YAYYYY!! Waiting for the next installment ...Thanks!

The next installment will be up no later than Sunday. :thumbsup2

Sunday morning DSIS and I had planned on taking the boys to the pool but plans changed when DSIS had to go to the conference early to set up (she had originally planned on doing the set up on Saturday but was having to much fun). So it was just me and the boys off to the pool. We ended up having to go back to the room twice though because I kept forgetting things. Thankfully both times we had not even left the building yet when I remembered. Once we had everything we headed to the pool.

A little background is needed here. pooh: is slowly learning how to swim and :stitch2: can’t really get away from the edge without a floatation device of some sort. Both DSIS and DBIL had been working with both of them over the summer to try to get them ready for the trip. At home they use the large swim noodles when they go to the pool but we had to tell them that we couldn’t bring them with us on the plane. Secretly I had bought some of the skinnier ones at the dollar store and had them hidden in my suitcase. On Saturday morning I had taken them out of my suitcase before the boys were awake and they believed that Mickey had loaned them to us to use. The reason we had them thinking it was just a loan was because we planned on leaving them behind when we had to go back home.

Now back to the main story, once we had everything we walked around the lake to what they call the dig site. The pool area is absolutely fabulous. The only regret I had that day was that the waterfall was shut down.

StitchandPoohatpool1Sundayam.jpg

We stayed at the pool till around 2pm. During that time the boys had me try to teach them how to play ping pong but I am not that good at it so I think we spent more time chasing the ball instead of actually playing. They also insisted that I go down the water slide. I tried to get them to go down with me but neither one would. :stitch2: at one time went up on the bridge that crosses over the water slide to watch me come down it and a nice lady who was up there picked him up so he could see better over the side. When I got to the bridge I looked up knowing he was up there and had to smile because of it. It was so sweet of that lady to help him like that.

:stitch2: can be a bit of a flirt. If he sees a pretty girl he will sit there and talk to her all day. Well there happened to be two young women at the pool that he decided he had to talk to. It was so cute watching him try to charm them. He also made another friend with an lady about my age or a bit older. She thought he was so cute that she started playing shark with him. pooh: on the other hand is a bit more of a loner though he did make a friend of another boy a little older than him. They played for a bit in the sand area together. Once both boys were in the pool we started to play jail. One of us had to be the jailer, one the police officer and one the criminal. We ended up not playing long because :stitch2: could barely swim let alone fast enough to catch anyone when his turn for being the police officer came.

Around one I decided it was time for lunch which the boys had right there at the pool. :stitch2: had his normal plain cheeseburger and pooh: had a hot dog that he said was the best he had ever had except for the bun falling apart. After lunch it took me another 30 minutes to get them to go back to the room to get cleaned up and ready to go back to MK.

By 3pm we were all dressed and heading towards the bus. We had plans to meet up with DSIS at 6pm in front of Tony’s for our dinner ADR. Since we had a little over 2 hours to kill we headed for Tomorrow land but first we got a treat from the ice cream cart by the train station. I had a strawberry fruit bar and the boys got twin pops. Then we went onto TL where the boys made their first pin trades.

StitchesfirstpintradeSunday.jpg

PoohsfirstpintradeSunday.jpg

:stitch2: actually made two trades at that point because he decided he would like one of my tradable Tinkerbelles. So for the trade I got a monorail. I then explained to the boys the difference between the yellow and green lanyards after they finished their trades and from that point on :stitch2: kept pointing out to me every yellow lanyard telling me that I could make a trade with the person wearing it.

After the trading we rode the TA again and then headed over to Toon Town. We explored Minnie’s house and the boys took a lot of pictures. We found a few hidden Mickey’s there. By that time it was starting to get close to time to go meet DSIS so we took one last picture of the outside of Mickey’s house and headed for Main Street.

