POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

She's so fat! HOW FAT IS SHE??? Haven't worn a bathing suit in over 5 yrs. Just too scary for small children and animals. I have, however, purchased every color/pattern of Dockers skorts I could lay my hands on. At least when I sit down, my thighs don't look like sausages trying to escape their casings!!! Menopause the musical is alive and well and living in ME!!! Have so far managed to miss most other symptoms (ok a few night sweats) but I think I gain weight in my sleep!!! Sorry if this is TMI!!!

OMG ... I just sucked water up my nose.. You have all the girls in my office howling right now:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: We (the office girls) are all between 40 & 60 and ALL are in the midst of Menopause:scared1: The men around here RUUUUUUUUUNNNN !!

"MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL is alive and well living in ME"

what a great name for a stage play staring Bette Midler

OMG~~I just realized I have 35 days to go!!:cool1:

Kind of having a rough day today. A really good friend of my DH is missing up North. He is a pilot & took a friend of his & his son to go goat hunting up above the arctic circle. Steve (our friend) dropped his son Mickey off at the camp to get set up (his son is 17) and then Steve & Eric went flying around to see if they could see any goats in their hunting area. This was Monday night. Steve & Eric never came back to the camp. Mickey is 17 and stayed at camp for 3 days waiting for his dad to come back. Today a small plane was flying overhead & Mickey waved them down & they came & picked him up & flew him to the nearest town. I can't imagine camping out there by myself for 3 days just waiting for my dad. We are all really nervous that something has happened to Steve & Eric because we know that he had a satellite phone on him & he would have immediately called for help if something was wrong & there is absolutely no way on earth he would not have got back to his son. I guess search & rescue is up flying around right now trying to find Steve & Eric or any sign of a plane wreck or something.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone!:grouphug: I had a pretty good day! I only have one more year untill I turn 30 tho:scared1: Kinda scary!

I am a large, thick, fluffy, valuptious woman and I NEVER wear shorts in public when I am home but you can bet I WILL be in shorts in WDW! No doubt about it! I refuse to be miserable. When I am here I get breaks from the heat so capries are fine but NOT THERE....were talking hours of park (heat) time. SO ITS SHORTS FOR ME!;) and little tank tops too hehehe...if you dont like it LOOK AWAY!!! Ok now Im gonna go eat some cake and ice cream:rolleyes1

Well said!! I totally agree. At first, I was a little self conscious thinking I was going to wear shorts & tank tops this year. Then my DH decided he wanted to go to TL & BB. I was like there is no way I'm going to wear a bathing suit in public...I've FINALLY come to realize that I had a baby 9 months ago & this body is never going to be the same, but I better start to accept it & be proud of it. If no one else likes it, then they don't have to look!

:rotfl2: WTG Utahwendymama!! :woohoo:

SG/Linda I love your posts!!

Becky - DH and I were talking about vacations for next year - he really wants to climb a mountain (he did Ranier last year - this year its all messed up!) and he says, he really really wants to go to Alaska - and I said, oh Becky AK will be at Pop at the glow party and she says her dh invites people to Alaska all the time - I'd better warn her if he invites you - YOU'D MEAN it and go!! :rotfl2:

he said " How close are they to the mountains?" :rotfl: I'm telling you, its been his dream to go to Alaska - then Ireland!! Its his "mid life crisis" this "climbing mountain stuff" I can live with that because mine is Disney!! :rotfl2:

I am going to have to update my blog & start posting some pictures. I'll try to work on it this afternoon. We are really close to the Fairweather range in SE Alaska. I think the peak is 14,XXX feet. Denali (the tallest Mtn. in the U.S.) is up near Anchorage which is about a 1 1/2 hour flight. I'll glady help you guys plan a trip up here if you'd like...can't wait to meet you guys!

OMG Becky! I hope everything is okay, that is soo scary. My thoughts and prayers are with Steve, eric and there families...please keep us posted on any updates.

37 more days for my family! Geez, I remember when it was over 60.

I'm working on the countdown chart and need poster board to complete it!

The good: Virgin Airways has announced a free dining offer for UK guests for next year. Dates are August 10, 2008 through September 27, 2008. Booking begins August 23, 2007 and runs through November 6, 2007. This is how it began last year, folks! :woohoo:

The bad: Unless Disney makes some major changes to the 2008 DDP between now and then, those gratuities and appetizers will be coming out of our pockets. Goodbye Le Cellier, hello Trail's End! :sad2:

The ugly: This offer is only for moderate and deluxe resorts--all value resorts are excluded! :scared1:

I thought he was talking about Denali - but that sounded like some town in India - I really should pay more attention!! DH's eyes light up when he talks about Alaska - -

How sad about Steve and Eric - have you ever read Hatchet? Its an amazing survivor story about a 6th grader (I think) who was flying to see his dad and the plane went down in a remote area of Canada - the pilot died, the plane submerged - he was able to get out with his hatchet - truly a great read!!

I remember like yesterday I was celebrating because it was under 100 days!

34 days for us. =]

Happy Birthday Farrah, I hope your day was magical.

Okay, we're also thinking about buying one of those thin lime green poster boards.

What do you think would be the best way to attach it to the door? Something sturdy.

Well, we found out tonight that the Alaska Army National Guard located Steve's plane. It had crashed & both men died. Very sad. At this point it still kind of feels unreal. I was planning on going back to Oregon on Sunday but I think I'm going to stay here an extra few days so that our family can go to the memorial services. It's just a horrible accident and our community is so small so everyone is affected by it. And poor Mickey, I can't imagine how he must be feeling after spending 3 nights alone waiting for his dad to come back for him. Just so sad...

