Poncho Up, Chicas! DISmoms 5, May 2-6, 2013 Updates Galore 12/9

Great updates! Love all the ride pics! Especially the ones on EE and COP. Glad you enjoyed the meal at BOG, I can't wait to try it when I go back next year

What a great way to start my morning, catching up with the DISmoms. I hope you guys continue to travel for years and years. That way I get a free vacation. :rotfl2:

I do hope the BOG has not killed off the awesome fries. They were the only reason I had planned to go there. I have AKL-J reserved in March and BOG fries are at the top of my new things to try.

Every year for my birthday Rob asks, what do you want and every year I request a fruit tree. Finally, this year, my requests paid off and we actually harvested enough peaches to enjoy and to preserve. The apples and pears are almost ready and should provide enough to last a few months (will both store and dry the apples, dry and preserve the pears). We are so excited (it does not take much to excite us). Last year we had a weird spring and got no fruit. The year before we had two pears on the tree and the crazy, mean woman next door to us stole them. So this is the first year we have benefited from my decade of birthday wishes. :yay:

What photo server do people use now? I have heard photobucket has become a bit of a pain.

Great updates!! That FP line for Everest is insane!! I have also been hearing that FP+ is resulting in unexpectedly long lines and less accurate wait time postings. I suppose it is natural that there would be kinks but sure hope they work them out soon.

I am soooo excited to eat at Be Our Guest I cannot stand it. I will be sure to order some fries. They look awesome!

Looks like a fun night in the MK. You gals sure know how to party! :)

They keep changing the BOG menu I think it has 3 or 4 changes since it opened...and a couple pf price increases too. :faint:
I think Jeanne told me that they did away with those fries and just have plain ones now. I hope she is wrong and it was just a one night thing.

Was it dinner or lunch?

Those items in AKL CL were the same as the ones we had this past week! I didn't care for the hot ones, but the shrimp salad was pretty good. Their scones during tea time were so tasty!

I have had some really yummy things up there, but that night we didn't care for any of it. It does change, so hopefully they 86 their Saturday night stuff soon! Did you enjoy being in CL?:)

We had lunch at BOG last Wednesday, I had pre ordered our lunch before we left home. Had the onion soup & the turkey sandwich with fries. The food was decent, but the fries were plain. We ate in the rose room, your pictures turned out pretty well. It was so dark in that room to photograph without a flash.

The fries during the day were always plain, I think. It's QS and a different menu then- they (the servers) told me you could only get those truffle fries at night, when it was TS. I hope they still have them then, they were the best thing there!

All caught up here too!

Thank you Ellen for going on vacation at about the same time we did, so I was only 5 pages behind. :rotfl2:

Love all your MK and BoG photos. They bring back A LOT of happy memories (from two weeks ago). ;)

Welcome back, Karin! Are you starting a new TR? I am so behind on so many- including yours. I will be there soon!

So....inquiring minds want to know- did you have dinner at BOG, and if so- were the fries truffled or plain??????

Hopefully WITH truffle fries and not plain ones! It is very nice to have a glass of wine with dinner, for me it completes the meal. Hope you like it, too!:thumbsup2

We are on hiatus next year. lol- I will be going to Mexico in January for 2 of my girlfriends 50th birthdays- Joanie is one of them! It was my first trip booked as a TA. :thumbsup2 In May, I am kind of hoping that Celebrity will run the deal they had this year- pick 2 of 3, which means drink package and tips included. My girlfriend went last year on the ship in NJ to Bermuda for 7 nights for $995 in a balcony cabin! I REALLY hope they do that again, because I am very much in favor of going back to Bermuda, ESPECIALLY on Celebrity!

I do hope the BOG has not killed off the awesome fries. They were the only reason I had planned to go there. I have AKL-J reserved in March and BOG fries are at the top of my new things to try.

That is wonderful!!! it must be so nice to pick that fruit. And what a horrid neighbor- sorry about THAT.

What photo server do people use now? I have heard photobucket has become a bit of a pain.

Kate

PB has definitely become a challenge- but I am still using them because I had pre-signed up for a pro acct before they made all these changes. I think Flickr is very popular-

Great updates!! That FP line for Everest is insane!! I have also been hearing that FP+ is resulting in unexpectedly long lines and less accurate wait time postings. I suppose it is natural that there would be kinks but sure hope they work them out soon.

They were not even doing FP+ then- but Drea kept saying they were messing with it so they could say how AWESOME the new system was when it rolled out. I guess we shall see....

I am soooo excited to eat at Be Our Guest I cannot stand it. I will be sure to order some fries. They look awesome!

Yes we sure do!party:

Dinner!

Great update! Lots of refreshment followed by roller coasters followed by pool time followed by food porn for dinner! :)

No wonder you were tired tonight!

Hi Chicas! Somehow I missed an update or two, but I'm all caught up now. Looks like a great night so far - wonder what those "young ones" will do after E&L go to bed. :scratchin

So what do two crazy dis moms due after dark?? Run a marathon of course. Well it was May the 4th. where else should we go but HS.

