Photo CDs

So I'm guessing from what I read here that if you buy a Photopass CD package in advance for the $99, it will NOT cover both your parks AND cruise portion?

No, they do not offer Photopass on the ship, at least not yet. The photography on the ship is contracted out to another company.

Correct. the ship is a totally different system and company

Does the CD include any professional pictures? The ones that they take of the family with the white backdrops? Or is it just of the ones with Characters and such?

It includes all photos taken by the Shutters photographers. I usually have a mix of character photos, photos against themed backdrops, lifestyle photos (white or black backdrop) and even some photos that were taken on excursions.

Our family has two cabins. One is in my name and includes my hubby, myself and our daughter. Our second cabin is connecting, though in my moms name, and has my mom and our two other kids. Do you know if we will be able to get a cd with pictures of everyone on it. Most pictures I would think would include all 6 of us but since this will be our first cruise I am unsure how often pictures are taken and at what places? If pictures are taken of our two kids in the cabin next to us will they be able to be included on our cd?
We are cruising on the Dream in May for 3 nights! We cant wait!!!!

In looking at a navigator from a recent (November) MR cruise I see the photo cd was $249. Can someone please confirm this or explain it maybe? The only thing I can think of is the MR cruises are a little cheaper than the caribbean ones so maybe they're not charging as much for the cd's on these trips? :confused3

Image resolution of 2400x1598 is less than a 4 megapixel image (3.8 to be exact)...best way to determine the quality of the image is to look at the average image size, which was (on average) about a 900KB (less than 1 MB) picture.

Meanwhile my ($125) Canon PowerShot SD1200IS point and shoot captures images at 3648x2736 with image sizes around 2.5-3.0MB.

So, it all depends on what you are looking for - I expected MUCH higher resolution than they provided on the CD - they are using digital SLR cameras (I wish I had written what they were using) but to have image resolution/file size for be 1/2 to 2/3rds of what my little point and shoot provides is quite a disappointment, especially based on the price they charge for the CD.

The photos we got were full resolution from the DSLR. Do an export and check the "original_images" folder and not the "print_ready_images" folder. The resolutions varied because the cameras varied. Some were 12MP, others were 6MP (as many older DSLRs are). A 6MP DSLR will take pictures that are much better than your SD1200IS. Resolution is actually not related to picture quality when it comes to digital cameras. There are many, many pros who use 6MP cameras and produce spectacular results.

FYI I have a Canon Digital Rebel (300D) as well as 8 other point and shoot cameras, purchased as recently as last month. The 300D, which is the original consumer DSLR and has a 6MP sensor, makes much, much better quality 8x10 photos than any of the others.

I can confirm this but not explain it. On our Dec 4th MR cruise, the price was $249. I thought it was a great deal, since we used the occasion to get professional portraits of our family.

I think its a great deal too. My CD from the MR earlier this month had almost 150 pics on it.

We love the CD! Since I usually spend at least $300 for formal pictures, the CD is a great deal. We made a point of getting our picture taken every night before dinner and with all the characters we could. It was a lot of fun!

I agree. I have friends and family members who get professional photos all the time, and I've never had any done, so it was well worth the money to get the photo CD on our cruise. And, the photos were beautiful.

We got one on our last cruise and thought we'd get it again. We were just thinking to make it 'worth' the cost we'd get our picture as often as we could. I'm sure we would have bought it even if it was $399 but I'm realllly glad it's not! :goodvibes

So if my teenagers that are in our room are out and about and they happen across a character and what their picture taken, will that be on our CD if they give them their KTTW card?

It should be. :thumbsup2

Keep checking your photos on the kiosk, if you are missing any find the print and give it to a CM and have them add it.

They use facial recognition. I cannot stress enough that you have everyone on the initial embarkation photo, with your KTTW card. Then you have a much better chance of facial recognition catching the future photos.
