PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Karen,

I just wanted to say, you and your daughter have some really beautiful hair!! No wonder that Cindy bun was so full!! Ok, back to reading :surfweb:

Aw thanks! My daughter is the one with the amazing hair, I had in a SOCK bun, so most of that was sock, not hair! :lmao:

Same as Karen- coming in Thursday morning.

Expo on Thursday.
Friday open at park.
Saturday 10K
Sunday 1/2- cupcake crawl- jellyrolls
Monday- home.

Tammie- not sure if you ever shop at ScrapOrchard but they are having a 35% off sale. They rarely have sales so thought I'd mention it. :)

Love scrap orchard and of course I bought something I needed last week...if only I had waited. I do need a few kits...thanks for the reminder! I picked up their FB hog freebies yesterday...not a lot that I really liked. Funny how I am getting selective now on my freebies...I love Liz and LGFD templates!

I am VERY selective on most of my freebies as well....

I bought- the Arizona kit (shocker) from WM (like her travel kits) and the Lake House kit and Watering Hole by Tanya...and a Reptile one for Sarah's birthday- you know- the one where snakes are coming to my house! :)

Hey cupcakes! I just spent the past few days reading this thread and have to say you all seem like such motivated and supportive ladies!

I am strongly considering the GSC but am NOT a runner. And I don't know how much training I will want to do. I currently work out 5-6 days a week (Jazzercise and now doing some strength training) and I can't see myself willing to give up much in my normal routine to train very seriously at least not until a few months out. Thinking I can run 1-2 days a week until late fall and then for the few months before would add a day or two. Does that seem like enough? It seems like you are all training already and when I mentioned to my runner friend my loose training schedule she seemed to think I was crazy. Not trying to win but don't want to be swept.

Also as far as submitting a time its a 10k (at minimum) that you need, correct? What time for that would be considered good enough to get a decent placement? Because I guess I would need to do a bit of training for that....

You ladies are way too fast and active for me. But I saw mention of running playlists and thought I'd offer a couple from mine:

Message in a Bottle - Police - this one really helps me keep on cadence. Sometimes I put it on repeat
Runaway Baby - Bruno Mars
Locked out of Heaven - Bruno Mars
Pretty Vegas - INXS
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap
I have some Deadmau5 and Tiesto - especially good for apps with cadence adjusters
Love Today - Mika
Shake It - Michael Franti
Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John

For cool-down:
Babylon - David Gray
Metal and Steel - (Austin's own) Bob Schneider
Flake - Jack Johnson
Midnight City - M83

Try some of these out and let me know your thoughts! I have a bunch more.

LOVE me some Bob Schneider!!

Hi Stacy!! Yes, I think your plan is doable! There's a number of reasons why most of us are training already. For me, I just love to run but some of us are training for races in the fall, some people need to build up their base and some are working for that 10K time to submit. That might be your only issue if you don't start training until fall. You might not get up to that distance and find a race in time to submit by December 1st (cutoff).

Last year I trained the whole year, but I was injured for 2 months during the summer and when I got back to it I could only run 2 times a week for a bit. I would say that October is when you should probably start putting in the time but it sounds like you have a good aerobic base so that should help you. It's really up to the individual! :)

As for 10K time...there's not really a certain time I can tell you, each person is different depending on how fast they run. I will say that submitting a time was high on my list of things to accomplish last year. I was glad to be in a corral with people going the same speed as me and not have to do a lot of weaving around people, which was my biggest concern (mostly b/c my knee was injured and weaving hurts!) If you do not submit any time, you'll be in one of the last 2 corrals.

I have no doubt you can do it though! :cheer2:

Nicole...Kellybell is having a 39% off sale this weekend, too! I also need to get on Mousescrappers for the anniversary stuff...think there is a speed scrap tomorrow night!

