PMS in a Healthy Handbasket--Thread Abandoned--Move on, Nothing to see here

LB, thanks!! I hope to keep up the 10 lb a month thing... might make it down to 170 by my Disney trip in September. My ultimate goal is 145, but that might be pushing it.

Queso soup... mmm. Recipe??

I did absolutely horrible on Fri/Sat, but hopped back on yesterday. Yesterday I had celery and ff dip (100), a piece of bread(50) w/ 1 tbsp spinach dip (15) for lunch, then ff popcorn (200) for a snack, then 2 ff hot dogs (240) and a hamburger helper cheeseburger mac single (210). I also had some ff pringles, and one light swiss wedge (35). Total calories, about 800-900 or so. Under my 1200 but I figure a day or so of under after my utter binge on Saturday is probably a good thing!!

Today was apple jacks (120) in a 1/4 ff milk (25), a turkey sandwich (150), pork chop (160), mashed cauliflower (75), pineapple (50), and half bag of 100 cal pack cheetos (50). Yikes, only 630. I probably should eat something else...

And, lts, AWESOME!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Edit: forgot the 20 small shrimp I had with dinner, 100 cals. Decided to open a bottle of white wine, currently having a glass (150) with some cheddar (50), so that brings me up to 930 on the day.

I was bad tonight. Went to Beef O'Bradys for dinner and had a buffalo chicken wrap which is not bad, but decided to have fries with it. Bad me! Oh well. Changed breakfast food to Kashi Go Lean Crunch though. That stuff is yummy and I'm not a granola girl. Very high in fiber and protein.

Congrats Scrappy! That's great!

I love Kashi Go Lean Crunch!!! It is good in Yogurt also. I cheated a tad today with some Kettle Korn. I rationalized that it is high in fiber, right? :teeth: I didn't eat much else so I think I am okay.

Kat, only 630 today? Sounds like room for a beer in there! ;)

Sure, Kat, but it's far from low fat (which is what it looks like your plan is) :rotfl2:

I found this on the suzannesomers.com recipe forum -

Chicken Queso Soup

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 large onion, chopped
3 T butter
2 sm cans chopped green chiles
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 8 oz package of cream cheese
1 can chicken broth
1 1/2 cups of cream (recipe calls for half and half, but i think cream works fine. Or you can use 1 cup cream and 1/2 c. water.
4 t lemon juice
Garlic powder, cumin, cayenne pepper and salt to taste (start with 2 teaspoons and adjust accordingly)
1-2 cups chopped, cooked chicken. (I usually use however much I have left over. Also, it's good without the chicken.)
1 bunch chopped green onions (white part)
1 bunch chopped cilantro

1. Melt butter over med. high heat. Saute onion in butter until translucent.
2. Add green chiles and tomatoes (do not drain either one) and cook, stirring constantly, until about half of the liquid is evaporated.
3. Add cream cheese and cook until melted, stirring constantly.
4. Add broth, cream, lemon juice and seasonings. (At this point, I usually puree the soup with my immersion blender, but that's optional--it's good either way).
5. Add chopped chicken and heat until warmed through. Do not boil.
6. Serve, garnishing each portion with chopped green onions and chopped cilantro.

Howdy, Sharlon!

Hubby grilled some chicken thigh quarters that I had marinated in balsamic vinegar and olive oil tonight, which we had along with sauteed zucchini with tomatoes, and some leftover cauliflower with cheese sauce from a couple of nights ago. It was really good!

My DD19 coached me in some Pilates on my home Pilates machine this afternoon. I've had the thing for several years, but it's been gathering dust. DD has been getting free personal training for the last month from her friend who's working on her Pilates certification, so she wanted to show me how to hold my core area while I did the exercises. Man, that was tough! I had totally done it wrong in the past.

Yup! I also forgot about the 20 small shrimp that we grilled along with the pork chop, so that added about 100. I am drinking some white wine and had about 1/2 oz of cheddar, so I should get it up closer to 1200.

LB, I am just pure calorie counting. It usually winds up being low fat and somewhat low carb. I have been tracking on sparkpeople and I usually wind up somewhere between 20-40 g of fat and between 90-150 of carbs.

One of my fav sides is mashed cauliflower... boil or steam it until it is mushy, then add the same ingredients you would use for mashed potatoes. For lowfat I do ff sour cream, some butter spray, salt, pepper, garlic salt, and rosemary.

We marinated our pork chops and shrimp in lime juice, pineapple, caribbean jerk spice, and a bit of spiced rum. Skewered the shrimp, and grilled. Mmm.

Ooh, your pork and shrimp sounds so yummy!

I do a cauliflower casserole - steam the cauliflower, mash it with butter, sour cream, and cheddar cheese, then bake it and finish with a little crumbled cooked bacon at the last minute.

Ooooo that sounds good too!

We marinate and cook everything in alcohol... tequila in the fajitas, beer in the enchilada stuffing (chicken, beer, enchilada sauce, cilantro, onion, can of green chiles, in crockpot all day until chicken gets stringy)... red wine is great on steak... beer and old bay is good in seafood boils... white wine in pasta sauces...

I could write a book entitled Kat's Alcoholic Marinades, I think!

Haven't been here in a while. What with year end stuff and going to sis's house for the weekend, no time to keep caught up. Oh that and those evil Webkinz!

Didn't do so hot today. Had chocolate covered macadamia's for breakfast. My banana and yogurt for snack. Frozen meal and salad for lunch, cheese, crackers and chips for snack. Dinner was breaded chicken strips and coconut spring rolls.

