Photography Board Summer Assignment, 2010: Scavenger Hunt

It must be optimum posting time for Australia!

I snapped these at a celebration last night (no prizes for guessing that it was a Greek related one),

PrincessinOz and shushhh - I'm loving your photos!! I really have to up my game!!!! :worship:
PrincessinOz - I totally fluked the nuns! I was waiting to take a picture of the queue and then I saw the nuns standing there! I couldn't believe it! If I could have jumped for joy I would have! (A bit hard to do when I am in my workplace in uniform..:lmao:. It was tough enough walking around with my camera!!) Keep on looking, though - you never know when you will find your "torpedoes"!

Keep up the good work - go the Aussie connection!!! :thumbsup2

I'm also looking forward to seeing all the July 4th photos!

Love everyone's photos! So much fun!!!

Some of these photos are with my new Panasonic ZS7. I am having foot surgery less than a week after my July Disney trip. I know I just can't handle my Nikon D90 on this trip. I'm pretty happy with it. Haven't had a chance to read the PDF manual yet so need to play with it some more. Wide angle photos are great. Zoomed photos aren't so great.

Adirondack chairs (replaces prior photo), this photo is an example of the not so great zoom on the new camera.

Historical-this is the top of Minots Light. The top of the lighthouse was replaced about 20 years. The lighthouse with a new top is still out on the rocks. I have to get a photo of that soon too! This stone lighthouse was the 2nd light on this spot. The first wooden light tipped over in a storm. The local historical society has the log from the light keepers that died in the storm-they put it in a bottle when they knew they were going down.
P1010061.jpg

Circle-this was one of the patterns the stone cutters used in the 1800's to build the stone light house.

Got some more today!

Thank you for the hellos and replies! Everyone has such interesting pictures. Yes, it's hard to get those summer pictures - as we are indeed in the land of the midnight sun right now, I am crossing my fingers that the sun will set (and rise, of course!) before the scavenger hunt is over!

We're obviously not in Saskatchewan right now, but are originally from there, hence the Rider Pride. We're pretty sure we've got the most northern pictures of merchandise, but who knows!

Now, for today's bunch, after a four hour quad ride with some fishing and exploring:

A - Airplane (I'm pretty sure it's with a pilot, but I don't think that's what you mean ;) )

B - Bespectacled *

B - Bridge (You can't believe how excited I was the first time we went on a quad ride out here - without a camera, of course. I had marked this one as impossible!)

D - Dusty

F - Fish

F - Freckles *

N - Napping passenger (We don't have a car here, and what are the chances he would fall asleep on the quad? I was so excited, I forgot to be upset that he wouldn't sleep tonight!)

I - American Indian in native dress (This is an Aboriginal person in a traditional amauti) Does this count?

I - Historical Invention * (These are two ulus - technically uluit - a woman's knife)

F - Fruit (The rest of the pineapple isn't particularly attractive by the time it gets here!)

I - Icon (Let me know if I've got this wrong - a Mountie is a Canadian icon)

S - Seashell

U - Underwater *

you never know when you will find your "torpedoes"!
Yep, and sometimes no matter how hard you try, the "torpedoes" just won't come out and play. I spent all of Saturday looking out for a dog in car whilst I had the luxury of DH driving, and of course didn't see any! And then on Sunday we were out on a boat anchored near a buoy. Did any bird land on that buoy?!??! No!!! one that did go on a buoy chose the buoy so far away that even my zoom lens couldn't make it look any bigger...

What lovely colours!

Buoy with bird* Hopefully you can just make out a little seagull on top of the buoy...
