Poncho Up, Chicas! DISmoms 5, May 2-6, 2013 Updates Galore 12/9

Cool! The finger lakes are great! Pods and I went for our 10th anniversary- stayed in watkins glen at a b&b called the reading house. Hired a limo for the day and went to wineries, then the chauffer pretended to marry us again when we got back to the inn- he was a justice of the peace. I still have flowers growing in my garden that the proprietors gave me when we ended our stay- such a lovely couple, lovely town- great hiking in the gorge.... Where did you stay? Where did you go? Did ya pick up any reisling from j weimer? :)

We stayed at Watkins Glen State Park. Camping with my sister and brother in law. They have a fancy schmancy RV.....bathroom, shower, AC, television. Mike was our designated driver since he is not a wine guy, though we did hit a few craft breweries and vodka and whiskey distilleries also. We did one lake per day....Keuka, Cayuga and Seneca. And YES, I am the proud owner of two new bottles of Herman J Weimer Reisling! Along with 48 other bottles from other places.....

I'm not sure which winery is my favorite. Ravines is very good....awesome view from their tasting room and they offer cheese or chocolate pairings too. I know I dropped the most money there.

We packed lunches and picnicked mostly at the wineries. We stopped for drinks at Two Goats, had dinner at Rooster Fish and lunch at Blue Heron Cafe (Heron Hill winery).

We hiked the gorge trail on our last day...so gorgeous there.

The food was looking pretty good, pancakes especially.

Initiation for Dis Mom how funny is that! I hope there was no paddle involved in this!LOL

I, too had noticed Kara missing in action, hope all is okay with her.

It is always a nice surprise a new DIS mom thread.
I never can understand why I don't find it sooner,
but it is fun being able to read lots of posts right away.

I thought they looked like the stickers they put on the towel animals in your room. I did not like this at all, sorry.

The breakfast at Kona looked good I am goinginDecember and I a having the Big Kahuna which has those pancakes:cool1:

those were the photos I was trying to load. I loved the pancakes but the eggs looked sooooo yummy.

Next time for the Samoan! :) So how about some Paul Bunyan pics? :thumbsup2

I love reading about your adventures. I have been reading; it has just been a busy summer and I have not had time to post. Keep up the good work ladies. We busy folks need to be able to vacation vicariously through you.

Kate

i have been wondering where you have been Kate! No worries- I am struggling to keep up with my TRs, too- sometimes just read before bed, then plan to comment in the am and forget (which reminds me, I owe Cynthia a reply or two...:wave2:). Baseball is finally OVER, so I am JUST beginning to feel relaxed....:cloud9: Thanks for saying hi!

I think I need to try the Samoa, that looks GOOD!

Actually it all looks good. Even breakfast looks better on vacation.

It is DELICIOUS, I highly recommend! :goodvibes And breakfast at Kona is my favorite- :thumbsup2

WOW! Sounds really awesome- we always say we need to head up there with some other grown ups. It sounds like you really saw a LOT! That's a lot of wineries! We did not visit nearly so many, and we only explored the one lake.

I'm not sure which winery is my favorite. Ravines is very good....awesome view from their tasting room and they offer cheese or chocolate pairings too. I know I dropped the most money there.

we were there so long ago that there were no pairings offered- actually, now that I think about it, the food in the area was very plain- not like wine country type food at all anywhere, which we were surprised about- we were expecting it to be like Sonoma, which we had visited a few years prior. It was more country food, pub food.

We packed lunches and picnicked mostly at the wineries. We stopped for drinks at Two Goats, had dinner at Rooster Fish and lunch at Blue Heron Cafe (Heron Hill winery).

Sounds like they have caught up to the Cali wine/food experience!

We hiked the gorge trail on our last day...so gorgeous there.

I agree- I would love to hike there again-

The food was looking pretty good, pancakes especially.

She's fine- just not on the DIS.

It is always a nice surprise a new DIS mom thread.