Most of us are NOT RUNNERS either. You can do this. Most weeks it is just 2 runs 2 miles each (30 minutes) and then a long run building up distance. Most of us do the Galloway method of walk/run intervals which makes this totally do able. My goal for my first Disney race was not to be swept...and I did it with time to spare!

Galloway has a great 5K beginners app...which I used to get me started with mapping out a plan of attack, then I did the 10K and will move to the half marathon app in the fall to get me ready in plenty of time.

I am training now, because like Karen I tend to have injury and leg issues...I was sidelined for over 2 months right before ToT 10-miler...Also, I have learned that I actually like to get out there...which is very shocking because I don't like to sweat...it is such a feeling of accomplishment and using Disney Trip without DH questioning me is the best motivation ever!

Agree with what Tammie & Karen said. I don't think you would need to start heavily training till Fall for the PHM. I think you could get by with a '3' day plan which would be running two shorter distances and then one day long run per week. Which might fit good into your schedule? The long run will increase each week or every other week (Depending on how you structure your plan) so I would expect leading up to the event you might need to devote a little bit more time.

I only trained till 10 miles for my Wine & Dine event. I did complete it, but I will say that miles 10-13 were brutal for me.

I'm not sure what time to aim for for submitting- but I think ANYTHING submitted will move you up at least one corral. And it is worth it- I almost didn't do this & am SO glad I did.. it gave me buffer time to stop for characters and potty breaks!

Many of us are running now because of fall runs planned. I think you got this if you want it! :) Welcome!!! :)

Cupcake Friday
(as if Friday in not sweet enough)
Strawberry Cream Cheese
More Cupcakes from BOG

Well it looks like we have about finished all the cupcake offerings in Magic Kingdom, other than the seasonal ones (which are standard cupcakes with a seasonal decoration…boring). The cupcakes at Big Top really did not appeal to anyone, and Nicole suggested that we go back to BOG and try out the rest…

Strawberry Cream Cheese

Of all the cupcakes at BOG, gets the vote for the cutest with a cute little pink polka dotted wrapper. I have to agree it looks like those cupcakes in the fancy stores. This vanilla sponge cupcake is filled with a strawberry cream cheese filling is more of a yogurt or custard consistency and not over-powering at all! The cupcake is topped with a whipped cream cheese frosting and a large fresh strawberry. Fresh, Fruity and delicious!

Now I am a huge chocolate fan, but this cupcake sounds really yummy and one that I might consider…I wonder how many cupcakes one could order at BOG without raising eyebrows! Also, I wonder if they have the little plastic take away cupcake holders like some of the other places?! We certainly are going to need an ADR for BOG!

What are your thoughts? Do we add this one to the crawl, we are going to be at BOG anyway...:rotfl2:

For the record, I ordered THREE at BOG when I was there in November... so....

And this was one of them. I enjoyed this cupcake (although the lemon meriengue (sp?) outranked it as my favorite).

I would add this one personally. It was pretty good.

This was my favorite cupcake from our last trip in January. So good! And I'm usually more of a chocolate person too, but I could have eaten about 3 of them! That would be about the size of the other Disney cupcakes, right? ;)

Yes, this was a yummy cupcake...AGAIN, I have to reiterate though that my notes mentioned that these freaking cupcakes at BOG are too SMALL. Maybe I just have a gigantic mouth. I might not share, even. ;) I think I can just pop the whole thing in my mouth in one bite. :lmao:

Oh yeah! The cupcakegoddess agrees with me on the size, so it has to be too small!!! I'm not crazy!...or a pig! :woohoo:

That just means you can have even more flavors!

What day do most of you ladies travel? We normally travel Saturday to Saturday because of hubby work schedule. We are going to have to come on Friday now with the glass Slipper Challenge. Just wondering when do some of you ladies come into town?

For PHM this year, we came in on Wednesday evening & left Monday (late morning ME pick up). I will come in next year most likely on Wednesday night & fly out Monday early. Will need to be at expo on Thursday as I am going to do the 5K on Friday also.
