POFQ CLOSING INFO THREADS-UPDATED & CLEANED UP!

Well, here's my story...I called the DC line to find out more on this new package, whether it would "maybe (if I ask nicely ;) )" go into November. And was told NO of course. So since I was on the line I asked to be transferred to the relocation line. Was on hold for 10 minutes when answered by the sweetest CM of all time. She asked what I was looking for and I was offered Poly or Boardwalk for $30.00!!
So....WE'RE STAYING AT THE POLY!!!! WOO HOO!!!

p.s. She also said that they were scheduled to be calling September thru November ressies this week. Just FYI

I, too, am de-lurking to express my thanks to the wonderful folks on this board.

I am planning my 12th trip to Disney propery this May, but it is the first trip I am taking to WDW without my parents and younger brother. I am going with my best friend in celebration of my getting into grad school - a last hurrah before I move to the other side of the country. We chose the POFQ because it seemed the most fun of the moderates (two relatively recent college grads on a budget!) and because of the excellent room rate offered on the website for moderate resorts.

In my excitement to plan, I found your boards almost by accident - and the first thing I read was that the POFQ was closing. Thank heavens for this thread. It prevented all out panic and informed me of my options. I probably would have accepted the CSR room they first offered, the only moderate they offered, despite it not being a hotel I particularly love the idea of, if I had not first read the thread. I was offered AKL and the BC - and we took the BC because of the location.

This will be my first time in the Epcot area (only Poly and FW on previous trips) and I am more excited than I can say.

Thanks so much!

AllyGirl-

I'm in the same situation. I graduating from undergrad this weekend and then am off to law school in the fall...

My friend and I are leaving on Tuesday for our trip. We ended up taking a DAK upgrade! Have a great trip. Going with friends is so much fun.

My family had 3 rooms at POFQ for Thanksgiving week with the Disney Club discount. My brother- the one in charge of res.- called last night and was offered either;
Coronado Springs
AKL Standard view- $10 more per night
AKL Savannah view- $20 more per night
Boardwalk- $30 more per night
Yacht Club- $30 (I believe) more per night

After lots of conferencing and deliberation, I think we are going to take AKL with the savannah view. The total- after taxes- comes to 130.50 per night!!! He is going to call and complete the res. today or tomorrow. We are soooo excited!!! The last time we were at Disney- 2001- POFQ was closed after 9/11 due to attendance. We were transported to POR. Boy, what a difference! We were kinda worried after the news this year. But, Disney is definitely trying to make things right with everyone I think!:D

This has probably been asked a million times, but I can't find it  HOW LONG will POFQ be closed for? The full two years? And does anyone know what exactly they are doing? The links on the first page didn't work for me.

I am so happy that French QUarter is closing for remodeling. Don't get me wrong, I love the French Quarter as a Moderate Hotel. However, my first choice has always been WL. We just can't afford it for our large party. When I was offered the upgrade for a mere 10 a night I jumped on the opportunity. My friends have stayed there and loved it. This just gives me one more readon to look forward to the cruise and DisneyWorld in July!

Yes, I just made ressie for October 2-9 at POR. I was told that the renovations would NOT effect my trip. I am concerned though. However, I have never had a bad experience in the magic so I am hopeful.

Hope everyone has a "magical day"