Hey Marissa! How is it that you miss us? Aren't you a moderator? :rotfl:

I thought they looked like the stickers they put on the towel animals in your room. I did not like this at all, sorry.
DISmoms5292_zpsbf76ce92.jpg

You are right, it looks EXACTLY like that- and don't be sorry, I didn't do it! :goodvibes

The breakfast at Kona looked good I am goinginDecember and I a having the Big Kahuna which has those pancakes:cool1:

That's good! But aren't the pancakes on the big kahuna a little different? I thought I remembered that they were missing something from the full version- but maybe not!

And isn't it funny- you probably don't know what you are having for breakfast tomorrow, but 5 months from now, it's mac nut pancakes and eggs for sure! :rotfl: Ahhh...what the DISboards do to us! :rotfl:

It's definitely changed there. A lot of the wineries have expanded to include beautiful cafes that have much more of what you would expect in terms of food and wine pairings...more gourmet at the wineries, though you still can find typical pub stuff within the town areas.

You're absolutely right. I can't figure out what next week's grocery list is going to be. Yet our trip in two years I've already started working out where we'll stay, what we will do and what we will eat.

Happy national tequila day

Just one more TR I totally missed. Can't wait to catch on the DIS mom antics. :thumbsup2

Drea is most DEFINITELY a character! Pretty sure she has fear of NOTHING what-so-ever, so she is always up for anything! She's alot of fun!

OH I am always up for a good time, anything from Jumping out of planes to bungee jumping, walk around the Bahamas ALONE .. need to cross swimming with sharks off my list.. oh wait I did that in the Bahamas too.. sort of well I rode a raft thru a tube where the sharks were on the other tank LMAO good enough :rotfl2:

Ya know, maybe it was Jen who was taking pics in there! If you can't find them, I can post from other visits- I've been in that bathroom plenty- ;)
YUP just checked no pics of the potty

I almost forgot!! It's Drea's DISmom audition tape!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

OH MAH GAWD im cracking up.. the boys just was it and said thank god you don't do that when we go on vacation together LMAO

Go DISmoms....AAARRRGGHHHHHHH!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
HA that was a total cheer move.. and look it we STILL didn't get any attention from anyone at the bar I even put on a show and everything. BTW wasn't this the night we met that cute couple that lost their luggage (well the airlines did and we were telling her well don't look for sweat pants they wont have them in your size LMAO

I HAVE to know where you guys got those shirts in your opening paragraph! LOOOVEE them!! I also love Drea's Snow White shirt.... I never find cute Disney stuff unless it costs an arm and a leg at the parks. :(
Same here, so I made them.. well I ironed them on.. but Let me introduce you to the Creative Design boards... great group of people MUCHO Talented making stuff for you to use. I found these at this thread.. you'll have to search to find them but they have TONS of diff DISigns LolSubtle Design shirts
Here is his photobucket account, you might find the shirts faster

Yup, I do live in Minnesoder but we drove 4 hours north to visit my parents and to see the might Mississippi headwaters. If you love the Wilderness Lodge, you'd love the Brainerd Lakes area. Very northwoods. Paul Bunyan is from there dontcha know.
Then I would love Minnesoder cuz I love WL too.

back to the TR. Peter was lucky. I know when we were taking the photo in front of spaceship earth , the photographer told us all to stick out are B**bs. hee hee. funny guy--no wonder we had a photo bomber.
HA is that what he said I don't remember that :thumbsup2

The happy hour spread at CL is great.
ya it is.. Dessert is great also!.. breakfast too lol

So back to the room we went. Since I wasn't feeling too well I decided to stay back with Lonnie and get ready for bed. So as I was falling off to dream land I heard "that barbie she can be such a S****. I was too tired to open my eyes but it was fab the next morning when we had a special visitor.
Im so glad you enjoyed it.. I was worried yall were REALLY going to think I was crazy.. you know more than usual

