Poncho Up, Chicas! DISmoms 5, May 2-6, 2013 Updates Galore 12/9

Great pics! :)

Thank you!

Oh what a fun update! Well except for the bazillion teen school groups messing with your ride mojo. I has NO idea those hot dogs existed, I just showed Evan the picture and we must try the Mac and cheese one in Dec! Seriously yum.

Almost as good as a slushie. Almost :)

Yea- ALMOST.... but seriously YUMMMM on that dog-

Well, I guess if you can't be a single rider, you might as well have lunch! It's great when you can just be all about doing what works and just enjoy being there.

Yea- well, what's the alternative? Besides- drea was just Happy to be there! :rotfl:

I hadn't heard of those hotdogs either. Chloe would love the mac n cheese one.

Great update Ellen. :thumbsup2

Hard not to love the Mac n cheese one! LOL-

So while we were sipping the world's BEST slushie, after having eaten the world's BEST hot dog, we were watching

we were suddenly suprised by a crazy lunatic- Laura! :thumbsup2 We made her get a slushie, too, and then a little bit later Lonnie showed up- it was all of us! Excellent! We thought that was worthy of a toast, so....

They were very cute, pouring that Cava Rose-

Cheers!

Everyone's favorite Epcot boys, Off Kilter, were taking the stage, so we stopped for a bit to enjoy....

LOVE that band, but doesn't everyone? I hope they don't get switched out, as so many others have. That is one band I could see a lot more of, even though I have already enjoyed them so many times.

We kept walking around, and decided to stop at the topiaries, where I made my big purchase of a new friend

Looking at him here, he doesn't look that much different now- except I still have not hung him up- he is currently sprawled out on my deck table. See? I'm not a very good zookeeper, like I said. They wrapped the monkey up in a ton of newspaper and stuffed him in a big bag, ready to be my very bulky carry-on on the plane home. (Note to self- next time, buy a monkey pin instead!). Unfortunately, they will not send the monkeys back to the resort for you- they will, however, send them to the front of the park for you to pick up on your way out of the park.

Yea- or forget about and leave up front for a couple of days til you go back to get him...:rolleyes1

The Monsters Inc U topiaries were kinda cute-

Hey girlies!

Because the band (from my town) would be leaving tomorrow, we wanted to make sure we saw Joan and my girlfriend Jen before they all flew out the next day. So where else would we all meet up?

Up next, a GREAT time in the Ditch!

Well....I had a vid from Off Kilter, so....here ya go!

Click to play

So, as I was saying....we were planning to hook up with Joan & Peter, Jen & Steve, and whoever else was going to show up (which ended up being Laura & Jeff, also from town!). It was awesome!! Some of my friends were coming to the Ditch for the first time, and that was pretty exciting, being that Joanie and I have been talking it up for years! Our friend Jen was also with her son Jack, but, unfortunately, it was not the best place for her son, Tom, so hubby Steve got him out of there pretty quickly. Jen's boys are my son Tyler's age- and Jack is actually in school with Tyler (Tom and Jack are twins who have Cerebral Palsy) but Tom attends a school that is better for his particular needs outside of our district. Jack REALLY enjoyed hangin out with us- I saw him at the High School a couple of weeks afterwards, and he was still laughing about it! Love that Jack, he is such an incredible kid! They were all in WDW because of the Band and Chorus- Jack sings in the chorus, and Laura's son is also in the band.

Anyway....after ordering some Ritas at the bar, and saying hello to Bulmaro & Pepe (and giving them Godiva chocolate bars, "cause I really like those guys a LOT!) we were lucky to find a table...actually, we found multiple tables, to all sit together-

I was SO excited to be there with Jen, even for just that short time- she is a huge Disney fan, too, and I was so happy to experience some EPCOT magic with her. A few pics while everyone else was catching up-

SOME people relived a moment from DISmoms past-

Well, after some MUCH needed water for all, we decided to head back to AKV- we had a dinner Adr at Sanaa, and we wanted to check out that CL floor as well!

