My Wonder Wednesday response:

The Germany pavilion. After visiting Bavaria in 2012, this area just takes me back. It is very authentic and peaceful to me.

i still love that song! Interesting beat for running too.
Love the Germany pavilion. Reminded me that my ADR date is Saturday!!! Maybe We need a where are your ADRs question. :)

I am the weird runner. No music :p!!! I hear enough in the gym. My kids talk all
day. I looked forward to "quiet" time. Anyway, first real run since my injury only did 30 min got my 2.3 miles or so. I won't have another run til
Saturday.

Oooh- forgot how much I like the song Lose Yourself. I will have to add that to my running play list. Thanks for the reminder! :thumbsup2

No problem! ;)

I'm actually really happy with my choice to just do the Princess Half this year for my first half. I knew that I would probably want to do the GSC next year and that was ok with me, but for my first half, I just wanted it to be about THAT, if that makes sense.

I also have noticed that many runners go all out right off the bat and do so many challenges and races one after another that they burn out or get in a funk, feeling like they've already done it all or...Now what?!?! I want to continue to run and challenge myself but not all overnight, if that makes sense? Focusing on my first half was amazing and now I feel I have something new to look forward to in focusing on a back-to-back run/half with the GSC. :thumbsup2

My first half was supposed to be PHM, so I chose not to sign up for GSC, but then I added 2 more halfs before then (one was cancelled due to an ice storm). It was then that I felt sad I didn't go ahead and sign up for GSC, oh well, signing up for it for next year.

One of those :crazy2: kind of run days...but I got out there and did it...well sort of! Seems like every time I come off of a really good run, reality smacks me in the face that I am not a runner in any stretch of the word.

I have those days too...many of those days. :sad2:

I have a few of those on my playlist too. Let it Go & Party Rock Anthem :thumbsup2

This thread moves quickly! I feel like I was off the grid last week. My phone doesn't work in Ohio so I had very little internet service while we were there.

I finally got to run (on the treadmill :faint:) in my new shoes. How long will it take me to get used to them?

Hard to say. Just do short runs/walks in them & break them in slow.

One song that helps motivate me is Overcomer by Mandisa. It has a nice beat and the message is good too!

I am signed up for a 10K next Saturday. I will be celebrating my finish with a piece of cake at my cousin's wedding. :thumbsup2

Good luck in your 10K! Let us know how it goes :goodvibes

This is a terrible question for me! It's ALL eye (or rather camera) candy for me! Capturing all the amazing sights at WDW has to be one of my biggest reasons for continuing to go back. I love all the little details, the variety, and the colors. I'm afraid you asked for it Tammie, but I cannot let the answer go without sharing a few random shots! ;)

I actually do music when I train but most of the time I run without during races.

I listen to a lot of different stuff. Right now my favorite song is RuPaul's The Beginning. It gets me up again when I am slowing down.

NO MUSIC  I go nuts if I don't have music. I like my quiet time too, but I get so bored in my runs if I don't have it.

Wednesday Wonderings...

Cinderella's Castle. My favorite way to see it is with the dream lights, but the castle is just as gorgeous without them.

Illuminations & Wishes. I cry every time I see Wishes.

Spaceship Earth. Such a neat structure & oh so photogenic.

Boardwalk & Crescent Lake. My favorite hotel hands down. We had this amazing view for 10 nights & it was so beautiful each morning & evening.

My Real Life Side: Hi I am Buffy, a co-moderator here on the DIS, creative community if anyone wants to scroll down and say hey. I am a 40 year old NaHM (never at home mom) of 4 kids, DS17, DS13, DS12, and DD8. I have been married to DH for 21 years (in 22 days). We live in Blink and Ya Miss It, CT. My jobs include taxi driver, referee, CEO, CFO, judge, jury and executioner, and team photographer for all of the kids events. My hobbies are scrapbooking, cross stitch, and Thursday coffee with the girls.

My Disney Side: My first trip ever to Disney was Disneyland in 1980 for the 25th anniversary of the park, my dad was in the parade so we got to go. Our first trip to Disney World was in 2004 for the 50th anniversary of the park and for DS17's 8th birthday. We have been 17 times including 5 scrapbooking convention trips (wish they still had those!).
Favorites:
treat - dole whip and mickeyhead rice krispy treats
meal - Pork shanks and LeFou's brew from Gastons with baked sweet potatoes from Liberty Square Market
Characters - All but mostly Bernard, Bianca, Merida and Tink
Show - Illuminations
Park - All of them for different reasons
Ride - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Moments -
DD's "Oh no, hims dead" shout out when Beast was killed during the Beauty and the Beast Show.
DS13 at age 4 grabbing my face and saying "mama, this is the bestest bacation ever" during Illuminations
DS17 at age 8 meeting Mary Poppins for the first time, his true love!
DS12 at age 2, his first real words were "My nonald nuh! and running to Donald Duck.