Planning for a much better day tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Hello! My, have we all fallen off the wagon?

I was going to weigh myself yesterday, but I forgot to. I've been doing so-so. Went camping with mom and ate healthy the whole time I was there (she's disgustingly healthy in her meal planning and preparation). Last night instead of ice cream (which is now OUT OF THE HOUSE) I went with Strawberries and low-fat Cool Whip.

I fell off Fri/Sat but jumped back on, on Sunday... doing well on the diet, just been rather off the computer lately.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

I haven't fallen off yet, Lara, but I'm worried about tonight. I have to go to a cookout at church, and there's going to be burgers and lots of chips (my big weakness) and lots of homemade ice cream (my other big weakness). I haven't cheated at all for almost 2 weeks now, and I'm really trying to keep it that way until my weight loss really gets started. I'm not concerned about the fact that I haven't lost yet, because a) I always take a long time to start losing, and b) I don't really know for sure that I haven't lost anything, because I just bought a scale this morning and weighed myself for the first time in years.

The number wasn't as high as I was afraid it might be. Anyway, now I have a starting point.

All right, this is going to sound totally silly to some of you but I think some of you will understand it. When I looked in the mirror yesterday after my shower, I had woman curves!!!!!!!!!!! I had a waist and hips and not just one big round middle. It made me so happy. It's been a long time.

Yesterday's bkfst: bread and tea

L: half a tuna salad sandwich (light miracle whip, pickles, tuna, and whole wheat bread slice) and a cup of 1 percent milk.

D: piece of cornbread and a cup of 1 percent milk.

S: M&Ms and I didn't count them. Chocolate is my vice.

I also had two Cherry Coke Zeros and I THINK they triggered a migraine. I'm going to look for a pattern there.

Hey guys. I have been doing okay eating wise but drinking wise I am blowing the calories. I have been so tired from the heat that I have been drinking the caffeine to stay awake all day. I really really wish I had the luxury of a nap every day! DH is awesome and lets me sleep for 3+ hours on Sunday afternoons but what I really need is an hour or so each day.

So, the Cokes are throwing off my calorie consumption. I did go to the Y yesterday and that went well and I will be going tomorrow morning too after I drop the kids at VBS.

Paige, I *totally* know what you are talking about! My DH actually commented on it the other day, that the hourglass is coming back.

Aspartame can trigger migraines, I think...

My food for today:
B: coffee, 1/2 cup dry apple jacks (60)
L: LC Panini (300), salad (100),
D: Smart Ones Steak Tips Portabello (180) and Easy Mac (220), pudding (60)
Total, 920. I will likely have a 100-200 calorie snack when I get home from hockey to get me closer to 1200.

I have my work annual review tomorrow and I am nervous.

Let's see. Decent day here.

B'fast: bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch with skim milk
Lunch: omelet with sausage and cheese
snack: sugar free pudding
for dinner : it's pot roast with some veggie

I do really well with low carbs/sugar. I am down another 7 pounds since May 3 when I had a doctor's appt. Dental hygenist commented on how much weight I had lost yesterday.
DH who has been sooooo good and lost over 20 pounds since the end of March has been craving chocolate cheesecake for 3 days. The poor guy. I've got to find him some.

I did it! I made it through the cookout without eating a single chip or any homemade ice cream!

I had a hot dog (no bun) and a burger patty (also no bun), piled with lettuce and tomato and pickles and mayo and mustard, and I was still hungry after that so I had another bunless dog and then I stopped. Hubby did just as well. We're home now and we're going to have some sf jello with real whipped cream in a bit to reward ourselves for resisting temptation. :thumbsup2

I bought a scale today. I haven't weighed myself in years, but of course the doctor weighs me when I go there for anything, and I was afraid I had gone higher since the last time I was there, but I hadn't. I was at 162.5, so there's my starting point from here.

I've lost 3 pounds so far....not so much, but something.

I'm still having problems eating in the morning. I need to get some extra stuff at the store this weekend so that I can make lunch...I'm going to be bad today because we're calling out for lunch.

I was sort of bad yesterday, but it was a stressful day.

B: coffee
L: Chicken fingers, chips and dip
D: Salmon, rice and green beans (that was good at least)

So far today
B: coffee

I think I have made my 5 lb goal. I was looking back at my stats and I don't have one for June 12th (when I joined this thread). However, I was 194 on June 8th, and I was 189 this morning. Hopefully a few more lbs will drop off by July 4th as AF goes away...

WHERE IS EVERYONE??????

I have been gone a few days and we are still on the same page!

I have been not eating as well as I should the last few days. Mostly because I have been exhausted. Too tired to prepare food, eat food or even think about what I should eat. I have had a few things I shouldn't, but not anything really bad, just some popcorn and a handful of chocolate chips. Mostly I have just not be eating enough fruits and veggies and drinking enough water. I have also had a few white potatos because they were easy to prepare and eat (no chewing--to tired to chew).

I succomed to the WORST of all diet temptations this morning. . .

not a Hot Fudge Sundae

not a Cheesecake

not a bag of Chips

not a Cheeseburger and Fries

I stepped on the scale MID WEEK. Actually this morning--2 days before my official weigh in day.

I know. I should only weigh in on my weigh in day. It was a moment of weakness. It was also not a happy thing. The number as the same as last Monday. I am guessing this means I will NOT be losing 2 pounds this week as I had hoped. I am still hoping that I will make the 5 pounds by July 4th goal though. I am still down 4 and just need to lose 1 more by Wednesday.

Okay I have been busy working and blew it for a few days

but I am back on track and think I will make the 5 lb challenge