Up Next: Part 2 of A Magical Moment

Once we got outside of Tony’s we still had a few minutes to wait for DSIS so the boys spent the time trying to figure out how the statue of Goofy was talking. Once DSIS showed up she reminded us that we needed to get our wrist bands for EMH’s so the boys and I went to get them as DSIS already had hers. One line was very long but the other had no one in it so straight for the no line we went. Now that we had our wrist bands we went on to Tony’s and checked in. We had a bit of a wait but it wasn’t too bad. What was bad was the fact that I had come down with a very bad cold on Friday thanks to Dad (he had been sick the week leading up to our trip) and the cold and the heat of the day had me feeling very week and dizzy by that time. I was so great full once some people in the waiting area got up and we able to sit down till our table was ready.

Now do to my allergies the policy is the chef comes to the table to help figure out what I can and cannot eat. Our waiter kept trying to find the chef who had had to go downstairs to get some supplies or something so we ended up having to wait for the chef nearly 20 minutes. We had a great waiter, he was so friendly that it didn’t matter to us that we had to wait. I ended up getting the steak as it was the only thing that did not have anything I was allergic to with it. DSIS got one Chicken Florentine and the boys both got pasta’s off of the kids menu. That was one of the best steaks I have ever had and DSIS loved her meal. pooh: had gotten the ravioli and didn’t like it and :stitch2: had gotten spaghetti and meatballs which he liked. While we were eating we got a magical experience. The manager came to our table with a fast pass for all four of us to use that day because we had had to wait on the chef. That was one of the nicest things that happened to us that day. We ended up not needing it though so I have it for my scrapbook. Once DSIS and the boys were done with their dinner they went to the restroom while I finished up and took care of putting the bill on our room key. As I was getting up :stitch2: came and got me because he found a CM that he insisted I just had to trade with. So I went to see and she had two pins I was willing to trade for but I let :stitch2: pick it out. He picked out the Cinderella pin I had looked out. So that ended my pin trading for the trip since I wasn't willing to trade any more of the pins I had.

After dinner it was time for Wishes which we got a really good spot in front of the train station to watch it. Right before Wishes started DSIS took out of her purse a surprise for the boys.

PoohandStitchwithglownecklaces.jpg

She had with her the glow necklaces and bracelets that we had picked up from the dollar store. The boys were so sweet they shared their glow jewelry with us.

After Wishes we headed for TL were we once again rode Buzz. It stalled while we were on it and DSIS was able to really rack up the points. It was the first time she had beaten me at it all weekend.

From Buzz we then headed for Toon Town but it was closed down for EMH’s so off to Frontier land we headed. DSIS was able to convince pooh: to go on Splash Mountain with her but I could not convince :stitch2: at all. Oh and on our way to FL :stitch2: needed to use the restroom so we stopped while DSIS and pooh: went on ahead. Once we were on our way again we got lucky and found some more hidden Mickey’s. Since we weren’t going on SM we went to the little play area under the train station by SM. :stitch2: was going to play until we got there and saw a whole bunch of little girls playing house. :stitch2: decided he didn’t want to join in so he and I spent the time instead looking for more hidden Mickey’s.

After DSIS and pooh: got off of SM (pooh: loved it by the way) they wanted to go back to TL and ride Buzz again. :stitch2: and I were both tired and ready to go back to the room so we split up at that point. On our way back to the bus :stitch2: and I saw a CM in front of the Castle taking pictures so we had our pic taken as a surprise for DSIS.

Surpriseforsis.jpg

We then went and did a bit of shopping. I bought a pin each for both of the boys that I had :stitch2: pick out and because he needed to get a gift for his best friends up coming birthday party I also had him pick out that. He picked out a baseball that was red white and blue and had a Mickey image on it. After I paid for the purchases we headed out of the park, stopped to get a drink and got on the bus. Back at the resort :stitch2: took the glow necklaces and bracelets and put them on the floor in the shape of a Mickey head for DSIS and pooh: to see when they got back. They ended up getting back only about 15 minutes after us.

Up Next: Animal Kingdom and learning what not to wear on the rapids

I know I've subscribed to so many tr's lately, but I just couldn't resist yours.