Outside, we ran into some kids from town-

And after saying hello, headed to the front gate-

We stopped for a group shot of all of us-

PHOTOBOMBED!!! :rotfl2: Who the heck is that guy behind Lonnie? :rotfl: Then it was time to play everyone's favorite game, "Lonnie, what color is your car????"

Look at that! On the first try!

On to AKV, where Lonnie's luggage was hauled in by farmer girl Joanie-

We arrived just in time for hors de ouvres! AND....TONS of gifts, all around!! Next-

My 2 Cents

So heres my take on the rest of the day... (plus I took pics of El, while she took them of me and I have to share her ubber cuteness)

After we had finished at Woody's Round Up, We wanted to hit the coasters, but 1st we ran into this guy. Shhh don't tell E I took a pic with an Army Guy.

Everyone likes a man in uniform

Vanna which ride are we going on next (wait does that make me Pat Sayjack?)

well since the lines were so long that didn't happen, and we decided we were ready for a snack.. which ended up a full on meal! As El said that Hot dog was to DIE for... see she's dying inside, of delishiness!

I believe the words that came out of her mouth were OH MUAH GAWD. I'll admit too I made pulled pork this 4th of July and when we had everyone over we grilled up some dogs and I tried to make a duplicate.. it was good, but not the same. I don't want to try the macaroni one cuz it will just destroy my memory and taste buds if its not as good.

**Sidebar** El I have good news and bad news about Dland... Good news I read that they have these dogs at the park.. bad news they are only there till the 15th.. of JULY.. NOOOOOOOOO Im so disappointed I was looking forward to comparing.

Since we weren't getting on any rides we thought we better head on over to Epcot to meet the others as they were on there way over too... well Laura was lagging since she was busy being "welcomed" into our "home" lmao

We did a drive by with Donald and Daisy

We HAD to check off a few more obligatory pics off my checklist
I feel like a Power Ranger

She's ready for her close up Mr Davil (wait that's the chipmunks dad huh?)

The last of the dynamic duo.. off to multiple us DisMoms, which means even more fun!

All those school groups were taking pics so I thought eh good enough I'll cover the rear, whoa Mickeys Got back!

As we waited for a boat I noticed there were real fish in the lake.. I never realized that.

after our 3 hours tour.. ok more like 15mins, we hopped off and as I was talking with El she talked to me about renting points... SOOO Im looking to do a short 4day trip (ala Military discount account if its offered LOL) with the boys and stay at the Boardwalk. Well 4days of the parks and 2days at the resort to enjoy and relax!)

Once we made the treck to Epcot we grabbed a slushy.. what we were dehydrated all the boating and walking.

I could have sworn Loni was there 1st but who knows I didn't take my gynco balboa that day. Then I thought Laura came running to us.. but who knows. Eventually we were all together!

1st stop Canada, I mustache where he got the kilt LMAO

On to Meh-he-co

What can I say like the backside of everything..

Excuse the blurriness, either the camera is drunk or I was just too excited for my 1st drink in the Ditch

Since I've been hearing about this jalapeno margarita for years, I decided to try it out... I was a lil worried but O-M-G it hit the spot!

I still wasn't brave to try the avacodo.. yet

UMmm excuse me.. your in the wrong country.. give me your margarita and leave immediately!

It was so great meeting everyone and chatting like we had known each other for years! I sat by Jack and I have to say he was a hoot. The boys knows his hair bands.. which lucky for me my hubby loves that genre and I was able to keep the conversation going, but Jack still upped me one by telling me all the concerts he's been to. Want to make Jack laugh, tell him your 1st concert was a boy band (NKOTB). Ya Jack thought I was a hoot too! :confused3

After our drink and chatting, we had to beeline it back to AKL since we had dinner reservations. But 1st photopass pics, a MUST!

I love this one.. Im titling it "Bringing Sexy Back"

And incase we forgot where we went...

Around the world in 60days.. err 2hours or so

Next off to enjoy the perks of Concierge Level...

They have the hot dog until next week? UGH.....Soooo disappointing. I think I am going to re-create the mac one next time I have a bbq- if that day ever comes and if baseball ever ends! UGH...