Breakfast choices...
I had never made it to Kona for breakfast. I always wanted to go but silly family wanted to be in the parks.
This is the one place I can get the family to do breakfast at, but normally were grab a bagel/donut/coffee/.. Kahlua:rolleyes1 and go to the parks too lol

I was taking alot of pics here with my iphone, because I was trying to send them to Barb for the Live food porn thread- and what was happening with that was my battery was running down to nothing, so I ended up having to stop. :( But I am prepared with a back up battery for our trip to DL next month,
YEAH!!! I told my friend about those battery packs also she's doing a 26hour flight to Okinawa (with layovers/plane changes etc) so she got a few for the ipad, phones and pods so her and the kids can keep busy. I swear they are the greatest invention!

Three of us had Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes - Served with Macadamia nut butter, pineapple sauce, and your choice of ham, bacon or sausage. - $10.49
Oh....they are soooooooo yummmmmm!! My favorite pancakes ever.
DITTO!!! craving this now... and a macaroni bacon truffle hot dog

It is also so ono. :goodvibes Our server took our pic- see our shirts? Thank you Drea!! :lovestruc
my pleasure!

I can't WAIT until they build that DVC there- I have been DYING to stay at the poly my whole life!! :thumbsup2
so is the rumor true are they building huts on the water like in Bora Bora?

Up next- what are those school groups clogging up now???
well I can tell you its not the bars that's for sure LOL

Drea can give you the details on them- she made them for us, but I think she had to beg for them, if I remember correctly. We all LOVED them, and were so glad she begged!!
I beg for tshirts what can I say. Actually when we started planning I had found these and our group was 6 women so I only had 4 shirts (well I had a 5th it was of Bambi though, I could just see passing that one out like oh sorry your a dear no princess for you LOL) So I asked the DISigner tmdart here on the dis to come out of "retirement" but he just didn't have time to do a couple more. Totally understandable, and in the end it worked out since only for of us went.. sorry Joan I can send you a Bambi if you like LOL

LOL!!! Barbie's a S***!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I came out to get a glass of water for bed, and there's drea at 12:30 am...playin' with her dolls! :rotfl2: The best was her expression- she was not expecting to get caught in the act... Soooooo funny!
I can still remember that look then laughing so hard I almost had an accident :rotfl2: I remember later getting into bed and texting E (hubby) and saying El caught me posing Elfis and Barb, his response was SO does she think your as crazy as I do. thanks babe love you too LOL

Actually it all looks good. Even breakfast looks better on vacation.
Oh it is especially cuz your not making it and you know that all food on vacation is calorie free RIGHT! :lmao:

You're absolutely right. I can't figure out what next week's grocery list is going to be. Yet our trip in two years I've already started working out where we'll stay, what we will do and what we will eat.

Happy national tequila day

HA same here Laura, now Im planning my dland food well more drinks than food you know me LOL

Just a few pics of dinner and such before I move along to breakfast

Heres the BFF's sporting their ultra cute spring line 2013 sombrero mouse ears available on etsy LOL told ya I was pimping you out Laura. You should do some for all holidays. I found some cute 4th of july headband type hats that I bought am going to Mickey up if we ever go on an American Holiday LOL

I guess we did walk to dinner.. Peter took the lead with his 2 wives LOL

No bathroom pics but I did get the sign with the sister wives in front

My favorite animal we saw while we were waiting for our table

The happy Anniversary couple, which they made a great game out of when people congratulated them every time someone would say Happy Anniversary (they were wearing pins) they would clink their glasses and drink. I LOVED IT!

BTW check out that pic.. apparently one of the waiters from the Haunted Mansion work here too!

It wasn't our anniversary but we cheers' to a great day too

This was my bread plate, I had never ate here, just not a place my kids or hubby would like I don't think. SO I loved that I was doing it with my girls.. and Peter LOL

My dinner.. YUM

It was a TAD spicey for my liking so I needed one of these (Tusker Beer) to wash it down

after dinner was over and we all were stuffed, we said our good bys to Jen, I was so glad to have met up with her again. 5yrs have flown by we met off our 1st Disney cruise meet up and I really feel as if her and a few others from that meet up are just FAMILY.. but the DIS does that to people. I think its Mickey that just brings us all together!

