Anyone been to this dinner show off site? Sounds like fun and we'd like to give it a try. Shows start at 8pm, doors open at 6:30. Why so early? Should we get there early? Is seating based on when you get there? How long does the show last? Is it good for 7 year old? DD can take scary, loud noises - I mean is it APPROPRIATE (nothing sexual, bad words, etc) for her age? Is the food any good? I've looked at their official site, but I wanted "real people" answers.

Thanks so much ~Mary

P.S. I've tried to search for this (among other things) for the last 3 days on the boards with no luck. I keep getting a *server failure* type message :furious:

Needed dinner somewhere after running the races, kids did not want a character and I wanted something different from Disney where it might not be so crowded. Decided to try since Ticketmania had a great price and kids all like pirates. pirate: pirate:

You go early because they have an appetizer buffet set up and a pre show in the outer room. DS was selected to be part of that show and the inside show (have to be older), but they had a time for younger kids to participate as well. They have a mini museum, gift shops, face paint (fee), fortune teller (fee), they take your photo (and show you later). Appetizer food was chips, meatballs, pastas, ham, several salads, some hot appetizers.....could have been a dinner and it was average. When you check in they give you a color and that will be the section you sit in and your pirate to cheer for. Once all this is done they open doors and you go in by color to your seats. Stadium style seating around a large pirate ship. Adults and kids are asked to participate. During show you are served. Choice of shrimp w/lobster sauce or chicken leg/thigh with roast beef (stew meat) in gravy. We had salad, side dish, drinks (including beer but DH swears it was near-beer), apple cobbler with ice cream. Food was typical of those dinner shows but between outside and in it was enough. Show was very good, very athletic and we had fun cheering. Two maidens, Princess and her hand maiden who is quite the acrobat. Even my DS who is disabled and hates explosions, noise and cheering did just fine (earplugs) and cheered. After show is done you go back to outer room where they have a dance with a DJ. We stayed about 20 minutes and then headed back.

Fun night, something different and we got tickets for a good discount.

Thanks. I also plan to order the discount tickets. :thumbsup2

Anyone else been there?

We hated it!! Way way to loud, people screaming. Food pretty bad, not even any bread. Thank god we have 1/2 off tickets. We would not return.

cwnhokie - thanks for the link. I've tried searching for prior threads, but that function is still not working for me. Sounds like ya'll had fun.

2boyshere - thanks for your info also.

I am really torn now - several people on both sides of this one (lol - like everything else). I have a couple of months before I need to decide - thanks for everyone's input!

I think if you are going to one of these "Dinner Shows" wanting to get GOOD food, then don't go. If you think they will be quiet and not involving you in the show, then don't go.

We've been to a few, the food is average to not. Pirates actually gets some reviews as having the best dinner theater show food :confused3 Every one we have gone to, they involve the audience, some are cheering, that is just the nature of them.

I would never do one on a regular basis nor for full price. We wanted something different, upbeat (maybe enough rowdy), that the older kids would get a kick out of. Take it for what it is and decide if that would be fun for you.

Hopper - that is exactly what we were thinking! Great food - who cares? None of the "great" dinner shows at WDW had "great" food either. We want it to be upbeat and fun - not quiet.

While I would LOVE to go to La Nouba, that is not my DH's thing - so I think funny and rowdy would be right up his alley! We will probably give it a try - at a discount, of course.
