POFQ CLOSING INFO THREADS-UPDATED & CLEANED UP!

Well buzzlady...at WL, that narrows it down to about 1500 guests...lol

Do you remember if they serve pancakes in the Roaring Forks for breakfast?

I will miss the pancakes at POFQ....

I don't want to sound like a whiner but I finally called tonight and all they offered to do is move me to another moderate at the $74 rate that I'm paying. My reservation is for June 27th for 3 nights. I didn't take it, I told him I'd wait for my call.

Hi Cindy,

Just keep trying. I think it will depend on what person you get on the other end.

What number did you call? I used 407-939-7919.

I would try calling again. Availability may become a problem if you wait any longer. I will be there 6/30 - 7/7 and have already made my upgrade. I was told that YC/BC wasn't available for the days that I will be there(I needed 2 rooms). Are you asking for the POFQ relocation dept.? Good luck.

We'll be staying at the BC for the first time due to POFQ relocation. What section is best to request to be near pools and food? Are there building numbers or names?

I called first thing this morning, got right through, and got YC for $30 more a night. I feel much better. Great Boards and great feedback.

I, too, am a POFQ refugee, and have excepted the AKL savannah view for $22 per night. I was offered this, or the Coronado springs. I am very excited because we would never have spent the money to book the AKL from the start. I have a concern, which I hope those of you who have stayed at the AKL can address. I am worried about the remote location and how long bus transportation might take to the various parks. One guide book I read even said that you should rent a car if you plan to stay at the AKL. Can anyone address this?

Many thanks!

Hi Amy,

I was offered AKL to, but held out for WL. My family and I feel that AKL is to far away from things. We like to change parks and plans often and didnt want the long rides to and from...

We spend a lot of time at MGM and Epcot and POFQ worked the best for us. But everyone has a different opinion. We just think the WL has wonderful charm and it suit us.

I was also offered BC for about $40 a night. Almost took it, but I think we made the best choice for WL.

Well, I called yesterday. Our dates for POFQ were May 31- Jun 2, at a Fl resident rate of $155 total including tax for the 2 nights. I did my homework before I called and knew that I wanted something on the Boardwalk near EPCOT. We were offered BC or BWI for $232 total including tax. That is $77 more for the two nights or approx. $38 more per night. I chose BWI and I am happy with the rate. I know that we have always wanted to stay there but couldn't justify the cost (I live only 40 miles from Disney). But, this is the second half of our honeymoon so I am doubly excited about this trip!

amy,
we stayed at AKL last year and didn't notice any significant difference in travel time to and from the parks as opposed to any of the other resorts. all this talk about AKL being so remote is a little overstated I think. go and enjoy; you really won't notice much of a difference.

Ok, DH and I have ressies at PO-FQ for November for our anniversary. Right now we're paying DC prices, aroound $130 ish a night for a king.
If we were to call now and switch to WL or Poly, or something like that at $30/night more, would we be able to call and apply code to that new ressie when they come out to get the price down?

or do you think they'd frown on this and not let us?

Thanks!!

KarenTX You won't be able to do that because you'll be in a new deluxe resort and any codes would apply to that resort. I don't think there would be any codes that would equal the great deal of the upgrades they are giving now.

I agree with Disneyolic on the codes. I just wanted to add that there seems to be a 10 day limit on making changes to your reservation once you've received the upgrade. I would think after the 10 day, you'd have to cancel your upgrade reservation then book a new reservation entirely.

IMO, if I had a higher $$ rate I was paying for POFQ and I was wanting to get the most savings, I'd try and book a higher $$ deluxe on the upgrade. If you switch to WL for instance, my AP rate was only $137, pre-tax, woodsview for December. The current rate for WL codes is about $150-$160 standard view, so you're really not saving much at all. However, if you switch to the YC or Poly for instance at the same $30 upgrade fee, your $160 price would be a steal!:)

KarenTX: We were told by our TA that Disney was not allowing any changes to FQ reservations, especially not applying codes. We could not apply a code to our reservation at FQ (at full rack rate) before changing resorts. We were also told we could not apply a code if we upgraded to a deluxe resort.

Once we switched to Poly, our rate was about 1/2 off rack rate for Sept so there likely wouldn't be any code for less than what we are paying.

She did say that if we switched to another moderate that we would probably be able to apply a code closer to Sept. She also said that they are anticipating rates for WL and AKL to drop for the fall season.

Hope this helps.

Ok..here is my AP rate story....

I have an upgrade from POFQ to WL for the dates of 6/27 to 7/4.

My total night rate with tax is $175.50 for 3 adults.

I tried to get the $139 rate, but they add $25 per night for the 3rd adult (my son). So the total cost would have been $60 higher if I took the AP rate.

I guess this makes sense. My son is 19 and is charged as an adult...I am not sure if that was the case with the POFQ ressie, since my wife did that, but I guess I was told the true story.

Does this sound logical to everyone?...I never have tried the codes before and don't know what to expect exactly.

I guess not extra souviner money for me....lol

But still happy to be at WL this summer..:bounce:

I'm sure they did charge for your son on the POFQ reservation, but at a moderate it's only $15 I believe. Oh well, if you have a better rate than AP's...it's a good rate!

The AP discounts couldn't beat what I had at OKW either. That's ok, anytime I can get a better discount than an AP rate, I'm satisfied!:)

Thanks everyone for the replies! Now, should I wait for their call or go ahead and call myself to make sure we get an upgrade room? My DH would rather cancel the whole November trip then stay at CBR or CSR. We've been there and he hated both.

What do y'all think?
Thanks!!

KarenTX Don't wait for their call. Call yourself. It will give you peace of mind of where you are staying. Especially if you have a particular resort you want to stay in. When are you going in November? We'll be at the YC from November 8 to 15.
