Hello everyone!!

I'm going back to Disney on December 5th-12th OR 10th-17th.

I haven't been since 2002. We stayed at POR that time (it was only my DH and I - celebrating our anniversary).

I want to bring my 17 year old brother and his 18 year old girlfriend with us. We WILL be sharing a room (since they are kids and unmarried)...

My budget is about $1400 for the 7 nights. I'm an Annual Passholder, and I know I can get a good rate once the AP rates for that time of year are announced.

I would LOVE to have it MUCH less than the $1400 if possible. I don't really want to stay in a Value resort because I'm afraid it will be loud with a lot of kids, and I also really wanted a sit down place to eat.

I am considering Boardwalk - I was quoted $2200 with the AAA rate (hopefully would go down below $1400 w/AP rate later)....but Contemporary and AKL look really nice too.

My brother visited Disney twice years ago, but didn't stay onsite. His girlfriend has never been to Disney (she is afraid it will be "childish" but we all know better! LOL).

What is your favorite Moderate or Deluxe resorts????

Thanks so much!!!

I really like the Carribean Beach. The atmosphere is really cool there and I think they do have a sit down as well as food court food.....good luck!!

Who knows what the codes will be this year, but when we went in Dec. 2002 we could have stayed many places for $200/night. We chose to stay at AKL for $175 (total) savannah view. I think standard view was around $125 (+ tax I think). We personally love the boardwalk area for adults. The parks will close early in Dec. but Epcot is open until 9 and the boardwalk is always open. One thing to consider is that you could get 2 rooms at most of the moderates for less than your budget. For this June (Dec. should be less) we were quoted $89+tax for POR totaling about $99/night. This way you would have extra space and privacy. I would think that you could stay at the BC or YC or Boardwalk for your budget. I think if I had my choice of the resorts for an adult only trip I would pick YC.
We have never stayed at a moderate, but plan to visit CSR or POFQ sometime this year because we want a budget trip and have heard so many good things about both.

If I had to decide, I'd choose based on which resort I'd enjoy the holiday theming. People love the WL during the Christmas season, and rates are usually pretty reasonable there. Good luck choosing!

I went through the online disney vacation booking system and was able to pull up 2 Mod resorts for under your budget.

Coronado Springs 12-10 through 12-17 7 nights 4 adults $1389.36 No tickets, jsut the resort. Water view room.

Same exact price for the Beach resort, form the same dates and people. Water, pool view.

For comparison,
Pop century preferred room $835
Animal Kingdom $1,943.48 Standard room

All of these were with no tickets and no discounts applied.

A side note about the value resorts, we stayed there one time and did not notice any difference in noise that any of the other resorts. But, the rooms may be a little cramped for 4 adults, although manageable

Thanks for the replies thus far!

I did consider two rooms, BUT my brother and his girlfriend are teenagers - older teens, but still kids none-the-less. It's a battle already trying to convince her parents to let her go with us (she turns 18 only the day before we would leave), and they definitely wouldn't let her go if the kids had their own room!

I've read a bit more on Boardwalk and I'm kind of leaning that direction more than the moderates.....

Please keep the recommendations coming!!

Thanks!!!!

I think you could easily reant a DVC Studio, possibly a 1 Bedroom from a DVC member. We went at x-mas for $1100, 3 nights at BCV and 5 nights at BWV.

Have Fun

Renting the DVC is a great idea...how would I go about finding about it?

The only problem with that is we have $1400 in Disney Dollars saved up (they are Disney Dollars, not cash) that I was going to use to pay for the room - I have vouchers for lunches & dinners and am going to re-buy the breakfast ones (I had them, but they expired next month, so I sold them to buy the current ones)...so I don't NEED the $1400 with the exception of the room, snacks and some gifts (I think we spent less than $200 on our last trip on sovenirs, etc)....

But, I'll definitely consider the DVC rental as my disney dollars never expire.....

Thanks!

Crystal
