Poncho Up, Chicas! DISmoms 5, May 2-6, 2013 Updates Galore 12/9

Speaking of pants I was in Walmart and noticed they had a pair.

I think they would look great with an oversized top and flats like u said Wickets mom! But only on a size 2 body, which I AM NOT!. That is way too many Mickeys stretched out over this body lol

I think you would be so cute, go for it!

NO LEGGINGS!!!! Well, they are nice on someone petite- which I am not anymore either- but I like the Minnie ones that drea found better than those Ariel ones- they just scare me!

I think we need an update around here- I mean, we stopped just short of the most important day of ALL, Cinco de drinko!!! Let's get on that ladies!!:wave2:

In the morning, we were all up UBER early- including Elfis and his you-know-what, who had already been celebrating with tequila shooters since the night before, no doubt. I mean look at them! 6am and they were already falling over!

SHAMELESS!

The Cinco de Drinko Fairy had already visited the villa and left behind her festive accoutrements-

Oh boy. It was going to be a loooooong day! :rotfl:

I went out to the concierge desk and checked us in for the Sunrise safari, then headed for some much needed coffee and breakfast. Here is what the spread looks like every morning up there in the Kilamanjaro Club-

For the record, i LOVE quinoa, but not this way. I wish they would put out some feta cheese scallions and tomatoes to eat with this- I would be in heaven then!

We brought all our choices back into our villa kitchen and ate- we are sooo lucky as DVC members to have these floors. I know, I know- the Safari view stinks, but the convenience factor ROCKS!

Soon it was time to head downstairs to meet up with our Safari group. We ended up having a lot of time to kill because one of the buses was late. That's ok- it gave us time to meander around the AK lobby, always a good thing!

Kisses!

Cool! They made a time capsule!

Have to try to remember to head to AKV on April 16, 2021, huh? :)

They herded us together,

Handed us our safari gear, and off we went to explore the Animal Kingdom!

Time to go for a walk with joanie! Back later with animals!!!!

Yay! You are finally to the BEST DAY EVER! :)

Jill in CO

We boarded our safari vehicles, and off we went. The Sunrise safari takes place in the same vehicles as the regular safari ride- BUT....it slows down at the animals for a MUCH longer period of time and is followed by a delicious breakfast at Pizzafari. It is only available to guests staying in Concierge at AKL. This was Loni and my second one- and it was wonderful, as usual.

Gotta love those AKV points! :thumbsup2

One of our first animals was my favorite- a Bongo. Sorry about the blurriness- he was far from me, and I always get excited to see him!

I really love his coloring, I think he is just spectacular!

I am always sitting on the LEFT on every safari truck, though- the Bongoes (if you are lucky enough to see them) are on the right of the road. I have to remember that next time.

Never smile at a crocodile....even when he smiles first-

Our guide then mentioned they were having a BIG problem with flies this spring. REALLY?!?!

:scared:

Well, hello-

How lovely to SEE you-

I love it when the giraffes come right up to say hello- I have had this happen numerous times over the years on these safaris, and I have to say, it NEVER gets old. Giraffes have the prettiest eyes...

Flies, anyone????

Poor baby!

This elephant was doing everything possible to get rid of them, but they just would NOT go away-

Then we got to the lions. I may have loads of giraffe encounters under my belt, but not so with the lions. So far the score is giraffes 10, lions 0.

Until now...

even if he never turned around to ackowledge the DISmoms, I'm ok with that- he sat up, and that is 10000x more than I have ever seen him do before. And what about the Mrs.?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, lion King-dom.

Moving on-

ETA- Laura reminded me in later posts on here- this Rhino packed a BIG surprise that day in his butt- OMG, I have no idea how I could have forgotten this because it literally left the entire safari truck hysterical and speechless! This rhino turned around, trotted off a few feet, completely reversed his stance and turned his back to us, and THEN.....

He peed with an abandon you had to admire, and yet, be sickened by. OMG!!! It was like a FIRE HYDRANT!!!! And it lasted for a good few minutes! I had no idea it was possible to go THAT MUCH for THAT LONG for any animal!!!!

No one on that safari truck will EVER be the same after that experience. LOL!!!!

If you know me on FB, go have a look at the pic of him in action- I don't think I should post it here-

We were picking up the pace, because the park had opened and since we got such a late start I suppose we were backing up KS traffic. OOPS.

Our safari ride was done, and now it was time to hoof it over to Pizzafari. On the way, we passed by the gorillas. Gorilla butt, anyone?

For the love of God, PLEASE TURN AROUND!!! we are not yet ready for round two!!

THAT's better-

Breakfast when I come back-

That sunrise safari looks so awesome. I can't tell you how much I would love to stay AKL CL. It looks like such a wonderful experience!

Great pics and congrats on finally seeing the elusive lions. I got to see them (finally) last month but I still don't know if my pictures turned out. Guess I oughta check that, huh? ::yes::

I was supposed to do the Sunrise Safari this past September, had to cancel 6:30 that morning. I was ill, no way could I do the safari, sent DH down to the lounge to cancel or go alone. Luckily they went ahead & cancelled the reservation, which they didn't have to do.

At least I have your pictures to see what I missed! I do love all those pastries for breakfast.

The hat looked so much better on Lonnie that it did on me. Now it has been used for many ninja fights. Betcha didn't know Ninjas lived in Minnesoder.

