll be jumping around the living room screaming "I'M GOING TO DISNEY" and staring intently at our nicely packed luggage.

:goodvibes

Yay for everyone, especially Kellie!

I just had to post so I could see how many days we had left to go! ;-)

My DD13 started packing 3 days ago. She's always the way in advance packer! Me, I'll still be checking and rechecking and taking stuff out because it weighed to much, on the day before! Actually, I'm hoping the litte PackingNazi will get me packed ahead of time. ;-)

Always ;-)
Hunzi
woohoo it's getting closer!
