Cool! The finger lakes are great! Pods and I went for our 10th anniversary- stayed in watkins glen at a b&b called the reading house. Hired a limo for the day and went to wineries, then the chauffer pretended to marry us again when we got back to the inn- he was a justice of the peace. I still have flowers growing in my garden that the proprietors gave me when we ended our stay- such a lovely couple, lovely town- great hiking in the gorge.... Where did you stay? Where did you go? Did ya pick up any reisling from j weimer?![]()
We stayed at Watkins Glen State Park. Camping with my sister and brother in law. They have a fancy schmancy RV.....bathroom, shower, AC, television. Mike was our designated driver since he is not a wine guy, though we did hit a few craft breweries and vodka and whiskey distilleries also. We did one lake per day....Keuka, Cayuga and Seneca. And YES, I am the proud owner of two new bottles of Herman J Weimer Reisling! Along with 48 other bottles from other places.....
I'm not sure which winery is my favorite. Ravines is very good....awesome view from their tasting room and they offer cheese or chocolate pairings too. I know I dropped the most money there.
We packed lunches and picnicked mostly at the wineries. We stopped for drinks at Two Goats, had dinner at Rooster Fish and lunch at Blue Heron Cafe (Heron Hill winery).
We hiked the gorge trail on our last day...so gorgeous there.