Funny comment from your sister when she read someone's comment about how good the boys seem. Being a mom myself, I can totally relate and see the humor there big time. Made me really smile.

I am going to try and finish this report this weekend as I now have another one to write :teeth:

Our plans this morning were to be at AK in time for the Extra Magic Hours. Yeah right! Like the other mornings we did not get away from the resort at the time we planned. We did however make it to the park before 9. This was a first visit for all of us as AK had not been built until after the last time either DSIS or I had been to WDW.

AKMonday.jpg

After getting into the park we headed for the Tree of Life

AKTreeMondayam.jpg

Because DSIS had to leave to go to work by noon we had an agenda this morning as to what to ride. Our first ride was the Safari. We had heard that the best time to go on this when it is hot is first thing in the morning in order to see a lot of animals. We had only a 5 minute wait and then we were off to save Big Red and Little Red.

SafariMondayam.jpg

SafariAKMondayam.jpg

And guess what I found…….

SafarihiddenmickeyMondayam.jpg

A hidden Mickey on the safari.

Our next stop was the Tree of Life and A Bug’s Life. DSIS and I knew about the hornets stinger so we were both sitting forward when that part came but the boys weren’t (it would not have been as much fun for DSIS and me if we had warned them now would it?) :stitch2: looked up at DSIS and yelled "that chair poked me in the back!!" with a funny expression on his face.

Next up was Dinosaur. This ride was great. It had lots of dino’s, loud noises, smoke and some great surprises when you least expect them. The ride vehicle was supposed to be a time traveling rover. The pre show had Philicia Rashad who had played the mom on the Cosby Show back in the 80’s. The picture from the ride came out great so DSIS bought a copy of it.

After that DSIS and the boys rode Triceratops while I took pictures and video of it.

PrimevalWhirlMondayam.jpg

Animal Kingdom part 2

We then headed for Asia and Expedition Everest. By this time it was 11:30 and DSIS only had enough time to ride one more ride. Since the boys would not go on EE and it was a 30 minute wait we decided to go to the Kali River Rapids instead. This also said it had a 30 minute wait but it was no where near that. We practically walked on. Rapids rides have always been a favorite of mine ever since I rode the one that was at Opry Land USA years ago. This day I learned a few things though about riding a ride like this. #1 is don’t wear shorts that are a heavy material because THEY DON”T DRY. # 2 is don’t (and ladies this one is for you) wear a bra that has any padding what so ever in it as it will also not dry any time soon. Out of our boat load me and a gentleman from Austrailia were the ones to get soaked. pooh: also got drenched but not as bad as I did. DSIS and :stitch2: barely got wet and dried pretty quickly in the sun.

By the time we got off the rapids it was time for DSIS to head back to the resort. The boys and I went to the Maharajah Jungle Trek and searched for hidden Mickey’s.

MaharajahJungleTrekMondaypm.jpg

MJThiddenmickey2Mondaypm.jpg

MJThiddenmickey1Mondaypm.jpg

Then it was off to DinoLand to play in the Bone Yard.

TheBoneYardMondaypm.jpg

We stayed in this area for a good while then decided it was time to leave. On our way out the boys wanted to buy some things at the cart right by the Bone Yard so we stopped to look. Both of them saw a Tree Of Life play set that they wanted but I with the help of the CM convinced them they didn’t have enough money for it. They really did but I wanted to be able to get it for them on my next trip as a Christmas gift. So they instead got some dinosaur eggs. pooh: got one that was a plastic egg with a dinosaur transformer inside and :stitch2: got one that was like a rock that had to be chiseled to get to the dinosaur. That was not such a good idea as he worked on it that night in the bathroom and it made a big pink chalky mess. But he had fun with it so that is what really matters.

We then headed back to the resort where we had dinner with DSIS at the Pepper Market and did homework in the room as well as the boys playing with their new toys.

