Hi all. We will be staying at the Poly for the first time at the end of August. DW is concerned that the pool size does not appear to be too big in the pics we saw online. And she is concerned that there is only one other smaller quiet pool. We are not excited about the thought of going to the pools with our kids and it will be nothing but a bunch of arms and legs everywhere. :scared1::sick:

Can you please share your experience and/or thoughts about pool size and crowd at the Poly? Thanks.

The pool is small for the size of the resort. OUr daughter loves the resort pools with the exception of the Poly pool because t's too crowded.

We were there 7/7-7/12, and it wasn't as bad as I feared. Yes there are people in the pool, but it wasn't shoulder to shoulder. I found the quiet pool to be the best - less crowded and much quieter!

We've stayed at the Poly four times over the years including August 2008 and 2009. We have never had a problem with the pools being too crowded. The quiet pool often has only a few people in it. Last year we went to the quiet pool one afternoon and there was just one little girl swimming while her mother watched her. Boy was she glad to see my kids come there so that she had someone to play with.

When my family and I stayed there in December 2007 we didn't have any problems finding pool chairs, however that's because we always went early and I do remember it was crowded.

It's not that bad

We are DVC members and we pool hopped over there one sunny Wednesday afternoon in July (it's allowed...we were staying BCV on points)...I thought the place would be packed, but it was not. We even managed to get a few lounge chairs.

It's not massively crowded - but it will be August, so not like you'll have the pool to yourself. Either way, you're staying at the best resort in the World!

The quiet pool is larger than it looks. Sad thing is the main pool will be crowded and some there won't be paying the big bucks you are to use that nice pool.

If its crowded complain, that is what it will take for Disney to monitor this pool.

We couldn't find a place to sit at all one day during an August visit. My husband was talking to a lifeguard about how crowded it was. After that conversation a lifeguard went around and checked ID's and sure enough people were asked to leave.

I do have to say that on our six visits to the Polynesian that one day was the only day we had an issue. I did help that on previous visits my kids were younger and took naps during prime pool time:)

Hi,

We were just there from 7-3 to 7-10 it was not bad at all. There were a lot of people there but we always got a chair and table. Did not think it was overly crowded. Also, used the quiet pool and loved that just as much.

We last stayed at the Poly in April of 2008 and found the main pool to be way too crowded and we couldn't find an empty chair. We swam in the "quiet" pool instead which was actually closer to our room.

We've stayed at the Poly 3x. On of the reasons we do not stay here any longer is because of the many pool obvious pool hoppers and the resulting overcrowded pool. It's very hard to find a chair and in the water you will be very close to other bodies.

Thanks for all the replies.

Barbosa, I love your picture! It is just too funny!

Mirlow, that is a great idea to speak with the lifeguards if it is overcrowded!

I am sure we will enjoy the quiet pool too!

It is a small pool and during the heat of the day it does get crowded. You will find that weekends and busier season it's hard to find a seat. Whether or not there's pool hoppers, I would say maybe a few. I've found most of the people in the pool are staying at the resort.

In all my stays I've found on a hot afternoon all the theme pools are very crowded. The only pool I found quieter is the pool at AKL. I would suggest the quiet pools on a busy day, there really is a difference. Back in the 90's we stayed at CBR and POR and during the day the pools were very crowded yet the quiet pools were wonderful.

We LOVE the Poly but the pool is a little small for the resorts size and getting a chair in Aug 08 was difficult, but a did get 1. I do believe if pool hopping was policed it would not be nearly as crowded.. They also have a very nice, big quiet pool which wasn't too crowded at all. The main pool has a great water slide.

We'll be at the Poly end of August thru Sept....The last time we were there (about 5 years ago) it was between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I remember the main pool was really crowded on our arrival day. After that we opted for the quiet pool as well. Im worried now though. I am thinking I should have stuck with my original ressie at BC (one of our favorites) instead of switching over to Poly. I didn't realize the pool was such a big issue until reading these threads! It sounds like a big problem (crowded pool, crowded lobby) and I remember our last trip staying there being so relaxing. Thats why I booked it again.:confused3:confused3
