We are staying at Poly Garden View Oct 20-26. 3 adults. We will be using the dining package. Is 40% off or FD better for us?

I tried to call reservations - ha ha that was a joke.

Please help my mathmatically challenged self!

I checked the rate at Poly for Oct 20, which shows as $450/night garden view. 40% off of that would be a $180 discount. That's more than the cost of 3 adults' dining plan, so (assuming these numbers are similar through your length of trip), you're probably better off with a room discount and paying for dining.

Looks like rack rate at Poly for that time is $425/night, so if you take 40% of that, your savings would be $170/night (I'm doing these amounts pre-tax). If you take the cost of the dining plan per night x 3 and it comes out to less than that, I'd go for the room only discount. Good luck!

I'm going just a few days before you (10/18-10/23), it was DEFINITELY a better deal to do the 40%. We are in a lagoon view, the savings was about $1300 for 40%, $500 for free dining. I'll take the extra $800!! :rotfl2:

You didn't mention tix, but I added them in:

10/20-10/26, 3 adults, with regular dining plan and 5 day base tix:

with room discount, total is $3,377.73

There appears to be no rooms available with the free dining promotion, but when I do the figures anyway, the total for the same room and tix with free dining is $3,769.41.

Appears the 40% code is a better deal for you!

The room discount was definitely a better savings for us (2A, 1C, 1baby).

Generally speaking, the more expensive the resort, the more likely a room or room+ticket package discount is to save you more money than a "free dining" discount. The Poly is the 2nd most expensive resort in WDW, and a 40% discount will save lots more than "free dining" that requires rack rate on the room.

In our case, 40% off a WL room (and WL is a lot less expensive than the Poly), saved quite a bit more for us than "free dining" would have. We have 3 "adults" 10 and over and one child of 7.

It also depends how many people are in your party...I have 2 adults and 3 kids but 2 of my kids are adult age(over 10) so that makes FD the better deal for us and we are staying at the Poly as well. FD for us is like 1700 dollars for our 9 nights. The 40% off only saves like 1500 dollars.

Thanks so much! Now I don't have to try to get through on that crazy reservation line today....

And that totally makes sense if you have more in your party you could save more with dining.