Yep, I read the book Hatchet when I was a kid. It was actually one of my favorite books growing up. I thought of it today when I was waiting to hear what had happened.

Michaels sells lime green "DUCK" tape...But it may leave a residue.

Does anyone know for sure if the doors at pop are metal? So a magnetic-backed wipe off board would be fine? If not, I have this totally cool Miss Piggy wipe off board I can hot glue some ribbon onto and hang it on the door knob? Humph...I can't remember what people do with them.

Becky...Im so sorry. I thought about this situation alot last night after reading your post. I Told Dane about it too. I will keep Mickey in my Prayers.

becky_AK, just too much to comprehend. I am so sorry for that young man but I do hope that all the time he spent with his father doing such things together will give him some comfort. It is hard to know what risks are worth it and what are not and it is different for each of us. I do not have to worry about my dh cause he once in awhile 'thinks' about walking more than ten feet but that is far as it goes. The inactivity is killing him though. Better to go out in a blaze of glory than to fizzle out maybe?

UtahMama, the doors would have to be metal. Nothing else would hold up in that humidity plus I am sure there are fire codes etc. I have been worried about some of the things folks are thinking about doing as I can see the residue being a problem in having to repaint etc.

thunderbird1, sounds as if it is getting easier and easier to not go to DW next year. This years plans are about to wear me plumb out. I love Disney but the stress is harder when you get older and have it all to do alone. It just is not worth the time, trouble and trip for five days for me. I always did think the FD was not fair to the mods and deluxe and I happen to be a Values person.

You younger gals can get away with more than I can. Partly cause I am older but mostly cause I am required to file an environmental impact statement before revealing any body parts at all. I did not even do so when folks would have paid for the privilege  but then folks might pay to have me cover up now! The only time that shorts make me cringe is when they are way too small or tight and make matters worse than they might have been but then red lipstick and deep black hair dye on someone over 50 does the same thing. Usually such folks are perfectly nice looking but a bit deluded. I might be too. Who knows? :rolleyes1

The good thing about vacations is that you are not likely to ever meet most of the people ever again so even if you make an indeliable impression upon them you will NEVER know! It is a great time to try out that new hair color too. :scared1:

Dinner party day today. I am prepping the Baked Alaska right now. Made the cake layers last night and am softening up the ice cream now. Hard work. You would think with all the 'hot air' around here that it would go faster though. :rotfl2:

Don't feel bad, I'm wearing tank tops myself and I refuse to let anyone see how big my arms are. I guess when you're on vacation and around people that don't know you, you kinda feel better about it. I bought quite a few tanks a few months ago and they're hanging in my closet with the tag still on it. As for shorts, I don't wear short shorts like I use to, so I have Bermuda shorts. Those come down to your knees.

That's why I go swimming with a tshirt on. I've always been self conscience about my body, even when I was a size 8-10

:grouphug: Sorry to hear about your friends. I can't even begin to imagine what the son is going through right now.

I'll be hitting the dollar store this weekend to see what else I can pick up for the trip. Someone mentioned Michael's.... I'll have to run in there to see what I can use to decorate the door and windows with. 28 days left.

BTW, has anyone else received their vouchers yet?

I thought I ought to explain myself (as if that were possible) .

It is only myself that I am critical of, not others. I admire those who do not wait until they achieve perfection to live their lives. Way back when I took my kids for swimming lessons there was an extremely large woman who was also taking lessons and she was my hero. I never got to tell her that though. :sad1:

Change is difficult and I have done so much of it the past few years. Still have a long way to go though!! :cheer2:

Sending you lots of :grouphug: and prayers. Everything will turn out okay.

s:grouphug: Keli Lifting you in prayer!! Hold on!! Glad you have a weekend getaway!!

Becky that is terribly sad!! There are no words. I'm sure you will feel better staying and going to the memorial.

My boys are heading back to college - hope they survive - they are sharing an apartment :faint: I told them its a "bad idea" Hope that means they are determined to prove me wrong!! :rotfl: (yep refurse psychology!! It is ds last year so maybe it will be ok)

DD is taking her American Red Cross Babysitting class - she is hoping to find a ... trusting soul to practice on!!

Trying to decide if I should go to my mom's tonight, or wait till tomorrow, Friday traffic can be brutal!!

How much can you trust people on this site? So any single ladies wanna join me for dinner i have room for an extra person each night let me know i have lecell steakhouse open 3 nights

keliblue, I am delighted to hear that you are taking the weekend off to be alone together. I hope the brain scans come back with some good news. You surely do deserve it.

eeyore45. the good news is that if your boys room together they will know what they are getting AND if they are like most siblings they might tattle on each other too! I think it is lovely that they would even consider such a thing though. Hope it works out well for all concerned.

The bread is ready to put in the oven and the rest of the food is all organized and ready to go. Now I can clean the bathrooms! Oh, joy!!! Dh took off for the day. All this work was making him nervous. Poor thing.

SG/Linda (aka The Little Red Hen)

Little red hen!! That's cute!! DH is the bread baker around here - too hot for homemade bread tho !

I totally understand what you're saying about the shorts - now didnt we have this conversation about swimsuits pages ago??? I wear 'em, I dont look in the mirror - when or if I do, I am ashamed... or like UMA fat and fluffy is the new thin!!

DH keeps reminding me I'm in training for that Jan marathon, and he says I have to get up early on Sept vacation to "run"/train.... :faint:

DD is driving me crazy - whe wants me to find her someone to babysit!
