PMS in a Healthy Handbasket--Thread Abandoned--Move on, Nothing to see here

I was down 2 pounds when I weighed this morning, and I was able to wear and be comfortable in a pair of pants that have been uncomfortably tight before this. My first bits of measurable progress, so I'm excited about them, small as they are.

I just got a magazine that tells what your zodiac sign says about you and weight loss

for example I am an Aquarius
it says
Innovative and creative your never afraid to try something new
But you hate restrications and routine and are quick to give up when your no
longer interested

Your biggest cravings: Heavy sauces like Ranch and blue cheese dressing and soda
Your star strategy:
Weight Watchers is best for you because it allows you to eat any foods you
want -- in moderation-- so you don't get bored

anyone want to know about their star sign diet tip
let me know...................

I am sitting in a hospital room. My father-in-law has been having seizures since Friday night so we are here keeping vigil. They still don't really know what is wrong.

Anyhow, this whole weekend is shot as far as the diet goes. We have been sleeping and eating where and when we can.

Oh, Kat! lots of prayers and pixie dust headed to your FIL.

Sagittarius

I am sitting in a hospital room. My father-in-law has been having seizures since Friday night so we are here keeping vigil. They still don't really know what is wrong.

Anyhow, this whole weekend is shot as far as the diet goes. We have been sleeping and eating where and when we can.

 Kat and major Pixie Dust coming your way. Just do what you need to to get by and realize that in an emergency you have to just try your best. BUT make sure that you do take care of you, and don't skip eating just because you can't find something healthy or that conforms to your "plan". You can't be any help to FIL or your family if you don't eat.

Usually you can find some healthy choices in a hospital so do your best. If you run home for some rest or to change clothes try to grab some fruit or snacks maybe in a cooler. You will feel better if you aren't eating fats and sugars, they may actually upset your digestive system at this point, especially with the stress.

:grouphug: for your entire family. Let us know what they find and keep us updated on his condition.

Well, I was frustrated with my dinner tonight. We went to a movie and I was really good and only had 3 smal handfulls of popcorn. The rest of the family shared 2 supersize tubs of popcorn between the 3 of them! So after the movie I as starving and they weren't!

But we went to Uno's for dinner. The kids like their make your own pizzas and I figured DH could eat a few pieces of pizza and take the rest of his home. I couldn't decide between a flatbread pizza or Lettuce Wraps. I decided to go for the no-carb and high veggie option of the Lettuce Wraps. Wow, did I decide wrong :sad2:

The menu said:
CHICKEN LETTUCE WRAPS
Tender cups of Boston lettuce that you fill with teriyaki chicken that's sprinkled with sesame seeds, cucumbers, red peppers, carrots and vermicelli. Served with teriyaki and Mandarin sauces.

I asked for it without the sesame seeds and the peppers cause I dont' like either.

It came covered in OIL! The lettuce--NOT BOSTON BIBB, but plain green leaf, was filled with oil. I had to pour it out into a bowl and then clean it off with a napkin. The cucumbers had also been marinated in an oil dressing of some sort. Not sure what "sauces" I got. One was a peanut style sauce, and the other was probably supposed to be the teriyaki sauce but it had 1/2 inch of oil on top of it (NO LIE) and it was in one of those little side sauce cups. And it tasted like balsamic vinagrette, so I am not sure it was teriyaki, I just set it aside.

I wasn't planning to eat the pasta anyway, which was good, cause it was swimming in oil and cold. DD liked it , but she will eat noodles of any form!

The waiter was really nice about it and offered to make me a salad that I could just put the chicken on with whatever dressing I wanted but by that time I had cleaned most of the oil off of everything so I just ate the chicken, lettuce, carrots and peanut sauce.

 NOT a good weigh in report. Same as last week. Not looking good to meet the Mini Goal unless I can lose a pound in 2 days

:badpc: (pretend the computer is my scale!)

Thanks for the well-wishes. I am still sitting in a hospital room, no real news. They ran a bunch of tests today so hopefully we will know something more tomorrow.

I did horribly on Saturday, and yesterday only had one meal (non-dietary) so it couldn't have been that bad. Today I am back on track, had bfast (frosted flakes and skim milk), lunch (sandwich), and about to have dinner. Also drank all my water.

Today I got to go home, about a 1.5 hour drive, and feed and water the cat and do some laundry and refill the suitcase.

