We have Alaska scheduled for mid-June. This is our 4th time trying for this one. I won't cancel this one as we are driving from Colorado to Vancouver because we have a lot of family to stay with and see on the way (we won't see or stay with any that aren't vaxxed). So, if it does get cancelled, we will at least get in a road trip vacation and see a lot of people we haven't for a long time.
We also have an 11 day Northern Europe cruise at the end of July. I may cancel this one. Not because of the CDC though. It is an expensive cruise and I'm worried there will be ports we won't be able to go to. For as much money as this cruise is, I don't want to just sit on a ship for 11 days going in circles.
I am triple vaxxed and my daughter is double. I am a teacher, so can be exposed at any time, but since both cruises are in the summer, I will not be around germy students for a while before hand.

Come on man. You're the one that always mentions about following the mods rules and not to get into Covid arguments so they don't shut down the thread. :confused3
I'm not arguing, the protocols are why you can cruise. The mods don't want speculation, protocols are very much a part of the cruising process today.

I agree about the protocols but the mods have been unpredictable about closing threads for Covid. Any argumentative tone seems to trigger a shutdown.

For anyone that's been already, what are the restaurants like? Are they still crowded with the tables tucked tightly in to each other? Or are they leaving decent gaps between the tables?

We're first seating - Fantasy, if that makes a difference.

This cruise was supposed to be summer of 2020 in honor of my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary. Unfortunately, Covid hit and my dad passed in April 2020. We had to reschedule anyway, and my mom still wanted to go with everyone, so we changed it to 2021. Then it got canceled and rescheduled again to 2022. We're not going until the summer, but, at this point, I want to get away! We need a vacation, I have wasted two summers of my kids' lives to this stupid virus. I'm hoping the CDC guidance changes in 8 months, but, if not, I feel as a family, we need this time!

It sounds like you need to getaway. I'm always surprised that people just assume things will get better and put stuff off. It may, or it may not. Covid aside we're living in some scary times. I've never regretted all the trips to WDW and traveling we've done around the US during Covid. Do what you feel comfortable with even if it's not a cruise. You never know what's around the corner.

We had a Magic cruise booked for October 2020, rebooked for October 2021, then canceled that one and didn’t rebook, but we’re booked on a “cruise” on the Galactic Starcruiser for August. Since that experience is mostly indoors, we will definitely be taking a wait and see approach and reading reviews from the first March “sailings”. But for me right now, a real cruise has too much risk not just from the virus, but of overpaying for a diluted experience, possibly getting quarantined or denied entry at ports, etc. The next cruise I would consider would have only one government to worry about, like Bermuda or Canada. And the kids clubs would have to be open without time limits.

I keep looking at reward flights to Europe for our booked cruise next Summer. I put them on a five-day hold, but then I can't commit to the purchase. I read this story on TPG about a family getting stranded in St Lucia for 2 weeks due to a positive Covid test. It only cost them like an extra 6k. I've traveled a lot the last two years just not out of the country. I've never been afraid of Covid, but I'm afraid of being quarantined in a foreign country. I also have a job to get back to and I'm not rich so there's that also.

I sailed on the Magic in late October and had second seating dinner. There were about 1,450 passengers onboard. There was ample space between diners at different tables, mostly in the form of a lot of empty tables. However, I also never had an actual table that was only two feet away from my table. Also, there are staggered arrival times at dinner. Not everyone lines up at the same time for a given seating, as used to occur in the past.

You guys should check out “cruising with Dan” latest video on this ban. Of course he’s Bias as a cruise vblogger but he did state a few interesting things ex : Royal releases their Covid figures. Since June 1.1 million pax and just over a 1000 cases. Incidence lower than any town out there.

Before Thanksgiving we changed our January 3rd sailing to February 28 due to some non Covid health issues. So glad we did. I sail for the ship and Castaway Cay. I would be sad if we missed Castaway Cay, but not as sad as if we had rain the entire cruise! We enjoy the pools, Serenity Spa, the tastings, and the food, including Palo. We love the adult areas. I’m just hoping cruises keep sailing.

Wisconsin is fine so come on out.

We have the waterpark capital of the world with a number of resorts with large and multiple indoor water park areas.

We also have a ice sculpture event with artists from around the world in a different city as well.

Ha! My husband would love it! We have family in Wisconsin! We are in the northeast though, and with air travel the way it is right now, we would be looking at a road trip...

Feel this way as well. We did take a brief trip last May to WDW. It was just wonderful to have a break and sit by the pool. Waiting for the air travel to settle. May just head right back down there in the spring.

I personally know 3 parties who have been stranded due to a positive covid test out of the country - 2 in Europe and 1 in Mexico. 2 of them were required to stay 2 extra weeks on their own dime.

We sailed on the Magic - and the restaurants felt empty...we literally had no one sitting directly next to us.

We want to go but are aware of the troubles around travelling in covid time, all the tests and what if etc. We can´t decide yet but we sure need a vacation.