Up Next : EPCOT and a shocking but funny Turtle Talk

Here I am going to insert a little bit from DSIS’s blog because she describes the morning perfectly.

We started our morning with the too early wakeup call, just like the other mornings. Thanks Stitch (with a little bit of Mickey thrown in). I really expected that the kids would just jump out of bed and rush to get ready each morning ... but we had to practically drag them out of bed each morning. What is wrong with you people??? WE'RE AT DISNEY AND WE'VE GOT THINGS TO SEE!!

Another Extra Magic Hour early morning day, and another day when we left later than we had planned. Still, we were in front of the big golf ball (otherwise known as Spaceship Earth) before 9 am / the official opening time.

EpcotTuesdayam.jpg

Now, EPCOT is really spread out and that means a lot of walking. But, we've got a lot to do! So, we rush past Spaceship Earth and head to the back left corner of Futureworld to get to Test Track. The kids were excited about this, but a little apprehensive as well. Here we are, a really special family - we get to test out a new car, make sure it is safe and all.... The kids loved it. :stitch2: favorite part was the outside portion where we test the car at top speed. After we were done with the ride, we rushed through the high priced showroom but were stopped in the gift shop where the kids saw TONS of things they liked. pooh: got his own dirvers license but :stitch2: didn't want to waste $5 of his dollars on that. Here is also where the boys learned about the Kidcot stations. They each participated and got a car and a traffic cone each.

KidcotatTestTrackTuesdayam.jpg

Next up was Mission Space. :stitch2: was too small to ride and pooh: decided he didn’t want to so the three of us went around to the exit area and the boys played while DSIS rode it. When she came out she told me that it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as some make it out to be so I decided to go for it. The wait was not long and because I tend to get motion sickness on any ride that spins I went with the milder green side. I had been told this side doesn’t spin. About half way thru the ride I learned that it is one I will never repeat. I felt sick for the next hour which put a damper on the Energy ride we went on next. We enjoyed the Energy ride with Ellen. Last time I had been on it Ellen was not a part of the show. That of course was back in 1986.

After Energy we headed over to the Land as we had an ADR for the Garden Grill. While waiting for our table the boys spent time at the Kidcot station here

KidcotTheLandTuesdaypm.jpg

DSIS and I absolutely loved the food here. We ordered seconds of the steak, sugar snaps and baby carrots. During dinner we had several visits from Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. Dale was hilarious where DSIS was concerned. The first time he came around she wasn’t looking and he got right up next to her. When she finally turned around he managed to startle her pretty good. It had all of us laughing. The next time he came around she wasn’t looking again so he stood right behind her and put his face close up. Again when she turned around she jumped and Dale laughed and made the leg and arm movement like he was saying yessss!. It was times like that I wish I had thought to turn on the video camera.

DSISwithMickeyTuesdaypm.jpg

Pluto also gave DSIS a hard time when he saw what she had to drink. She had ordered a Mango-rita and he picked on her about it. In her words from her blog : hey, it was AFTER noon - somewhere around 2:30.

The boys got to decorate cup cakes for their desert

KidsDesertatGardenGrillTuesdaypm.jpg

and DSIS and I shared this

AdultDesertatGardenGrillTuesdaypm.jpg

After lunch we went downstairs to ride Living with the Land. DSIS and I have always enjoyed this ride but we miss the live CM narration. With the recording you can’t ask questions anymore. Plus there were some rude people on the boat with us that talked very loudly over the narration and DSIS and I would like to believe that they might not have done that with a live person (though they probably would have). :stitch2: wanted to go on it again as soon as we got off but DSIS had a fast pass to ride Soarin. Again the boys said no so the three of us went over to Character Connection while DSIS rode it.