Some good news, though, I weighed (even after lunch, which I never do) and was at 189, so I am holding my 5 lbs loss for Wednesday. :)

Also, work has been super-understanding and are giving me all the time I need.

Any update today Kat? Glad to hear that work is being supportive. That helps a lot.

TOMORROW is the end of the 1st Mini Goal Challenge! Weigh in and let us know if you made it to 5 pounds lost!

I came up with a new Mini Goal Challenge and posted it for the entire WISH board. You can take a look at it here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1504663 Post there if you want to join in and also just let us know here if you are interested! I was trying to be creative. I hope you like it!

I had a lunch date with older DD at Olive Garden today for lunch. I know--we eat out a lot in the summer. They used to have a Chicken Primavera dish that was low in fat and very good so I thought I would be fine eating there. They don't have it any more. I don't like their soup, so salad and soup was not an option. I took my best guess and choose a chicken dish that looked good and subbed ww pasta for the potatos. It was SOOOOOO good. It was not marked as low fat on the menu, but it was grilled chicken and veggies. It had an olive oil marinade but didn't seem overly "oily". I also had them bring the salad with the dressing on the side so I could just use a little.

I came home and looked on line and the dish I ordered was listed as LOW CARB!!! As long as you subbed the potatos for ww pasta!!! Am I getting good at this or what! In fact it was the only low carb lunch entree they list on their web site.

It feels good to know that when faced with a challenging menu I can make the RIGHT choices based on the lifestyle I have chosen. :cool1:

Well, I think I am going to hear and echo in here but:

:cool1: :cool1: I REACHED THE GOAL!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

204.5 this morning! I lost 5.5 pounds by July 4th. Anyone else reach the mini goal of 5 pounds?????

Kat

Scrappy....I weighed myself anyway....damn that Aunt Flo!!!! I didn't hit the challenge, but I think it's water retention. Even with Aunt Flow I lost 4.5 lbs...so I figure the half pound is her fault.

Today's meals
B: Special K (ok, store brand, but same thing)
L: Chicken Salad on WW with pretzels
D: (I'm making hot dogs...forgot to take anything out of the freezer last night)

Last night I made a yummy chicken strips dish, but the kids said that McDonald's chicken nuggets are better than mine.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :jumping2: :jumping2: :jumping3: :jumping3: YAY!!!

I am not sure if I made mine or not. I will weigh tomorrow, as we are headed back tonight.

We have results on my FIL, but unfortunately it most has shown that his diet and lifestyle was the cause of all of this. He should be here until this weekend, then they will be sending him to a managed care/rehab facility for a while.

I have been doing well on the diet for the last few days, although the weekend was bad. I have indulged in a beer or two, but lunch has been sandwiches and dinner has been dietary (Ruby Tuesday, Capt D's) and we have looked up the nutritional info beforehand and made good choices.

Hope everyone has a great 4th!

I have no clue about the 5 pounds. I don't weigh myself much, plus I had already been doing this whole eating healthy thing since late March, so have slowed down on the weight loss. I know I lost about 7 pounds since May 3. Now, if I could get my lazy daughters out of bed at a reasonable time, maybe I could actually go exercise in the morning.

DH "cleaned" the computer desk and misplaced the magaizine
I will find it after work today and post all the "sign" info

oh and I lost 4 by the 4th so I missed the goal by one:upsidedow

I had lost 2 pounds, then when Aunt Flo was on the way they found me again, but I spent yesterday peeing like it was going out of style and I must have let go the water I had been retaining, because this morning those 2 pounds had left again, and had taken a friend with them, because I'm down 3 pounds from my starting weight. Whew!

Baby steps, my friends, baby steps.

:confused3 WHERE IS EVERYONE???:confused3

Okay gals. I love you all but I think we all are really too busy to keep up with this thread. I really need a whole lot of daily ongoing support and want some South Beach specific peeps to get support from so I am going to focus my time at the South Beach forums elsewhere and just do my journaling here on the WISH boards. I am doing well and need the support to stick with this. If I don't I will never walk again--my last few weeks have really brought that harsh reality into focus for me. My life depends on losing 50-70 pounds and I need to join others that are as commited as I am and will keep me focused. I refuse to become permanently disabled and want to give this wheelchair back to Shug.

This thread will still be here, but I think it is obvious that there is really not a lot of interest in keeping up with it. I think I will change the thread title and just let it go. We can also continue to celebrate our losses on the PMS thread.

Keep being Loosers!