The morning grub was grand. I so loved having the food right outside our door. I am SO lucky to have a great friend who has awesome DVC benefits :)

I felt awful this morning. I had been fighting a cold or allergies or something. but it was disney and you can't be sick in Disney. I loved wandering the front lobby and looking at all the details they put into the lodge.

After taking photos like this and seeing the horrible quality I realized I needed to get a new phone.

Ellen was right, the animal were moving and grooving that morning. They were very friendly.

Loved all the animals, but my favorite was learning the saying P** like a racehorse is wrong. It should be like a Rhino. Seriously never have seen anything like that before.

Breakfast was delicious. I loved all the options they gave us in the buffet.

We didn't stay long in the park after the buffet. If I remember correctly we high tailed it to Hollywood Studios.

We are not a boring bunch. Love the single rider line and RnR.

From there it was back to the room to get ready for the most awesome of awesomeness...CINCO De Drinko. The other moms got ready and went to Epcot to have drinks in the ditch.

I took a nap. Okay I totally crashed. I was out. I mean out to the world. I woke up with creases on my face and it was more than wrinkles. I knew I was getting sick. I grabbed some afrin before I went to Epcot. I have a new love for Afrin. :cheer2:

I put on my fancy mickey hat and was off. I had a date with some awesome peeps. One the way to Mexico I had several people ask where I got the awesome ears. I was pleased to say I made them. There were some bummed folks when I wouldn't sell them. I did say you can find me on etsy next year. so that's the plan. I will make them and sell them.

OMG!!!!! The RHINO!!!! I totally forgot! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

How could I forget something so...so...flooding and all-powerful!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I do have a pic- but I am pretty sure it is not DIS friendly. :rotfl:

OMG- and he was SO RUDE!!!! He trotted off, turned his back to us, and let us have it! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thank you, Laura, for reminding me- that is NOT to be forgotten EVER!

We will have to work on that!

You don't rush home and plug in all your pics to check out????? I just can't wait to see them all on a big screen when I get home-

:cool1:

Almost!

It looks like he is moving in for a kiss. :love2:

Kate

Yea- well he is NOT my type, lol! :rotfl:

That was nice of them, so sorry you weren't feeling well on vacation- that is the WORST thing, especially on a Disney trip- it's just so active!

At least I have your pictures to see what I missed! I do love all those pastries for breakfast.

ESPECIALLY the chocolate ones! Yum!

Oh man...I have GOT to stay concierge level some day just so I can have that breakfast, and go on a sunrise safari.

I like quinoa, had it for dinner last night (mixed with chorizo, peppers and onions and stuffed inside acorn squash...YUM!) but I am not at all sure about breakfast. That seems odd. No odder I suppose than grits (yum) or cream of wheat (yum yum) but...never thought about it.

You get HATS on the Sunrise Safari?????

love that. I.want.

Lots of um, activity, by the animals in the am,. Guess they have their regular times of day like most folks. :rotfl2:

PJ's, these would be awesome as pajama bottoms with a longer tee. I'm not that much of a Minnie fan but they are kinda cute.

Love those ears !!!! You must send a link when you sell them !!!

Aren't they the BEST????? She is not exaggerating- she was stopped every three feet from people wanting to buy the ears! I think Laura is going to be cranking them out this year!

Yes you do!:thumbsup2

They serve the quinoa as an oatmeal alternative and they say it's Nature's perfect grain- but I don't like oatmeal etc either, so maybe that's my issue. I LOVE what you did with it the other night- I would gobble that right up! :goodvibes

You get HATS on the Sunrise Safari?????

You do! And they fall right off! Bring hairpins!

love that. I.want.

Personally I thought they were all trying to send a message- some animals were trying to warn us what was to come, some were just STICKIN it to us! :rotfl2:

PJ's, these would be awesome as pajama bottoms with a longer tee. I'm not that much of a Minnie fan but they are kinda cute.

DEF would wear them as PJs- I actually have a pink pair my GF gave me- but that's where it ends! :rotfl:

Time for breakfast again! The breakfast at Pizzafari is only offered on this safari- it is not a meal you could go in and purchase on your own.

And it is very, very YUMMMMMM!

When you walk into the room, each party has placecards at their assigned seats-

Breakfast is served buffet style-

This banana french toast is very yummy, but ohhhhh the sugar......I can take a couple of bites, that's it- it is nice and crunchy. But if you are a sugar addict, you would LOVE this-

On the other hand, I could have a ton of this with scrambled eggs on top-

They need a new sign for this one- tastes yummy tho!

Crepes- filled with fruit I think?

Cheese grits- yummmmmmmmm......

And finally, an omelet station-

The sunrise safari is $75 for adults, $40 for kids (I think we paid less than this- maybe the price just went up?). The whole thing is lovely and delicious- we all HIGHLY recommend!

Laura is right, we did head over to DHS after this to ride RnRC on the single rider line. I got a great seat mate, but Drea was not so lucky, lol- hopefully she will be here soon to tell you why she was ready to blow out her brains- and I don't blame her a BIT!

It was time to head back and get ready for the rest of our BIG day.

I really liked the pajamas that girl wore to the park-

Drea had a beverage.

We did all need to shower, and Laura was NOT feeling well at all- she was a trooper that weekend!

Coming up next- Happy Cinco de Drinko (and drinko and drinko.....)

I also love the PJs and the cute matching hat that her sweetie/friend is wearing. I think he needs a different purse though. It does not go with the hat. :thumbsup2

Yes, overall, they win. I am not going to say WHAT prize they win, but, it is CLEARLY theirs.