WithMickeyandMinnieTuesdaypm.jpg

WithKingLouisTuesdaypm.jpg

Then we met back up with DSIS to go see Turtle Talk with Crush. Here I am going to again insert some of DSIS’s blog:

This was a GREAT show. We had to wait a bit, a lightbulb was out in the theater and they had to get someone in to fix it. But the wait was WELL worth it! Kiki got the whole thing on video. I was really glad that Zachary was the first kid picked to ask Crush a question. The interaction was amazing. Zachary asked how turtles and fish swim. The funny thing was the next girl asked the same exact question. The look on Crush's face was priceless!

One thing DSIS did not mention was that the next question was by Crush. He asked what it was that he had found (a bikini top). One little girl yelled out that it was worn over B**bs and the look that got from Crush was beyond priceless. His response was awwwwwkward. I am so glad that I got that on video. It was a once in a life time thing.

After Turtle Talk we went to the Imagination Pavillion where we saw Honey I Shrunk The Audience and Journey Into Imagination with Figment. At Image Works :stitch2: and I tried to send an email to DH and DBIL but apparently it never went through.

We then went to Inoventions East where DSIS and pooh: played on the computer systems and :stitch2: and I raced robots and made a robot each. By this time most of Future World was shutting down and it was starting to rain. Pooh: wanted to go ride Soarin so DSIS took him to that while :stitch2: and I tried to go ride Test Track again but it was shut down till the rain stopped. So we then went over to the land to ride the boat again but it was already closed for the night. We ended up spending our time looking for hidden Mickey’s instead. When DSIS and pooh: came out pooh: excitedly told me that I had to ride it. He thought it was the best thing ever. By this time it was around 8 and the boys were getting hungry so we started to head to Mexico to get something to eat but with the rain we ended up changing our minds and heading back to the resort where DSIS went down to the food court and brought some dinner back to the room for us all while I took the boys and got them cleaned up and ready for bed. Of course the first thing I saw when the boys and I got back to the room was the dreaded not to be named thing on the door.

Up Next : One last magical moment

Our last day. The Magical Express is to take us to the airport at 11:15 am. DSIS and I start getting things together as soon as we wake up. We take down all of the decorations we put up, pack our bags and get the boys up and dressed. DSIS was still packing when I finished so she sent me on a head to go to the buisness center to print out our boarding passes. While I was leaving my luggage with the luggage room and printing out the boarding passes DSIS headed towards the front with the boys. At one point she stopped to adjust one of her bags and when she did the suitcase she let go of fell back and hit :stitch2: in the mouth. At that time a CM happened to be driving by with a couple of ladies headed to the front in a golf cart. They stopped and helped DSIS take care of :stitch2: then gave them a ride up to the front. The CM even took care of taking her luggage to the luggage room for her. I met up with DSIS and the boys in the gift shop where she told me what had happened. After we were done in the gift shop we headed to the bus stop for the ME. DSIS was sitting on a bench while we waited for the bus when the same CM that had helped her came up to her and gave her some really nice photo images of the parks. That was truly something magical in our minds that the CM would take the time to search her out to give her those. DSIS made sure to send an email praising him to Disney when she got home. They even called her back one day and thanked her for her nice comments.

At the airport we had plenty of time till our flight so we got some lunch and I went into the Crocs store and bought a pair of the beach (I had blisters from my Mary Jane Crocs because they have a slight ridge on the inside sole that rubbed the ball of my foot). The beach were wonderful to wear. So comfy.

Soon enough it was time for our flight so we went through security and got in line. On the flight home I sat next to :stitch2: to help him finish his homework while DSIS sat next to pooh: to help him with his. This also allowed the boys to both be able to sit next to a window. Once we were back in New Orleans I took DSIS home and then drove the hour back home to DH, Dad and his wife.

I've really enjoyed reading your trip report and seeing your pictures! Trip reports like this one are just great...THANK YOU!! :thumbsup2

Thank you for reading it. I really enjoyed writing it and now I am working on my TR from my more recent trip with DH.

Thanks for sharing. You have a very special dad. I know you know that. Sounds like a great time. Your sister is very lucky to have you. What a great way to help her out, spend precious time with the nephews, and have a mini vaca all at the same time.
