Hi

I have a cash reservation for a woods view room at the lodge, but am able to rent points for a studio at half the price. The decor in the rooms seem much nicer (newly renovated) and coordinated. Also, the Villas seem a bit further away. Would you say the villas arent as nice as the main building rooms?

Thanks in advance

I have not stayed in WLV room but did 4 nights in an inner courtyard view room at the lodge through CRO earlier in September.

Great AP rate ($135 plus tax for a standard view. . . we were upgraded).

If it were me I would do the WLV when I could not get a discount.

The lodge room was very nice. . . new bed, new large LCD flat screen, new bedspreads and drapes.
The bathroom is roomy enough for me. . . granite countertop, double sinks, shelves above and below for storage with the tub/shower and toilet in separate area.

I also found the lodge rooms to be very quiet but we were there during a slow period. The walls must be better soundproofed than at Pop, and I definitely like the indoor hallways. There are also 3 separate banks of elevators (2 per bank) and we had one two rooms down from us so we had a quickie exit to the path down to the bus stop.

I walked by the WLV area every day to get to the bus stop (our room was on the south wing almost directly above the villas). To me after staying at OKW this whole resort was very compact and easy to manuever. How close the WVL area is to the bus stop is incredible. It is farther from the boat launch, but then everything is relative as it really is a compact resort.

I would save the money and do the WLV. Do the lodge room on a discount during a slow period and if you're lucky receive an upgrade like we did. That view, right above the waterfall was wonderful. . . I loved the sound of the it when we sat on the balcony, We could see the whole complex and Bar Lake, saw the electrical light parade but not Wishes (I was usually at the MK anyway since this is MY park).

I really like the 5 minutes or less bus trip to and from MK. Now I sort of wish we had bought at WLV instead of BWV but I know I can do the lodge rooms so I am happy.

I am hoping they redo the WLV rooms soon. Then I WILL add points there so I can snag a room in early December.

The studios do have a little kitchenette with a larger fridge than the lodge rooms and a microwave.
We mostly eat at restaurants using our DDE card so the smaller fridge worked fine for quarts of milk, water bottles cheese and fruit.

Is there normally cash reservation discounts for end of April?

Are there any plans to refurb/update the villas?

Thanks

There can be various discounts such as AAA, Annual Pass or General Public, but none are definitely going to be available for the end of April esp at WL.

Not sure on refurbs for VWL as they are only 7 years old.

Claire ;)

I have an AAA discount on it already, so its the General Publice code that I would need to make a noticable difference on the WL room rate. Suppose its unlikely I'd get it for all nights.

The villas do not have flat screen tvs. A studio has one queen sized bed and one double sleeper sofa. The kitchenette includes a microwave oven, a toaster, an undercounter refrigerator (larger than the cube sized refrigerators in the moderates and deluxes), a coffee pot. They provide paper plates and bowls, plus plastic forks/knives/spoons, two ceramic coffee mugs and maybe four glass glasses.

The VWL is the smallest DVC resort. Most of the views are woods views, a few have a view of the pool or the lake through the trees.

I've stayed in both, the rooms in the lodge and the Villas. You said you have the option to rent points for half the price? Even at the same price, it would seem to me a no-brainer. I'd definitely go for the studio!

No tax on the rental, about 12% on the lodge rooms.

I don't think the studios have jacuzzis, only 1 BR and above?

Hey, splurge for the 1 BR rental and get the jacuzzi and the washer and drier, plus more square footage.

Thanks, this is the kind of comparison that I need - someone who has been at both

Would love to, but its twice the price, and for just 2 of us I cant really justify it!

We have stayed at both WL conceirge level, and the VWL - in a studio. I would go with the villa just for the room size. The rooms at the WL are on the small side. We also found the villa's to be a lot quieter.

As stated by others - the whole place is pretty small and I would be surprised if it took more than 3 minutes to walk from the last room in the villas to the boat launch.

We have stayed once in a reg. room at WL. It had a queen and a bunk bed. It was nice and clean, but it was a bit noisier than over on the Villas side.

The studios at the villas I would prefer. It seems a bit bigger. I prefer the walk from the villas vs. the walk from the Lodge rooms. Part of it is outside under cover. One thing to remember, depending upon how long you stay, the villas dont have full mousekeeping service everyday. But we got used too it, and not having someone banging on your door while you are trying to get ready is sorta nice:thumbsup2

Ditto. The last time we stayed in the Lodge our room was NOISY. I was not happy at all. It seemed like we were right underneath a room full of washing machines. We actually took a trip up to the next floor to look but didn't see anything odd. Have no idea where all the noise came from but it was enough to wake me at night.

The villas we found to be very quiet. We were just there in Spring in a one bedroom. Of course, we were on the top floor so there were no loud rooms above us!

Now that I own at VWL, I can't imagine ever paying to stay in the Lodge rooms again.
