Photography Board Summer Assignment, 2010: Scavenger Hunt

Roger, can I say I love both of the shots!! But I do like the first one because the bird is in mid-air on approach!! It must take a lot of patience to get those photos!!

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much Heather. I am enjoying your take on the assignment as well.

It was our local carnival today, so I really enjoyed looking for the little details, rather than just the standard shots! This is definitely getting us out and about - thanks again for the challenge!

Bagpipers in kilts (this replaces my earlier shot - never thought I'd be seeing bagpipers in two places in the same week!)

Reunion - my son was in the Scout and Guide Gang Show back in February - months of rehearsals and seven performances in the local theatre. They were asked to do a number at the carnival today and it was a fantastic reunion for him with friends he had not seen for several months. (He's the one in the grey jumper).

Cotton candy being made - we call this candy floss in the UK. Not the greatest shot - I might find another - but she was so nice when I asked if I could take her picture!

We just got back from a WONDERFUL vacation, and I have some photos to add to the scavenger hunt. See if you can guess where we went!;)

Evening, complete with Venus (or maybe it's Mars?) in the sky:

Famous Landmark

Moose - fantastic beer I discovered in South Dakota, Moose Drool Brown Ale. Unfortunately, it's not available here in Pennsylvania, and with our goofy liquor control board laws, we can't even get it via mail order (I had DH check for me) (Linda, please let me know if this doesn't qualify for "moose")

Monument - Crazy Horse - monument-in-the-making:

Model - close-up of the head of Crazy Horse, plus the 1/34 scale model of the entire monument, plus the not-yet-done actual monument:

A few more from our trip:

Railway:

Reflection - this is how I spent a lot of our vacation - taking photos out the window. (That plus yelling at DH to "Pull over, I want to take a picture!" "I can't pull over -there's a car behind me!!" - We had a lot of "loud discussions" :goodvibes (I won't call them arguments.)) That's Devil's Tower in the mirror in case you didn't already know.

Welcome Artic Bunny. What an interesting location - do you mind sharing where you are exactly? Nice pics - it would help if were a little bigger, but they look great.

Hey Everyone,

Don't forget to bring your cameras with you while you celebrate the 4th! :)

I made them a bit bigger.... :scratchin

I had some fun at work today! I took my camera with me and was able to get some shots! They are a bit rushed, unfortunately - for some reason my company wants their planes to go out on time..!! Who would have thought??? :confused3

arctic bunny - you look like you have a harder time getting "summer" photos in summer than we do here in winter!!!
Great photos - sounds like a very very remote location!
I would love to see more - when you can.
Thanks for sharing. :flower3:

Heather and everyone! Great photos!

Arctic Bunny - thanks for making your photos bigger. They are fantastic :thumbsup2

Heather - you've got two of my "torpedoes" - nuns in habit and pilots in a plane. I am so envious!

Amy - thanks for the memories. I have photos of the same area from 20 years ago....

Wow! There's been some really great photos. Been trying hard to get photos over the weekend. A bit disappointed that some didn't turn out as I had hoped and also disappointed that I only got a bad shot of the ONLY American flag that I saw today. Oh well. Here goes nonetheless