Once back to AKL, they had dessert out.. um OK Brownies and I knocked on the CL to ask for another beer, that food was gonna give me heartburn from the spice.

Ok I'll have a cookie too if you insist lol

I don't remember having one of these though

Present time

Fabulous 1st night!!!!! (this was pre initiation lol)

E and I then drove the 6 hours back to Cali
I was trying to google mapquest to see how far apart Vegas was to CA. My dh has another convention out there and me and my dd are thinking of driving over. We once drove from Phoenix to Vegas and that was 5 hrs. So this is totally doable too.

Haunted Mansion Ghost? How did you do that?

HI Ladies! I'm finally coming up for air after coming back from our trip and moving into our house in the same week. I'm trying to get settled now cuz my DSIS is coming for a few days next week, and I'm starting a 2nd part time job.:faint:

Loved Laura's grand entrance!
So fun that Jen and Drea had a chance to catch up. We "met" on that cruise thread - the cruise that turned into a land trip for us.
Cute hats!:thumbsup2 Love the bracelet bead too - which reminded me I forgot to buy a bead for mine this trip...I was drowning. :goodvibes
Sister Wives :lmao:
Loved the audition, DREA!

OK, DIS MOM Groupie finally checking in! Love the new mom posts! :rotfl2: Drea - you seem to be picking up where Kara left off! Some random thoughts from the first 12 pages...

- Sorry the flux capacitor was broke, but glad your plane had a falange! Look what happened to Rachel's when hers didn't. :rotfl2: I about busted a gut with that line when i read it! I can still quote that show forward and back!

-OK about 100 drinks so far, and one photo of Ellen with a monkey, but no kisses?? :love:What kind of DISMOM TR is this?

-Double rainbows - the last one I saw was onboard the Magic as we circled around St. Maarten on our way to port. They both ended on the island! Good Disney mojo!

-And to whomever said they were going to Ohio on a trip as a mis-direction, come on up! We've got the best rollercoasters in the world here! :) I did sneak off to DL when i was in LA last fall, but fessed up to DS when I brought him presents back from there.

-Scrapbooks - those are so cute! The only way they could be better is if they came after the trip, loaded with all the pics! I admire crafty people and scrapbookers, cause all my pics from Everything are still in boxes. My MIL worked for Creative Memories up in Minnersotah, and send me dozens of albums, tools, and everything. Yeah, it's all still in boxes too, next to all the pics!

Drink on my friends! I had to get a glass of wine just to get to where i am on this TR! :drinking1

I am former Creative Memories employee. I was in the corporate office for several years while in college and beyond. Bet I know your MIL :confused3

So I read your last update first (time crunch this morning). But you have convinced me that I am long overdue for a Kona breakfast visit. Their food is so amazing. Definitely going to visit there in October. I am drooling over your pictures!

My intention is to get all caught up this weekend because I still can't believe I missed the start of this TR. :faint:

Might want to check out JetBlue, they have really cheap flights from Las vegas to Long Beach and then rent a car and you can head to DL or LA or wherever LOL and its about a 30min flight! You probably will spend as much on gas (if not more) and waste time driving. Just a though!

Haunted Mansion Ghost? How did you do that?
NO CLUE lol. I was probably messing with my settings and just clicked a pic as the waiter was walking by. If I HAD or TRIED to take a pic like that it would never work so it was just a great opps!

Drea, I am planning to do a Trippie, afterall. I wasn't going to, but it's so fun to relive the memories. I'm working on my photopass pics for right now so the girls can get their editing done too and I can get it ordered. Oh, and I did use your line, "Poncho up y'all!" :lmao:

And isn't it funny- you probably don't know what you are having for breakfast tomorrow, but 5 months from now, it's mac nut pancakes and eggs for sure! :rotfl: Ahhh...what the DISboards do to us! :rotfl:
