Playgrounds in the parks?

My kids are older now so I haven't paid attention to where any playgrounds inside the parks might be. I know during F&G Festival they usually add some in Epcot but I don't know if any are permanent. My brother is going down next week with his almost 4 year old twins. They aren't huge into rides yet so he asked me to let him know about other things to do if they get bored with or don't like the rides. I am listing things like the hedge maze behind England and Casey's Splash and Soak area in MK. Basically anywhere they can run around and blow off some steam if they get bored.

Are there any playgrounds inside the parks anymore? Thanks!

I can't remember if that park in Epcot was open in October. I don't think it was. The OZ themed one? But that would be one if it is.

MK has the Dumbo play area now while you're in line for Dumbo. If they want to play you get a buzzer, go into the area, then when you're ready to get back in line, you hand the buzzer back and just rejoin the line right there. You can sit in there as long as you like.

DHS had the Honey I Shrunk the Kids area, but that was being refurbished or torn down completely. I'm not sure. Can't remember.

AK has the area over by DinoLand that they can play in too.

I realize this is not much help. LOL Because I can't remember if they're open.

DHS's Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area was being partially refurbished (the spider net) last week but the rest is open. It's a good area to burn off some energy but it tends to get pretty crowded by mid-day much like any other attraction. We had it to ourselves around 10:30a.

The Boneyard in AK's Dinoland is another area. Ditto on the crowd.

Epcot has one at the exit of the ride Mission Space. Now it is a bit hard to find but you go in through the store at the exit. Turn right and head down the little hallway. You may think you aren't supposed to be back there but it's all good because there are games and a play area inside the next room. The playground is similar to those inside fast food restaurants in this one (the plastic tubes and slides).

They do not have to ride the Mission Space to be able to play. In fact, my nerds (errrr, I mean children) go in just to play the astronaut game every chance they get.

Hope they enjoy their visit.

Thank you! I totally forgot about the Boneyard, we are usually only at AK for 1/2 day and rarely make it back there.

My kids are older, too, so not really paid close attention. But isn't there a little play area as you come off of Splash Mountain? Maybe someone else can say more about that one.

And don't forget Tom Sawyer Island!!! Great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle and lots to explore, areas to play, etc.

Also at Epcot the dancing fountains are great.

Just got back a few weeks ago with DS 2 and DS 4.

DHS - Honey I shrunk the kids playground is pretty good and was basically fully open. Refurb was just a spiff up, not an overhaul.

AK - Dinoland is a great playground, kids favorite.

EP - Go to test track exit. They have all the chevy cars on display. My kids could have spent a day there pretending to drive the cars and trucks.

Bpoardwalk - The Boardwalk hotel has a decent playround next to the clown pool and it can be easily accessed from the path that leads from Boardwalk to DHS.

I know this is an older thread- but the one at AK sounds great- We are going next month with 2.5 year old triplets. Is it something that would be pretty friendly for kids that young? They do well at our local toddler playground and with a lot of stroller time, I know they are going to want to burn off energy somewhere!

Thanks!
Heather

Its a big area, some parts are better for bigger kids some smaller. Try to find the pit full of pea gravel where they can pretend to uncover the dinosaur bones, good place for little ones to play out of the sun.

DD loved the Boneyard at that age. There was a small section off to the left when you walk in that had small stairs and a couple of slides. Lots of area to run around in. And the pea gravel area, you have to go over the bridge and to the other side to get to it.

My niece absolutely loved the playgrounds in AK and DHS. She could have spend hours in there if we had let her.
