Pirates & Princesses Party - Don't bother!!

I posted some inside the park pictures earlier in the thread. (we were there 1/26 and 1/29) While I fully agree that it lacked in decor there was some. Cinderella's carriage was out. There was a backdrop prop for Belle to stand in. There was special lighting in a lot of places. Like there was princess shaped silhouettes here and there, there were pirate ones on the buildings on main street. There was a lot of cool colored lighting and "smoke" around the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. There were twinkling banners that said "Princess Party", "Pirate Party". They played special music on the park speakers. Over by by Space Mountain they had some pirate things set up where kids could play games (at least I think that is what they were doing) and they had a cool pirate backdrop where you could have your pic with Mickey and his crew in Pirate gear. Hmmm... That's all I can remember right now.;)

The other parties seem so much more themed but that has to be because those decorations stay up for a month or more at a time.

I guess I can remember some of that... it just wasn't very memorable :guilty: I completely understand why the decorations are much fewer than other parties... It makes complete sense... It was just not the best I have seen from Disney.. that is all.:sad2: Thanks for reminding me what was there.

Again, I don't think the decorations should be a deal breaker... you are getting into the park for more than half the price, the parade is fun, the fireworks are amazing, and the short lines are terrific.

You did point out that there were no characters at dinner. I was only pointing out something that you had "researched," that is very easy to find information on. A lot of websites and guidebooks make a point of saying that breakfast and lunch are character meals, but dinner isn't. If it had nothing to do with your point, then why did you complain about the lack of characters in your OP?

For me, the Princesses not being at the CRT was not a big deal, that's why I put it in brackets rather than going on about it in great detail.

You pick up on one little detail that wasn't very much related to my post, and take it to the extreme.

And, we were a party of 8, two families. The other family wanted to go to CRT and approached us about it. We agreed, but I didn't book that one, they did. I did the research as to what day and time would be good for CRT based on the Disney Calendar that was on their website. It was the only ADR out of the 6 we had that I didn't take care of, and is why I didn't stress it significantly other than to point out I thought it was not very good value. I didn't bother researching it, they told us about it being a character meal with the Princesses. But, even if I did take care of the ADR, what does it matter if I had of missed a little info about it? People make mistakes, to point out those mistakes to the point of flaming someone about it is rather rude.

Why do people go out of their way to try and twist things so much? I made a post describing what I thought was not a very good way for a particular situation to be handled, why I thought so and how the disappointment of a below-standard meal for the price (IMO) was the beginning of a not so pleasant experience. The significance of my post had very little to do with CRT, yet somehow, that's what people concentrate on. Good grief.

Stick the topic at hand, please.

I think enough has been said about this ;) ... sorry you got rushed out of the park during your picture and you had a not so great experience at CRT... Hope next trip to MK is better for you!

Well ... I think maybe people veered off the topic because you did, in your initial post. You said here that the princess comment was kind of a throwaway, but yet you made it in your initial post, as part of the 'proof' that the CRT dinner wasn't a good value. But, to your point now, whether or not the pricesses were at the dinner had absolutely nothing to do with the schedule change and how you were treated while leaving the park, which WAS the main issue. However, since the princess thing was such an obvious error -- and, it seemed from your post, a significant trigger to a bad experience -- people jumped to single that out. Some people did it much more politely than others, but I don't think you can now come back and criticize other folks for not sticking to the topic at hand when you didn't to start with. (My opinion only ... YMMV.)

I agree, if you didn't want it to be discussed, you shouldn't of put it in your original post.

Some took it upon themselves to claim I was contradicting myself with regards to how well I did my research. When, in fact, they erroneously assumed I did the CRT research and booking, which I didn't (as I explained in the previous post).

The CRT refernece had more to do with the timing of it in regards to us leaving CRT just at park closing time (or so we thought) and the unfortunate way we were treated as we exited CRT. My complaining about the low-value of the experience had little to do with my original point. It was nothing more than a minor catalyst to the whole issue and that's why I simply put it in brackets in my original post and didn't dwell on it. I was wrong about it being a character meal, agreed, but what does that have to do with my original point? Nothing! But, some didn't bother to consider what I was really trying to say and concentated on the insignificant part of what I posted.

I will defend myself anytime someone challenges me or posts in response to me in a rude manner, that's my nature, always will be.

This didn't affect our Disney vacation as bad as some think. We hand an excellent time, was not our first Disney vacation, and will not be our last one either. We simply had one unfortunate experience that could have been handled much better than it was.

The one big disadvantage of public forums -- people comment on what they read because it's all the info they have. Had it been known from the beginning that the CRT research and booking had nothing to do with YOU (you didn't plan or make that reservation), most people probably wouldn't have mentioned it. But, as I said in a PP, it was such an obvious thing to folks here, that it would naturally be the first thing they jumped on. In the "but if you hadn't been upset about the princesses, the rest of the evening would have been fine" vein of thinking. Even though, as you said, the princesses had little or nothing to do with the evening going so badly.

Agreed! Glad to know that you'll be back. I say, be on the lookout for the CMs you encountered, and take 'em out with your tripod! :thumbsup2

Agreed, public forums can be a difficult beast for many. It's frustrating when people stray off topic. I don't think we can write every detail in a post though, because the topic at hand can get easily lost if too much info is thrown out there.

I've been involved with message boards for years. Many of them have been flame fests. I expected something better here, and for the most part it is much better than the typical flame boards. I guess there will alwys be a few who tend to get off topic and resort to rude tactics. C'est la vie!

I don't think anything I said was rude.

If you don't think anything you said was rude, I don't believe pointing it out to you will do any good.
All I said was that if you had done research, you would've known that dinner was not a character meal, and that you seemed to be contradicting yourself. Please explain to me why you consider that rude.

It's not what was said, rather, how it was said. Very much the same situation as how the CM's treated us. Why is it necessary to be so condescending?

Your response made some assumptions too, never assume anything.

I went by what you said. If you had given me more information, I wouldn't of said it.

Perhaps, but it had very little to do with the topic at hand, so it wasn't necessary.

Now, since you asked me to point out your behaviour, would you like to address your condescending attitude?

After reading your posts....this may be why you had a less than magical experience. I have been in the parks at closing numerous times and have always been treated with respect.....or course....I am respectful too. As you stated, maybe, it's how you said it.....not what you said.....or possibly you weren't treated as badly as you believe.

See, I don't think I was condescending. You stated a point, (no characters,) and I called it out. You keep on saying that people are being rude for bringing it up, and saying that wasn't your point, but we wouldn't of brought it up if you hadn't mentioned it in the first place. After two pages of posts, you said that it was because someone else had booked it. You could've saved a lot of trouble for yourself if you had said that in the first place, or you could have never put the no characters into your post in the first place.

Telling people they are rude and condescending for discussing something you posted originally is not helping.

where is the moderator on this thread? :confused3

IMO this thread has run its course Ii'm unsubscribing to it
