Hey Everyone...Just got back from the post office and applying for a passport booklet. Phew...That can be some process....Forms, money orders, pictures, documentation.... *faint*

Also bought airfare for PC 2.0 today. Prices have gone up quite a bit from a year or so ago, but still not too bad.

Given the time of year and the dates, I am content with the prices I am finding. I would be happier if they dropped, but that isn't very likely.:lmao::lmao:

Pricing on SW out of Indy was better two weeks ago when they first released the rates for December. The fare has gone up $23 per leg since the release.

Mine have stayed consistent. Except for Spirit. There's increased about 400%.

I have this funny feeling the price per leg will be dropping back down again. I usually check everyday and pick up credits for future travel before the flight. What day of the week are you flying on Tracey?

Had to drop off some overnight mail at the Post Office yesterday - I couldn't figure out was going on. I almost couldn't find a place to park - figured I'd be in line forever, but it was ALL for the Passport application window.
Those poor people must have been in line forever - I am so glad we got ours last winter :goodvibes
Prices for passports go up 35% starting Tuesday so I figure this is the week to get them.

Yea...I'm okay with it.

Yes, purchasing airfare a few weeks ago made my trip very real.
ADRS make it real.
Buying my pass before the pice increase in August will make it real.

I am off to the film festival!

Happy, happy days and nights sitting in air conditioned theaters! :goodvibes

Late hello over here today folks. Happy Friday!

Work is a killer on Fridays. Only time for the H E R S H E Y thread.

Hi George and John! I love this picture of you two.

Hi Anna. Long time no hear from. :wave2:

Everytime the add for Despicable Me comes on TV, Phillip says that the minions look like Twinkies. :rotfl:

We still haven't seen the newest Shrek or Toy Story 3. Shrek may already be gone from the theater. I don't even know. I'm hoping for TS3 this weekend.

Oh the shame. :sad2: Get with it girlie. :)

My husband is going into Brooklyn tonight to pick up his fathers mini-van and bring it to our house. My father in law is leaving for Italy tonight for 2 months and can't have his car on the city street because of alternate side parking, so what better place to have it than my house? I'm not thrilled because it's a bit of a piece of crap......OK, a large piece of crap. It was just TOO much to ask my brother in law (who LIVES with my father in law) to move the car back and forth each day, so we have to babysit it. OK, vent over, lol

Craigs List! :dance3:

The price increase for an Adult passport goes up next Tuesday from $100 to $135 and renewals from $75 to $110. Minor passports go up from $85 to $105. The passport card fee will also go up from $45 to $55 for an Adult and Minor from $35 to $40. A renewal passport card will now cost $30.

I double checked our passports. The kids passports expire in 2012 and ours in 2017. However, my Mom wanted to get one for the cruise. Does she really need it?????? Does everyone have a passport or passport card?

There's another thread somewhere on this board about passports. It got kind of ugly in the middle, but the gist was you don't absolutely HAVE to have one to cruise to the Bahamas and back because it's a "closed loop cruise" or something like that. However, if something were to happen (you became ill or there was an emergency) and you had to travel back to the US from the Bahamas in some other fashion, you would have to have a passport.

Your FIL is lucky to have you there to be able to look after it - how much are you charging

ha -ha!! That's a good one!!!

Craigs List! :dance3:

Oh, that would be good! My FIL is one person, however, he has two cars - one being a mini-van.... figure that one out. The other car is being parked in his driveway, thank goodness, or we would have had that one here as well.

I am flying into Orlando on 12/4 and home on 12/21. Right now, I am flying out of Louisville, unless Indy gets a deal, that is too hard to pass up.
I am watching prices at both Indy & Louisville. The pricing from a couple of weeks ago, was break even with the added cost to spend the night in Indy prior to the flight and parking.

:wizard: DCL won't give a definitive answer. But, "recommends" proper documentation which includes a passport.

The reason we first got passports for our second cruise was because our children didn't have any legal picture identification. We didn't want to be out of the country, even to the Bahamas, without any real proof they are who we say they are. Also, being a paranoid Mom, I thought about the what if's like being stranded in St. Martin or an emergency like you mentioned. For us, it was peace of mind. :thumbsup2 It was NOT cheap when we went in to get the passports. Hopefully, one day I'll get a "real" stamp in it. Maybe, France, England or Italy. (Hint! Hint! Bill ;) )

Why would a discussion get heated on this topic? :confused3

I got my Passport & Card last summer right after booking the cruise. I Had been debating on getting it since even travel to Canada was beginning to require it, and I occasionally get sent to upper NY with my Job for training. I also thought the Card would come in handy with the Name requirements with Secure Flight Regulations, thus I am covered with the Passport Card as ID - if my full name is printed on my Airline Ticket until 2012 when I renew my DL to the new Enhanced DL which I will then update my name to include my full Middle Name not just the Initial which is there now.

 When I read this, I thought of the Seinfeld episode where George takes a fill-in job moving cars from one side of the street to the other. :rotfl: George = Idiot :rotfl: I thought it was a joke. I never thought they really did that in New York City.

Maybe, I should have my Mom get the passport card instead of a passport. She has no immediate plans to go overseas. I'll run it by her. :thumbsup2

Good Morning Everyone!! Happy Friday!!

I will be spending the weekend getting ready & Decorating the Church Western Style for Vacation Bible School which run all next week at church.

Just doing a one-day VBS- really small church.

We think it will be funny. I don't know that it will fit into our schedule until it is released to DVD/BluRay.

Ditto. Going can cost $$. $$ that won't go to Dusney.

The Netherlands are in the finals for the World Cup!!!! Whooohooo :cheer2::cheer2:
There will be a party next Tuesday even when they loose the finals there will be a party to honor this excellent team!!!

They expect 1.5 million people :scared1::scared1::scared1: to go to this party.
It's being held in Amsterdam, if they win they will do a boat tour in the canals of Amsterdam and there will be a big podium on a big square.
If they loose (no they won't) then there will be only the podium on the big square.

Good luck.

For those who are wondering--

Just got back from DS doctor. Hand surgery is healing well. He got fitted for new splint. Goes back in Aug.

ANd not just NYC- when we lived in Chicago we had to be aware of which side of the street we were parked on and what day of the week it was.
It's a pain. :headache:
I was glad when we bought a house in a neighborhood where we didn't have to move the car!

Jennifer

If she did one or the other, I would recommend the actual Passport over the card, as the card is only good for border crossings into Mexico & Canada and as an accepted TSA Identfication.
