Hi all-

I'm pretty new here, so first off, this place rocks :)

The fiancee and I are starting to plan our Disney Honeymoon and I'd definitely relish any input you might have.

We're both big Disney Junkies...in the 5 years since we started dating, we've been to WDW 6 times. I proposed to her over dinner at CRT in May07, and she'll be running the Minnie Half-Marathon in Jan09. We were hoping to do a wedding on property, but ruled it out due to budgetary concern and guest issues.

So...we're definitely going to do our honeymoon there. Guess we really don't know where to start. We normally stay at the various values, but we're thinking of doing Contemporary Resort for the big week. We're also considering YC/BC, Boardwalk, and Grand Floridian. Any insight there? Other suggestions?

I guess even backing up a bit, how long would y'all suggest? We were thinking of 7 days or so, with at least 5 days worth of park tickets. I'm sure a couple of days will be spent lounging by the pool, enjoying a massage, or just sleeping in.

Any great dining options for newlyweds? California Grill is a must for us...we loved it the first time around. We're also thinking of breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at CRT again. Aside from that, no other things really come to mind as must-do (well, aside from Cosmic Ray's for lunch :woohoo: )

What about other activities too? We definitely want to do the spa, and probably rent some of those little boats at one of the marinas for an hour or two.

Are there any special honeymoon rates, or is it normal pricing?

Thanks in advance everyone!

Hi!

I'm just starting to plan my Disneymoon for June 2009. We are getting married on Friday so we are doing our honeymoon from Saturday to Sunday, with one day at Sea World (I have to make some compromises! LOL! My feeling is "Why leave the property!!" :rotfl2: )

We also are big fans of the values but have decided to stay at a Deluxe Resort for our honeymoon. When I was there with my mom in April, we stopped by to check out the Boardwalk and I absolutely fell in love with it so that is a definite!

Hoping to see what suggestions people have for great places to eat, etc!

Have fun planning!

First off, Congrats to the both of you! It seems that planning our Disney honeymoon has been a bit of the stress reliever in planning our wedding. We're not doing a Disney Wedding, mostly due to the money issue and all the people we have to include but that's okay...we still get to experience WDW and have it ALL TO OURSELVES! Well, with the exception of everyone else who will be there at the same time! We are doing 7 days as well, and I have a feeling it won't be enough time. Never seems to be.

As for eating, we're not doing a lot of the really fancy restaurants, but going more middle of the road. We're doing California Grill (during the Wishes fireworks!!!) and CRT as well. But we're also doing Captain Jack's the first night we get there, Ohana breakfast (DF loves Stitch), Hollywood Brown Derby (with the Fantasmic! Package), Coral Reef, Akerhaus Princess breakfast, and Sci-Fi Dine In. We're doing the Coral Reef for lunch though instead of dinner, since they were booked up. Instead, that night while we're at Epcot we're doing a "sampling" of the World Showcase for dinner. Not necessarily full blown meals, but a little something from each country, be it a snack, dessert, drink, etc., to make up our meal. Kind of our own Food and Wine Festival, since we won't be there at the time of the real one. We figured it'd be somewhat romantic as we could get different items and share. We're also doing Sci-Fi for lunch and then eating dinner at our resort restaurant so we can return to the room and get our stuff together for when we have to check out the next morning. I have a feeling that 11 am check out time will come waaay too early, so the more we have ready, the better.

As for activities, we don't really have much planned out. We're just thinking of doing the boats, swimming, and the like during the afternoons when we break from the parks to get some rest and relaxation while the crowds are at their peak. The spa sounds wonderful, but I don't know if we'll make that one.

And special pricing? Not that I've heard of, unless you count using your Honeymoon Registry Gift Card to pay for things!

Whatever you decide to do, have fun!!! And Congrats again!

We honeymooned at WDW for 6 nights after our honeymoon cruise and I think that 7 nights is plenty with the idea of having a couple of days doing some relaxing and spa/pool time.

I stayed at the GF for the first time last year sadly without my hubby he was unable to join me, but I absolutely loved the resort although I have to say I wanted to spend so much time there that I didn't want to do much of the parks LOL

We love the Yacht and Beach Club and have spent our first romantic vacation at the Yacht together and then we stay at Beach Club Villas on our anniversary a couple of times but that gives us full access to the Y&B - I love these resorts and it's a great romantic location for being able to walk to Epcot and then walks around the Boardwalk at night, very nice

Boardwalk, I've stayed here too but I'm more a fan of the GF, Poly, Wilderness Lodge and Y&B club for deluxe choices.

The Contemporary is fun but I know they are doing building work there at the moment and not sure how long that is going on for - I've visited a friend in the Tower Theme Park View and that is soooo awesome!

Dinners - Oh I agree with your choice on California Grill, this is a must do for us. Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge could be good for you as well as you can get a boat from The Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge - it's a romantic setting. Narcoosees is lovely too and around the Monorails. We did CRT for the first time together in May and of course you guys have to do that given your proposal, very romantic. Kona Cafe is nice for a meal too, breakfast or dinner.

We like the Character breakfasts - I'd deffo suggest you call 180 days out for Chef Mickeys it gets soooo busy and booked up.

Have you thought about doing a Segway Tour around Wilderness Campground? I know there would be other guests there too but it's fun or just taking a walk around there is pretty something.

Let me know if you need more suggestions.

I don't think that Grand Floridian is worth the money quite honestly, but I LOVE the Wilderness resort! There is something special about being on the monorail line though so in that case I'd suggest the Contemporary tower or the Polynesian.

Narcoossee's isn't cheap but df and I had a WONDERFUL meal there last year. If you really want to splurge, Victoria and Alberts is incredible...AMAZING service, great food. It was about $250 for the two of us (we went for Valentine's day 2007) but totally worth every penny. It's fun to get dressed up too! You'll need to wear a jacket there and your wife perhaps may wear a dress or something similiar in terms of dress code. And it's fun pressing "#2" on the phone for Disney Reservations for "Victoria and Alberts"!!! :lmao:
