Havent seen a poll on DVC resorts... So I figured lets give it a shot.

I am trying to buy a resale and just 4 fun, want to see where my resort will place in this...

Hard to say. Here is how we rank the DVC resorts.

1. AKV / OKW

AKV: savanna/animals, theme (African thatched-roof, hewn-timber lodge in a savanna setting inspired by the historic expeditions of 19th century), concierge (sunrise and sunset safaris), possibly the best executed immersive theme on property and Jiko

OKW: style (condo), theme (Caribbean influenced, Key West style Victorian), value (points, dues, villa sizes), laid back atmosphere and Olivia's (particularly when eating outside), boat rentals for canals and DD lake

2. BLT / BCV / VWL

BLT: location (monorail and views of MK), restaurants at Contemporary with Poly, GF on monorail and WL nearby, on the lake (views and boat rentals) and boat transportation

BCV: location (adjacent to Epcot, near Studios and Boardwalk), SAB, theme (early 20th century Mid-Atlantic "stick-style" seaside resort), 11 month booking for December to enjoy CP/Illuminations and a short walk home afterward, great selection of restaurants from Studios to Epcot and the resorts in between

VWL: theme (early 1900s railroad workers' lodge, pre-dating the adjacent grand National Park Service lodge), very relaxing, another great December (holiday decorations) or January (cool weather) resort, restaurants at WL with Poly, GF and Contemporary nearby, on the lake (views and boat rentals) and boat transportation

3. VB: Atlantic beach resort with an OKW feel to it, very relaxing, and not too far from Disney

4. BWV / SSR

BWV: location along the "Boardwalk" and reduced point rooms, same great restaurant opportunities as BCV

SSR: location (near DD and OKW), great resort to walk around, restaurants (DD and proximity to Olivia's), theme (Turn-of-the-century (circa 1900) Upstate New York grand resort destination, subtle equine), THV option

5. HH / VGC

HH: very nice resort and staff with fine restaurants within walking distance or a short drive, split resort (separate beach house) not as desirable as a single beach front property but is well executed, just too far (six hour drive) for an Orlando resident to go for golf, tennis and beaches

VGC: theme (turn of the 20th century arts and crafts), location adjacent to DD and CA at DL resort

Being that we are semi new owners and have only stay at our Home Resort so far. Of course I voted for AKV. My next fav would be Wilderness Lodge. That is where I would like to stay next time we go.

Wow, this is such a hard one! It really depends on the purpose of our vacation. If it's pure relaxation, I'd pick HHI (and since I'm a tax preparer and this is my busiest season, I picked that right now-boy, could I use the relaxation!). If it's the F&W Festival time, I'd pick BCV. If I want to spend some quality time with DH, it's OKW. If I want to go to WDW, but not run around a lot, it's AKV. So it's HHI today, but ask at a different time, I may have a different answer.

I'd have to say, I'm surprised by the amount of votes so far that were counted. I didnt think I'd get many. So far the results are pretty close. Great points too, everyone! As usual, the feedback from the site is helpful!

BWV is our favorite. Love the Boardwalk, and being able to walk to two parks.

Love the "new-ness" of AKV and the pools. BCV would be my favorite if it were on the monorail. BLT's location is terrific.

I picked BWV but it wasn't an easy choice. We so enjoy being there -- love the proximity to Epcot, our favorite park. We also own at HH and absolutley LOVE it there -- very peaceful and relaxing.

I've stayed at several DVC resorts and they all have their "goods and bads." Right now with this icky winter weather I'd be happy to be at any one of them!

I had to say SSR. I know I'm in the minority here but it made a huge impression on us. We stayed there with friends over spring break one year. Everyone who knew we were going said we were nuts to go to Disney at that time and it was so busy. We had no plans to go to parks and spent most of the time enjoying the resort. It was a full house for sure but never seemed busy. It was relaxing and we love the proximity to DTD. Of course, we bought in.

Second choice, BCV for the proximity to our favorite park, EPCOT!

 

[Monorail Purple&Gold]

AKV is our favorite by far for many reasons.

Checking out BLT next week, maybe a new champ will be crowned...

I have to agree with you Sherry, even if we are in the minority. I just love SSR. It is a vacation within a vacation. So much to do just hanging out around the grounds and the walk to DTD is supurb

BCV is our favorite but we just saw pictures of the lobbies and rooms at Jambo house and we were VERY impressed.
