My family has an upcoming cruise on the Disney Dream, I have researched online and I can not find information. My son is a very picky eater with a very selective menu, I am trying to find out if the cruise line can make grilled cheese with Texas Toast as this is the only type of bread he will eat, or can they make a cheese pizza without sauce? Any information that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. I did email Disney in regards to grilled cheese being made with yellow American cheese and they did say that yes they can do that. I am starting to fear that my son will be miserable all week if they can not make food he will eat. These are really the only 2 things that he eats.

He will eat pancakes for breakfast but he is special needs and right now this is the only things he will eat, he used to eat chicken nuggets but not anymore, he will eat peanut butter sometimes and applesauce, he does drink carnation breakfast drinks as a supplement. I am just trying to make the cruise as enjoyable as I can for him.

I appreciate that. I think it may be at tall order your are requesting though with a specific brand of bread that may not readily available to the cruise line. Did they specifically say they could provide that to you?
When is your cruise?

Regarding the pizza - maybe the pizza place up on the pool deck can accommodate you.

With so much food readily available, maybe its a good chance to try new foods also. Good luck and enjoy.

Have you spoken with the Special Services department? Or just the regular Guest Services email? Make sure it's the Special Services department and that your reservation is noted for anything requested. No guarantee, as food supplies can vary depending on what's available, but they will try based on what they have.

As others have said, DCL cannot and will not prepare any food you bring onboard. Anything you bring should be prepackaged, essentially ready-to-eat or at least doesn't require cooking. I've never seen Texas Toast bread onboard. I believe the grilled cheese option that has been available on the room service menu was cheddar, not sure if they had different options available on request. If the pizza doesn't come pre-prepared (like frozen), they should be able to leave the sauce off for you.

I suggest you bring the Carnation drinks as a back-up. You might want to bring some, especially if he has a preferred brand; while I've seen applesauce onboard, availability can vary and it may not be to his liking (some reports have said it's chunky). Uncrustables are available from room service if he'll eat PBJ; or you could bring some of those little Jif-to-Go packs if he prefers plain PB. Pancakes should be available, and may even be an option for other meals if you let your serving team know. I suggest you speak with your Head Server on the first night to see what may be available to your son.

Enjoy your cruise!

I'm sure there will be some ways to accommodate. Also one of the best things about buffets and self serving is that there is an opportunity for choices and maybe he'll take advantage to try something else. I understand the rigidity special needs kids but you never know! One can be hopeful, right ;)

Good luck to you! As mom of a picky eater (cheese pizza, no sauce here too) I am hopeful that there will be things for him to eat. As a parent I know the stress and worry. Take care, and I hope your cruise is fabulous!!

@1stdisneycruise2016,

have you managed to speak to anyone shore side or find out anything?
The reason I asked how long away your cruise was is because would your childs taste or range change between, but since it is so soon that is unlikely I guess, and it's too late to cancel.
What will you do if texas toast isn't available for breakfast? I think they can handle the no sauce pizza thing for lunch and dinner especially in the dining rooms.
Also does the grilled American yellow cheese on texas toast have to be made a specific way, that your son would be unable to eat it if not made the same way as he eat at home?
I hope you've made contact with special services and lanejudy's suggestion of the carnation milk drinks may be a must?

All I can say is good luck! Not sure if he will be influenced to try anything new that he might see another kid eating, even just to accept chicken nuggets again! But like others mentioned- bring some stand by sealed and packaged food you know he will accept. Hoping you all have a good cruise!

The Disney Team is very accommodating. They really will try to help your son feel comfortable. On our last trip we had a child in our group who only ate buttered noodles for dinner. every night was a different shaped noodle. Fingers crossed for your family to throughly enjoy your cruise.:flower3:

Regarding the pizza, they will do this for sure. My daughter has a severe allergy to onion and garlic. They actually made up some new tomatoe sauce for her from scratch that had none. She also had dough with cheese a couple of nights. This was on the fantasy

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I have spoken with Disney and they are going to accommodate our needs, I am very impressed by the level of personal service that I have received from the cruise line, I can not wait for the trip.

Pizza wise - I have requested no-sauce pizzas on room service and in the restaurant and they have managed to accommodate. My sister is allergic to tomatoes so it was one of the things we did manage to get sorted. You can't get it from the fast food pizza place though I found. Also remember you can order anything from the menu so although you think he might not try anything else you could order his "normal" food and something else for him to try maybe? This is one of the great things about cruising as I am fussy and I find I will order the thing I know I will eat (mac & cheese mainly) and something else so that I can just try it. 9/10 I wont enjoy it or eat more than a few mouthfuls but usually others on my table will finish it off for me and it means I am trying something. The waiters are fantastic on the ship and really do go above and beyond. Just make sure you talk to them about your needs on the first day (you can go see the restaurant manager at set times on the first day) and then it should all be sorted for you! Enjoy

I have a very picky eater and to be honest, we brought the brand of bread she eats at home and a small jar of peanut butter & nutella. She did ok with breakfasts but her issue is with lunch & dinner. If we couldn't get her to eat off the menu, and she did make an effort thankfully, we had the sandwich to fall back on.