You may be right about who came first, Lonnie or Laura- I was kind of guessing. I DO however, remember Laura made one heck of an entrance!:rotfl:

Glad you enjoyed Jack- he really is a lot of fun. :goodvibes And i LOVE his Mommy!

Thanks for all those pics- I only had a couple on my card- one I bought, so I will scan and post sometime soon-

Great update, my friend!:yay: Can't wait to see you next month!!

We were all excited to get to AKV- it is by FAR Lonnie's favorite resort, and i think it may be mine, too- well, it would be if I could walk to a park from there. We just love the vibe...it truly feels like you are a million miles away (which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your park usage, LOL!). But, I guess when you get down to it, even though it IS further away from most of the parks, it only makes 2 stops at the resort, and then you are off- as opposed to somewhere like OKW where you could be riding around the resort for 15 minutes (listening to Jimmy Buffet) before you get going, or at BCV or BWV, or VWL, where you are sharing the bus/boat with multiple resorts.

I was very excited to be back on CL, though, and it was great timing that we arrived just in time for hors de ouvres! I checked in (Laura had already, but the room needed a credit card, so I put mine down) and we went to see our 1 bdrm, which ended up being the one that was HA, so set up a bit differently than a regular villa.

A roll in shower, no jacuzzi, but that was fine- I don't think anyone was planning on taking a bath this weekend anyway!

The HA villa does have a savannah view, but as most others will tell you, this is probably the least occupied savannah at the hotel- although, this was my 2nd or 3rd time on it, and I did feel they were making more of an effort to try to get some animals in there by placing the food in the feeders.

It was time for presents!!! DISmoms are VERY generous! :goodvibes And two of them are especially talented-both Drea and Laura made beautiful gifts for us. Gifts to be used on Cinco de Mayo, because you KNOW we had to dress for the occasion....

OMG- how adorable are those hats??? Laura, you are a rockstar!! :worship: We did save them for Cinco de Mayo, but WOW did we get some MAJOR attention when we finally put them on- Laura, are you selling them on ETSY yet for next year?? Because you WILL CLEAN UP!

She also made us each a lime green Mickey bead for our bracelets- how cool is that?

Later on, Drea surprised us with an entire bag FULL of fun stuff (even her bag was Disney inspired!), including the AWESOME tank tops we would all wear the next day, a beautiful scrapbook and plenty of swag for Cinco de drinko- I am hoping someone else was better about taking pics of all this awesomeness, because I didn't til later-

Don't ya love the little Kahlua for my cup? LOL- no question who that came from!

Look how cute the album is, all opened up!

How it will look eventually when I have time to put some pics in after baseball season-

And yes, Drea- I did buy that pic, and I do have one to send to you-:goodvibes

Aren't Laura and Drea the BEST???

Lonnie also got some presents from AKV, in honor of her Bday. Some chocolates-

And this adorable doll!

And I also got some chocolate as well as a Disney towel from CL- wow, that CL is VERY generous, much more so than on previous stays.

Have I remembered to mention how much I love my AKV DVC points??

After we had unpacked a little, it was time to check out the yumminess that was right outside our door- everyone grabbed food and either beer or a glass of wine, and we all enjoyed our happiest of hours-

Man- PB is sooooo messed up, STILL! I continue to use them because the last time I renewed, I paid for a couple of years at once. But all the pics in my album are completely scrambled, some of the newest ones are there one minute, then gone the next- so CRAZEEEEEE!!!!! And this is what they think is worth $40/month? Not for me- when my time comes to renew, I am OUT and on to somewhere else... Ok, here's the one I was searching for-

A really nice night- with Peter and all the moms!

Up next- time to walk over to Sanaa, ladies!

