POFQ CLOSING INFO THREADS-UPDATED & CLEANED UP!

We're doing things a little backward. We'll be on the DCL from 11/9 for the 4 day and then AKL for 1 night on 11/13, then PO-FQ, soon to be ???. This trip for our 5 year anniversary so we wanted to make it special. We had stayed at WL and FQ for our honeymoon and loved it more then the other mods. I'm hoping for either WL for $10/over or Poly (I can dream big!)

I was hoping to hold off until codes came out to get the PO-FQ price down THEN transfer at a lower rate. Guess I can't.

Booked room only through 407-disney, using code AEA, for PO/FQ from 5/22 to 5/26. Booked 4 nights @ $94/nt. - Gave deposit, found out 2 days after that they were closing! Called to find out and they told me to wait for a call and that they'd probably put us in PO/Riverside. Came to this site and got the re-booking # and called. They were wonderful and patient, we wanted a place with a kid friendly pool, she said the BC/YC had the coolest pool of the resorts and offered us upgrade to Deluxe for $30/nt....WOW!! Now were are staying @ Beach Club and are so excited!!

Well, it looks like everyone has been happy with what they received. I know I am, along with the rest of my family.

We just received our confirmations in the mail today. Actually received 3 different ones. The 1st was for CBR that I originally switched to while I waited for the upgrade codes. The 2nd was for the YC with the total amount due. The 3rd was for the YC stating our initial deposit placed. I made sure I checked the dates and times of each confirmation, making sure the 3rd one was the most recent, and it was.

Now I'm even more excited. Can that even be possible???

I'm really new to all of this...I've been to Disney once in February and going back in December...We were suppose to stay at All Star Music, but moved because Pop Warner Football will be there around the same time so we decided to move up to POR...

Now I'm wondering what will happen as far as service and all of that since they might be closing part of POR down...

Please if someone could give me some advice, should we try and move up again or wait to see what happens!!!!

Welcome to the DIS!

As far as the remodel/rehab of POR it really seems a bit up in the air. I asked alot of questions when the news first came out about POFQ closing and the POR remodel and the answers varied depending on which CM I spoke to.

At this point in time I believe that POR is going to be closing down a section of rooms at a time to remodel/rehab them. I don't know what will happen as far as other amenities like the food court or the pool. If you are concerned about it I would call the CRO (or wherever you made your ressies) and ask them some specific questions about your concerns. If they just don't know yet I might just hang onto that ressie and speak to them again over the summer at some point once the remodel has begun. They might have more info at that point.

Sorry if this isn't much of a help--the info is just not really specific on how POR is going to be affected. Good Luck!

Thank you for your reply, any knid of answer helps me...I have a while before we go, but I want to make sure we have another great vacation at Disney...

By the way How do I get the countdown to my vacation on my replys???

Don't know if this helps but ...
We are going to POR in August. I spoke to my TA and they said they expect all services at POR to be available and are confident we wont experience any disturbance.
They went onto say that POR rehab will not start until POFQ is up and running again.

Any kind of information helps...Thank you...That's very good news, I just want to make sure we have a good vacation...:)

We were called and have been switched to the Animal Kingdom, hope it's a good deal. We have never stayed onsite. This is exciting for all of us. We have not vacationed as a family for YEARS and spent a lot of time choosing the resort. I would appreciate any help/tips/advice you can share with us. Our daughters are 15 and 16, and have been Disney fans forever!
:p

Hello,
I have been a lurker here for some time, but now with the closing of POFQ, it has brought me out of the woodwork.

All of this happened to us last year when we booked to stay at POFQ only to find it was closed during our stay, we reluctantly transferred to CBR as Virgin Holidays made it clear this was our only option, except of course to cancel all together.
Well, 2 weeks before our holiday CBR shut down and up to 3 days before we flew to Florida we had no idea which hotel we were staying at, talk about STRESS!

And now all of this is happening again.....
I emailed Virgin Holidays as soon as I heard the news from the fantastic DIS boards, with no reply and after speaking to numerous people, numerous times who knew nothing about POFQ closing.
I received a letter today from Virgin Holidays stating that they have automatically moved us to CS! without even notifying us! rang this morning LIVID and spoke to another clueless woman and stated that this holiday is kind of a romantic break away from everyday life and we don't want to stay at a big sprawling resort, and how much would it cost to stay at the next smallish resort which is WL and could we upgrade using our £300 ($450) waterview room charge we already paid for. She came back to me stating that it would be another £631 ($800) EACH to transfer to WL ( 0n top of the £3900 the holiday already cost!)

Sorry I know I am going on a bit, but this is such a bloody mess!
So it looks as though it is either CS or cancel,
by the way we are on holiday from Oct. 27th to Nov. 12.
Phoning Virgin Holidays again on Monday to have a rant, keep all fingers crossed for me!
Cheers!

I booked through a travel agent and I was able to upgrade to WL for $10 p/n. I had booked a package. The code for my package took about a week longer to be put into the system, but I was able to get WL. I know that when you use a travel agent that the changes must be made through them, but you might want to try calling Disney yourself and speak to someone in the POFQ relocation dept. If that CM is able to help you to your satisfaction, ask that CM to call who ever is handling your reservations personally. I had called the relocation dept. myself and spoke to a very nice CM who said that she would hold my reservation and handle it with my travel agent personally - and she did.

Good luck.

Another former guest at POFQ. I've enjoyed reading all the responses to this thread.

I had 6 nights at POFQ and 6 at the AsMusic. When I got the information about the closing, I called and called and called. The results were worth it though. I'll be staying 3 nights at the AKL and 3 at the BC. The split was my choice. I enjoy savering the different hotels. During one trip I stayed at 4 different hotels in 11 days. I never completely unpacked! :p

Then earlier this week the AP rates came out. I was able to change my 6 nights at the AsMusic to 6 nights at CS. The difference in price for the entire stay was only $31.

Disney has increased the hours, added fireworks, parades and E-Ticket nights and has both the water parks open every day of the week. This trip is already great and I haven't even gotten there yet! :teeth:

Ravengirl,

I had a fairly quick response from virgin holidays at this e-mail address :

DL-ReservationsServicesAdmin@VirginHolidays.

Hope everything works out for you. :(

April 19, 1 week previous my husband decided he wanted to go on vacation to Florida with my 13 year old daughter. Me and my son took a bus with the h.s. band.

To make a long story short, I called All Star Sports, where my sisters were staying and they said he could stay there for $109 a nite (Easter Season),but they would up grade them to Coronado. He said no, cause we stayed there, and it is more of a convention type hotel, then they said, well what about Port Orleans French Quarter for the same amount, I said sure. So I booked 3 nites and 4 days there.

The next day they called and said, they were moving him and my daughter over to Riverside, which still was OK.

I know $109 is still a lot, cause some people were paying $39 a nite at Main gate South, but I heard a lot of grumbly. You pay for what you get.

My husband thanked me and he said he loved the place and so did my daughter. Plus they let him buy 2 day, 1 nite ticket for the parks at the hotel, he didn't have to buy 4 day 3 nite. (Length of Stay).

I will never stay off property again, I really had no choice, cause I was with the high school band.

Cheers disneyuk!
I am going to start the my email campagin tonight, I will post what ever results I get, so far they have not been too inspiring:(

Cheers!