My Running Side: My kids all run for school so I reluctantly started running too. If you can't beat em, join em.
DS17 said I needed a goal so we aimed for the Everest Challenge in 2011, so I started half heartedly training for it in October of 2010. I did crappy but DS was very supportive the whole time. I did not enjoy the experience at all, I was so worried about the sweepers and looking like a complete fool out there 70 pounds over weight, worrying about people judging me, etc.
After that race I started to work a lot harder on the weight loss (down 30 pounds and counting) and the running in 2012. In March of 2013 I ran a race for my little kids school. I came in dead last with the police tailing me, that was crazy! They were playing the Rocky theme over the loud speakers. In May 2013 the whole family ran a memorial race to raise money for AED machines for one of DS's teammates, he passed away during the cross country season a few years ago. This one was tough because it's about 75% uphill.
I had been eyeing the PHM for a while, but as I was approaching 40 I really wanted to do something for myself. And I need a tangible goal to lose weight and to exercise. So, I aimed for PHM 2014. Then when I saw the Glass Slipper Challenge, I thought, hey go big or go home right?!? I hemmed and hawed about signing up, but DS17 texted me and said you'll never regret trying and failing but you will, some day, regret never signing up. And he was right. So I bit the bullet and signed up for all 3 races. I trained using the Galloway method 1 minute run, 1 minute walk and it worked out well.
As it turns out, the kids had vacation the week of the PHM so the whole family came down and did the 5K with me, I was on my own for the 10K, and I started with a DIS friend for the 1/2. I didn't worry so much about the time and just had fun. I won't lie, miles 8 - 10 during the 1/2 were the hardest miles I have ever run but I just kept reminding myself that the family was at mile 12 and the bling was at the end.
Since we've gotten back I did the schools 3 miler again, this time as a coach with a friend who was running her first race. I was slower than last year but I didn't mind because I wanted to finish with my friend. We had a blast, and she is thinking PHM in 2 years.
Next up is the memorial run again in May, so for now I'm working on hills, ugh!! Then the summer fun runs begin in July, and a turkey trot in November.
I plan to do GSC again in 2015 and if they do a triple crown with all 3 races, I will sign up for that.

OK, off to keep reading.
Sorry about the huge pic! I tried to resize it, but photobucket is just not cooperating.

Hi! Great job on GSC this year! Way to go!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I use Galloway as well- it's the only way I can run. I'm in awe of people who can just run straight for miles & miles. My body says 'oh, h#ll no!'. :) Shoot my body usually says that even doing run/walk! Hahahaha!!! My first (and only) half was the Wine & Dine. I plan on GSC in 2015! I will have those medals!!

I think I remember your DISNAME from years & years ago when I was on the scrapbook boards. I moved to digital before it did- so I hadn't been over there in awhile!

beautiful pics - def need to incorporate more little details in my photos. How many thousand fireworks pictures do I really need?? But all the other little things make it worth going back.

LOL, yes I know it is weird. I am telling you my house is LOUD!! My kids, kids friends, toddlers, babies, teens you name it we got it. I am so serious when I say that I need 1 hr of just shhhhh! quiet I am for real!!

BUffy, you are like my sister from another mister!!! I am 40, I have been married for 20 yrs and yes I am the proverbial stay at never home mom. Was tired of driving my kids to events watching them while my health was declining. I drew a line in the sand paid my money in 2011 for the 2012 Princess and have not looked back.

Amy, I'm pretty sure I have thousands of fireworks photos! WDW is actually the catalyst for what threw me into photography. When I went in 2008, I was so disappointed with my shots of the fireworks, I purchased my first DSLR...and the rest is history! :thumbsup2

Did my first training run tonight... 2 miles took me just over 20 minutes. I felt pretty good and got some crazy ideas while running...then I remembered that is why I loved running... time to think!!!

I have now committed to running a half marathon with my Dad in mid-October to get my qualifying time... oy vey what have I started?

And secretly, I am going to try for the GSC... hubby doesn't know about that...

i still love that song! Interesting beat for running too.
Love the Germany pavilion. Reminded me that my ADR date is Saturday!!! Maybe We need a where are your ADRs question. :)
Oh goodness, that reminds me our ADR date is Sunday. It was also Saturday (I guess we are/were arriving the same day?) But last week we added two nights at Universal/IOA for Diagon Alley and HHN, so we are now arriving 10/1 but staying at Portofino for 2 nights, arriving at WDW/POFQ on 10/3.

I could change my ticker, but then I lose my progress. Boo hooo! What do you think? Change it or not?

We are only doing (GASP!) one ADR for our whole trip!!! We are doing Narcoossees because we've never been there. The rest of the trip, we'll either do counter service, F&W tastings, or just take our chances on a table service place, depending where we end up when we're hungry.

Since there are only two of us, we don't have to worry about keeping a whole party together for ressies.

We should have a beer at Germany during the trip! Prost!

Us too! I have it in my calendar so I don't forget. We are hoping for O'hana Friday night and liberty tree Saturday. I will probably skip liberty tree but the rest of my family wants to go.

keep the ticker...bringing the kids on this trip so I am on that computer at 5:50 on Saturday a.m. To be sure I am getting that BoG and primo Epcot fireworks viewing. Not sure I'll get to enjoy much Food and Wine stuff this time.
Narcosees - love it! That should be a PHM destination for this board. Post race dinner.
I will have a beer in Germany but
I am watching my pre-race consumption - lets just say I enjoyed myself more than I should have before PHM this year. My body was not happy at mile 10 and sure it was a combination of California Grill and too Much park time.