I'm behind as usual. :lmao: I was loving the CL. I knew I needed to high tail it to Epcot. I was missing my girls. If I could have flown over there I would have. It seemed to take forever the bus to get to AKL. Once I got to the park, http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb341/lauraschue12/IMG_0405.jpg[\img]
I went straight to the Dole Whip with rum, sorry ladies. I had to get it before I saw you as I had heard so much about it. At the point I knew something was wrong with my phone as it was taking AWFUL photos. I had broken the screen a few weeks before I left and I got it replaced. Yup phone worked --camera ehhh it was okay. So no photo of the drink. I drank it so fast while running to see my girls. :rotfl2: But who should appear on the bridge in near England, but Joanie and Peter. I screamed Joanie, she spun around and couldn't figure out who it was until I hugged her. We laughed . It was a short hello as they were on their way someplace. I kept going until I got to France. There I saw Ellen, Lonne and Drea but they didn't see me. :rotfl: So I ran up and grabbed drea. She jumped sky high. (at least that's what I thought happened) I was jumping up and down with excitement. It was FAB to see my girls again. :yay:

I got one of those awesome pink slushies. I want one now BTW. [IMG]http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb341/lauraschue12/IMG_0406.jpg

It was off to Mexico to see an old friend...
IMG_0407.jpg

And to make new ones. Ellen's crew from NJ was great. They were just like people I had known forever. I loved them all especially Jack. On the way out Joan dared me to do tap a kid from the band, well of course I did it. He was really confused :lmao:

But soon it was back to our awesome room and more fab drinks and food!

I think they gave us the HA room for a reason.. 4 women alone for the weekend.. Im sure they thought we were mental a few nights LOL:lmao:

A roll in shower, no jacuzzi, but that was fine- I don't think anyone was planning on taking a bath this weekend anyway!

I'll have to look for that- I still have had issues on all the albums I am using for both my TRs right now.

What a fun day. Your gifts are so cute.

Thanks! Love the swag! :dance3:

I can't believe I never tried that Dole Whip with the floater- too busy using all my Drinkos on that Rose Slushie, I think! :rotfl: Man, was that thing da bomb or what??

Thanks for saying nice things about my NJ peeps- they thought you were all great, too! I think my friends around here think I am a little crazy vacationing with people I have never met before, but you laid their fears to rest by being semi-sane, LOL! :rotfl:

We all got our collective butts together and were on our way to Sanaa for dinner. We did walk there, Drea, and it started pouring right as we arrived! Luckily the walk from Jambo to Kidani is under 10 minutes, so it was not too bad. We had a friend joining us for dinner- and we were thrilled to see her, and her family, when we arrived at the restaurant-our good friend Jen (nenner1) somehow managed to squeeze in some DISmom time a day before they left on their cruise on CCL. The whole fam was there, and it was great to see them all- I especially could not get over how much Sarah had grown! ::yes:: Ron was very sweet- he was leaving Jen to all of us and taking the kids somewhere else for a couple of hours- thanks Ron!:)

Anyway, we got a pager, and walked around to see the animals- but were soon seated. We started out with the bread service- double, so we got all the yummy dips
Indian-style Bread Service
Choice of Three Breads - Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kucha, or Pappadum. Choice of Three Accompaniments - Red Chile Sambal, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney, Coconut Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus, or Tamarind Chutney
9.99-

Sorry- these pics were taken with my iphone, because I left my camera in the room..funny, I did the exact same thing in November when I was here with my extended family! But this time, I wasn't going back (that time i ran a marathon back to Jambo to the end of the hall furthest from the lobby and Kidani where our GV was, and then back to Kidani. I was one hot sweaty mess, but I wasn't missing pics of the all the boys- sons and cousins and Pods and his brother)- there were alternate cameras, and you know they have the photos to prove it, even if I don't.

I really do love the bread service here, it is a highlight of this restaurant for me. But I have to say, all this Naan in assorted flavors they are serving now PALES in comparison to the Paneer Paratha they used to serve, but got rid of. :( I understand that there was an issue with getting that particular bread delivered on a consistent basis and that's why it was discontinued, but really? Smearing different oils on naan does NOT make it all that varied and I would rather take my chances on the paneer bread delivery truck. The onion kulcha is still good, though- and I flat out will not eat the pappadums, I hate it, and flat out tell them no way jose when ordering the bread now. I also got a wine flight- I don't think it was on the menu, but it used to be- it included two Chenin Blancs (this is my favorite white wine, and I especially enjoy the South African ones!).

