Politics on the Boards...

I just had to get this out so here is my mini rant:

Is anyone else sick of coming to the Disboards and seeing people throwing political viewpoints/slogans up on the boards. There is a time and a place and I just wish I could come to the boards without seeing a giant "Nobama Mama" or "McAncient" sticker in people's signature. It is especially annoying when you are on a thread where someone has one of these sigs has posted several times and that's all that jumps out. If someone hasn't already made their decision, is your inflammatory sig really going to change it?

If we can't get rid of them all at the very least instead of "anti other party" tags maybe switch it to one supporting your candidate of choice. Again, I still would not be thrilled but at least it is a little softer to look at.

You can turn the signatures off. But if you're a person who enjoys non-political signatures, that probably won't help.

MY signature should be read by everyone before turning them off, though.

I have two black kittens that need homes!! I know we aren't supposed to advertise, but it isn't like I'm looking for money. I'd even pay someone to take them. And I'd certainly buy the litter box, bag of litter and a decent supply of kitten food.

They're really good at climbing, pouncing, throwing litter out of an uncovered litter box (they seem to think that's what it is there for) and are pros at ripping a roll of paper towels to shreds, if you're in need of any of that. If their mother is any indication, they will be EXCELLENT at killing chipmunks. (Kitty: 8 Chipmunks: 0 )

I was looking for "a good home" for them, but at this point a homeless person with a cardboard box will do.

That's thing that gets me, I usually love looking at the sigs b/c I like seeing who stayed at what hotel and when and find usually find them funny and interesting but maybe that's what I should do for the next month or so...

I am tired of Politics they all have a view from one extream to the other and they all say whatever it takes to get votes, and after they get elected they forget everything. aned have you ever noticed that a politician always says that it will take more then ten years to fix any problem?
Example: If I'm elected in ten years we will balance the budget and we will have a stable economy. I'm sick of it allm so when I come here it's to get away from it all.

If you are using Firefox download the add-on "Adblock" and install. Then whenever you see a graphic you dislike just right click on it and block them. I have blocked almost all political ones as well as a few others I feel are distruptive to my reading the boards. This way you get to keep the sigs but rid yourself of the annoyance.

As you can see I have my political statement as my avatar. I am simply showing my support to the candidate I think is best. I don't think it is offensive in any way. In Fact, I have had some wonderful conversations on here with people who support both candidates. Hey, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know which way the most of the group on the podcast leans politically.....but I still love them! Though we have different opinions on some issues.....there is much more things we do have in common, Disney being only one.

I am not really a political person at all, but I have chosen the candidate that I will support next month and that's that. However, just because I don't like the other team doesn't mean that I want to slander them in my signature...lol!

I think that Cruz Family has it right. It's unnecessary to slander the other team...I have no issues with a little image that says who you're supporting. But the Nobama mamma or whatever it is bugs me. That is why I avoid the community board at all costs during an election...it hurts my eyes to see so much negativity and bullying over an election. I feel much safer in here!

And I am not starting anything negative, but holy cow was Sarah Palin wigging me out last night. She kept STARING at me through the tv! I felt like she was watching me...

Politics and religion have no place on a Disney board. It just causes conflict.
I have several internet Disney friends and I couldn't tell you their political or religious views and we keep it that way. It's all about the mouse.

I have only seen two political threads on this section, and they were both saying they didn't like political threads. The only place I see the treads is on the community board, and they are easy enough to avoid. I sometimes enjoy reading those. I don't join in, but it's nice to see the different points of view.

The OP made a good point about whether the sigs are negative & hateful. I don't mind "your pick" in an "ad", but when you bash a candidate, you in turn bash the backers of that candidate. If this is to be a friendly forum, don't slander/slam others for their views.

Girl, you owe me a couple paper towels and some Tequilla Lime Scented Windex! Seriously, it smells like tequilla and limes! I get the urge to hit the bar as I clean my windows!

I took my "banner" out of my signature although it was a supportive one, not a slanderous one. I just figured, I post here most of the time and I didn't want to alienate anyone, but I am getting tired of all the "haters".

The political siggies are a bit much, but I just ignore them. There are other ones that bug me that aren't political too and I ignore those as well. There isn't really a good way to "police" something like that...if you set a "rule" about negative political siggies, then someone else will want a rule for something else, ect....basically as long as siggies are "clean" I think people should be able to express themselves however they wish.

I dont see the need for the offensive banners either. It is almost over. I am as into politics as the next person but some people have gotton way out of hand. There are a few people that are just outright rude and snarky to others. So uncalled for esp in this happy place. Anyhoo it is good to know you can turn off the siggys for the next month if you choose to.

I also find it rather obnoxious. I actually wouldn't mind banning political slogans/logos/references in signatures. It has absolutely nothing to do with free speech, before someone goes off on a misinformed tirade about them having the right to free speech anywhere and everywhere.
