If she did one or the other, I would recommend the actual Passport over the card, as the card is only good for border crossings into Mexico & Canada and as an accepted TSA Identfication.

Thanks for the recommendation. :flower3:

If she doesn't want to fork over the money for a passport, a certified birth certificate and Driver's License should be sufficient. Right? She had a passport at one time, just let it expire. So, if she does have any problems in the Bahamas, they can always look it up at the US Consulate. I think I just saved my Mom some $$$$$ More drinks at DATW! She is really looking forward to that. Her eyes perked up when I mentioned it. :woohoo:

 When I read this, I thought of the Seinfeld episode where George takes a fill-in job moving cars from one side of the street to the other. :rotfl: George = Idiot :rotfl: I thought it was a joke. I never thought they really did that in New York City.

:goodvibes Jennifer

Oh, it's real all right, and it's a real pain. Just one of the reasons I wouldn't want to live in the city.

That is my understanding. A Passport just makes things easier, if a problem occurs when outside the US on a close-loop cruise, that requires you to fly home from the foreign port.

Back from day one of the film festival.

Saw Quebecois film, I Killed My Mother and French film, Conversations with My Gardener. Both very good.

Sleepy now.

Four films tomorrow.

Happy Saturday everyone!! It was great to see so many in Pete's impromptu Chat last night, just sorry I couldn't stay up later. I think that was the largest Chat group I have been in. Apparently none of us have a life to get 70+ people out for chat on a Friday night.

Morning, cruising friends!!! Loved the chat last night, stay around until about 1, but had to get some shut eye at some point..had to drive DP to work for some overtime ( :cool1::cool1:extra $$ :cool1::cool1: ).

Plan on going for a jog and stopping by JoAnn Fabrics to check out some FE stuff.

I should be a good grandson (read: I want to stay in the will) and visit my grandpa in the recovery home today.
Planning on going to bed at a reasonable hour so that I have enough beauty sleep to look presentable for Donna, her DH and DD tomorrow.

Oh and I think I am getting crazier. I have been shivering all morning. Its 60 some degrees. And I'm shivering. I think I need to move somewhere sub-tropic to improve my health. Yeah that's it. To improve my health.:thumbsup2

Have a great, wonderful day Todd. Looks like it is going to be a busy one. Chat was great last night>

Chat was fun last night! Scooted around 12:15 eastern.

Enjoy your Saturday!

A happy Saturday to all. Bummed I missed the chat. We were watching "Where the Wild Things Are". Weird. After that I was feeling sorry for myself and went to bed. Today will be a better day. :) I just know it! DS wants to go REAL bowling. This should be interesting. When was the last time y'all bowled for reals and not Wii style?

Good morning :goodvibes
I'm putting off my day as long as possible ;) Last night DS13 decided to make some of that Velveeta mac that comes in the microwave bowl...well...he somehow forgot to put the water in :scared1: I smell smoke, go towards that end of the house to find the livingroom and kitchen full of smoke. Luckily it hadn't caught on fire, just melted the bowl, mac noodles were black, son sitting in the livingroom on the computer oblivious to what is going on :headache: So once we got all the smoke cleared I realized everything now stinks. Used crushed charcoal to soak up the lingering smell overnight (worked quite well!). Now I get to spend my day washing the walls, ceilings, floors...fun fun...is it December yet? :scared:

Morning!

Hope everyone has great plans for their Saturday. Mine are the usual :goodvibes

Wonderful chat last night!

This has been me for years. Anything below 75 is cold to me.

UGH!!!!! Good luck today.

When you say crushed charcoal, I'm thinking bbq briquettes. I am guessing I'm thinking the wrong thing.

Between 30 and 80. Above is toooo hot. Below, and I have to wear a hat -- and I don't like wearing hats.

We live in an old house. High ceilings are nice in the summer. 90% of days require a fan, at most, But the house is never warm in the winter [even with furnace at full blast], so I'm used to the cold.

Yep, bbq briquettes! I was searching online for 'home remedies' to help with the smoke smell and found that on a site. You crush up the briquette and put it on a saucer of water. Strange but it really helped. I think today i'm going to try sitting one in the actual microwave to see if it'll help pull the nasty smell out of it. I really hate to have to go buy a new microwave, but gosh the smell in it is just awful :scared:

Are you making your own FE? I made ours when the kids and I cruised last year and swore I would never do it again ;) I did the 'no sew' kind with the glue, what a mess! I'm on the fence about giving it a go again or just hitting up Ebay!

Impromptu chat?! What?!! :( my DSL is down so I wasn't online. How'd you all know to go to chat?

You have a much better tolerance than I do. I only have a ten degree range. Between 75-85 is my ideal. But I LOVE hats! I just dislike the reason for having to wear them.

Isn't that interesting. And here I thought I was being too simple minded. I've never heard of the remedy. I hope it works for the microwave.

:wizard: DCL won't give a definitive answer. But, "recommends" proper documentation which includes a passport.

The reason we first got passports for our second cruise was because our children didn't have any legal picture identification. We didn't want to be out of the country, even to the Bahamas, without any real proof they are who we say they are. Also, being a paranoid Mom, I thought about the what if's like being stranded in St. Martin or an emergency like you mentioned. For us, it was peace of mind. :thumbsup2 It was NOT cheap when we went in to get the passports. Hopefully, one day I'll get a "real" stamp in it. Maybe, France, England or Italy. (Hint! Hint! Bill ;) )

Why would a discussion get heated on this topic? :confused3

:goodvibes Jennifer

Oh you should totally come to Europe (Hint! Hint! Bill ;) )

For those who are wondering--

Just got back from DS doctor. Hand surgery is healing well. He got fitted for new splint. Goes back in Aug.

Glad to hear that, I hope it is healed soon :goodvibes

Cool sounds like fun, do you choose which films based on the genre or decription or do you have particular directors you like?