Delivered at the same time were the two salad samplers we had ordered, we had some of everything! Salad Sampler
Choice of Three Salads: Chickpeas with Cucumber and Tomato; Watermelon, Cucumber and Fennel; Kachumbari; Mango; or Bhel Puri
7.49

For our main courses, we all pretty much got the same thing, the Slow cooked in gravy selection. Slow-cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well-seasoned - Dinner
Choice of Two - Butter Chicken, Spicy Durban Chicken or Shrimp, Bison Masala, or Sustainable Fish with Goan Curry served with Basmati Rice or Five-Grain Pilaf
21.99

Except, looking at this current menu from the WDW website, I am certain that the fish is new, and was not offered to us- I know, because I would have had that. We were offered Lamb Vindaloo instead.

I again was sad, because my FAVORITE item, the Shrimp in Green curry, was no longer offered. The only shrimp offered was the spicy durban one- and I really am not a fan of the spicy durban flavors, having tried the chicken in the past. (This is maybe my 10th time at this particular restaurant, I have probably dined here more than any other table service in WDW). I tried the butter chicken (which is essentially the Chicken in Red Curry they have offered since the beginning and I do really like it) and the Bison (which was fine- but not heavenly like that shrimp always was). Sorry to be kinda raggin on the restaurant, I don't mind change, but elimination and reduction of menu items here kinda stinks. Ya know? (FWIW- we had a server one night at another restaurant who confirmed that this menu has been obliterated to a shadow of its former self. Come ON Disney Dining Nazis! Bring back the good stuff!!) I will say the basmati rice was as delicious as ever, though! :)

These girlies had a LOT of catching up to do!

I celebrated their reunion by enjoying a glass of one of my FAVORITE red wines EVER....Missing Virgin Pinotage-Petit Verdot from South Africa- it is described as a rich full bodied wine with hints of blueberries and fruit cake. And while I can't vouch for having tasted any fruitcake in the glass, i can vouch for its EXTREME yumminess on all counts! :thumbsup2

We did skip dessert, after all, we had technically been eating for a few hours between the cocktail hour at concierge and here, so there is only so much that can go in, ya know? We did have a nice dinner, though, and can I just say, that Peter is a LUCKY LUCKY man! :rotfl2:

Jen's family was waiting for her when we left the restaurant- I grabbed them and dragged everyone into the bathrooms because they really are so cool (and I know Drea has photos, because I did not take any since I have soooo many times before). But it still always impresses me how they imagined those animals out of granite and mirrors!

We said our goodbyes (and Bon Voyages to them) then stopped in the gift shop quickly before heading outside- we girls hopped on the shuttle back to Jambo (raining again) and Joanie and Peter grabbed a cab back to BCV- so sad to see them go, they were leaving the next day.

But you guys really should have come back with us for a bit, Joanie!

Back at Jambo, we stopped in the store before it was time for Drea's DISmom initiation- which basically involved her channeling her inner-mouse-pirate and heading down to the bar with me for a nite cap. ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

SOOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!!!! Because you KNOW Drea had no problem wearing those pirate mouse ears (Which Timmy and Tyler had been given years ago on the Pirate voyage around Bay Lake). Look how cute they were!

USUALLY, the Victoria Falls Lounge is pretty fun- the bartenders have a great sense of humor, and you end up meeting a bunch of interesting people from all over the place. I was REALLY looking forward to those bartenders having some fun with my pirate friend.

But not tonight. Tonight, our bartenders were mom and Pop B team, and I felt like we were just an annoyance asking for a beer. :confused3

And they didn't even notice how cute the mouse pirate was at the bar! No reaction whatsoever. Such a disappointment. Mom and Pop B-Team, I mean. Not this girl- she never disappoints!

AAARGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!! :rotfl2:

It was DEFINITELY time for bed, so that's where we headed after a brief tour of the lovely lobby. Tomorrow morning we had BIG plans- starting with the most beloved brekkie in the world- at Kona Cafe! YUMMMMM!!!!!
