I'm planning to buy into DVC via resale (hoping for BCV) but won't have the cash until May or so as I want to wait until taxes are due.

I'd ideally like to travel this October (week of 19-25) with a stay either at VB for a week (2-BR), or any resort at WDW (2-BR).

What are the odds that, if I'm able to buy in and close a deal by mid-late June and get the points at that time, that :
1) I could get a 2-BR at Vero Beach for the week
2) I could get a 2-BR anywhere at WDW for that week (I'd prefer BCV, but antiicpating no 2BR villas will be available during food and wine. I know I won't be able to get the high demand ones like BW standard, BW Boardwalk view or AKV concierge)

I can't speak for VB, but for WDW, I made reservations at the 7 month mark for that week, and OKW and SSR had 2 BRs available. From the October wait list thread, it looks like there are a number of people at AKV and VWL who are waitlisted for BWV and BCV so maybe if there's movement at those resorts, the waitlist may move you to another resort.

At this point, we're excited to try OKW!

I made a reservation at 7 months for that week as well. We already had most of the week BW Standard (this was three weeks ago mind you).

No Boardwalk or Beach Club at all. Single digit availability that day at VWL and AKL (I was toying with AKL and was booking VWL, she said if you want either of those rooms, book them now, they won't be availability by the end of the day). Some availability at OKW and more at SSR.

Oh, if you make an offer in May, you won't close until June - or more likely July and may not be in the system for eight to ten weeks from the date you make your offer. By July, I would expect all WDW resorts to be full that week.

If OKW or SSR are available (for 2-BR vaills) and I book at one of them, but get put on a waitlist for another DVC resort - should my waitlist come through, is there any problem given that the point totals are different?

For example, for my dates, OKW is 120 pts and SSR 145 pts, and for all others at least 160 points. If I had 160 pts to use, is there any penalty if the reservation is changed from a lower point requirement to a higher one?

No, as long as you have points to use. But I don't think you have much of a chance, waitlists have been in place for months already.

I'd be happy at either OKW or SSR (2-BR in October). Would my chances be good for either, if I book 3 months out?