Okay it starts like this, we know it will be crazy over there because every living star wars fan is there. I am not one of those fans. But as a good mom to two fans I thought it would be a good idea to go over there since it was open for another 1 hr to grab some merch. :lmao: After riding the most awesome ride ever, I talked Drea into going with me. We were wide awake and had engery to burn. So we leave Lonnie and Ellen some place on mainstreet, but only after I had cooked up some silly idea that Chase Visa holders got a free 5x7 at each park. (BTW it is only valid at Epcot at the character meet and greet :confused3 those poor CMs were so lost.) Drea and I hightail it to the boat. The fireworks had just ended and we needed to get over to DHS FAST. Yea the boat wasn't a smart idea. So after a leisurely cruise across the lagoon, we started to run to the bus. Yup you guessed it the DHS bus just pulled out. but we saw the MOST AWESOME PANTS EVER!!!

How can one not love those. :rotfl2: seriously Aerial is on her bottom . But I have come to find out can also have ursal too.

So after waiting a million years , we run and I mean run (like full on sprint) to the main gate where we get to be a part of the dance party.

After taking a quick right we landed at the kisok that was supposed to be selling May the 4th merch. The conversation went something like this. Remember I'm all tired from running and nearly wheezing at the point and laughing hard

Me: Do you have any May the 4th merch left?
CM: Ummm no, do you know what time it is?
Me: Yea it's nearly 12, so do you have any left? (with hope in my voice)
CM: NO, it sold out when the park opened today and the last thing was gone, (turns to other CM to confirm) like 12 hours ago. You should have been here then.
Me: D'oh!

Oh well. Family will have to live with photos of dancing sand people instead.

So Drea and I didn't want the park to be a total waste, we decided to run to RnR. I think this is what my eyes saw that night. all blurry.

It was 100 min wait at 12!!! Crazy crazy crazy!

so we texted Ellen to see if she wanted us to bring her back a hotdog, yeah the one with mac n cheese on it. She sent us the photo of her sleeping so no hot dog. Probably wouldn't have made it home anyway. haha

So we stayed to dance some more.

those sand people like to party

so without any may the 4th merch :headache: we slowly walked back to the bus where we saw a crazy kid. I don't remember what he was doing but I know Drea and I laughed really hard the whole way home.

It was hard to get up the next morning.

We just had dinner there on 8/30 and I hate to say it, but the fries seemed like regular old fries to me. They did have the aioli dipping sauce, but other than that, they seemed like the same fries you can get all over the park.

On the plus side, I was able to have a glass (or two) of Reisling there and that made me a happy girl indeed. DH was pretty happy with his Chimay Blue ale also.

I was smack dab in the middle of the mob that night at DHS listening to the dance party. I just wanted to see the special fireworks and they were amazing!
It was crazy all day!

Laura, I'm getting tired, just reading about all your running around. Too bad about the May the 4th merch being gone. :headache:

At least you had a good time looking for a good time! :rotfl2:

So then our FP's for Soaring were almost ready. When I saw El taking pics of her feet I thought thats a cute shot, but not so cute Nike's LOL and No El I have no clue where this is still

OK, I'm way behind and commenting (which I probably shouldn't do) but unless anyone else has commented, I think that is Napa Valley, isn't that the shot where the balloons are? If it's not where the balloons are then it is Camarillo, but I think in Camarillo they don't have such a wide shot because that is where the orange smell is.

OK, I've caught up as much as I can tonight....a few comments

What a crazy rainy night! So glad you got to see your band march! I used to be in marching band but we never got to do anything cool other than march in the Mizzou homecoming (and I was at the infamous 5th Down football game!).

Jill in CO

What did you play? I'm a total "band pusher", you never forget....it's just like riding a bike, comes right back to you. And our favorite slogan, "get your horn out of the closet!"

LOVED knowing someone in the band! Who doesn't?

See that's funny, I'm always in the band and so I know everyone. I just wish I knew people to be in the audience!!!!!

Sounds like a great trip so far. Now I know why I was reluctant to sub in. I was afraid to hear about all the great times, and since I'm not a mom, nor do I have a husband or kids to leave behind, I can't join in on the fun. :sad2:

I *played* clarinet. I was horrible. I can't carry a tune in a bucket so mostly I just faked it and marched. :rotfl: I dropped band as soon as I met my fine arts credits. :) MY SIL plays French Horn and she marched in the University of Missouri Marching Mizzou band. She still plays in a community band in MO.

They are NUTS!!!

It is nice to have a glass of wine, I agree- but the fries?? :sad2: If I really think about it, they were not as truffle-y the second time I had them as the first. And the first time, the server did say that alot of people were afraid to try them, so maybe they dummied them down for the masses? Or they ran out of truffle salt? :confused3 What ever the reason is, IT STINKS!!!

I was smack dab in the middle of the mob that night at DHS listening to the dance party. I just wanted to see the special fireworks and they were amazing!

Ohhhh...I bet the fireworks were incredible!

I want some of those pants!

NO YOU DON'T!!! :rotfl:

I was guessing wine country, too. :)
