No one invited me in any room last night.

Tomorrow is Dad's morning at school. I just called to remind dh. It's too busy at work so he isn't coming for Thing 2. Can you imagine when the other dads come in to eat and sit with their kids and my son's dad doesn't? Do you know how the five year old will feel? Will he understand busy? I want to cry. No uncles or grandpas to call either. No one will be there for him.

I just keep expecting change where there will be no change. Time to stop looking for it.

Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting there to be a different outcome each time?

Just can't stand the thought of my child looking expectantly for his dad and him not showing up. Hurts me right in my heart. It is not what I expected when we planned that pregnancy.

Paige, that sucks. Can he at least send a special note or card that he writes? Maybe you can break out the digital camera tonight and take some funny pictures that you can paste into a little comic book...something so he knows his dad is thinking about him.

Paige, will your DH at least do that, do something special for him that you can put in his lunchbox or something, as a surprise to him. I would certainly make sure Thing 2 knows he can't come and tell him why, so he isn't expecting him.

I will tell him. Although his father should tell him. But I am a teacher, I work on the other side, and I know that even if they are told, there is that kernel of hope, and I watch them look anyway, and I see the disappointment when they still don't come.

Trust me, a kid doesn't understand too busy for me.
