...simply because of the DVC FLOOR PLANS they provide!!! Thrilled to pieces over this! Am I the last to know?

Floor Plans are also in the "Vacation Planner" pre 2004-2005 edition. The older versions are extremely useful for a lot of the info they contain.

What unofficial guide are you referring to? I did not know that DVC had one.

I think this is referring to the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (not DVC, but include DVC info)

I just ordered our 2005 from Amazon--can't wait to see it!

Oh, hold on to your hat gchiker. The book I'm talking about is The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2005. I just picked it up at Barnes and Noble. It is jam packed full of great info for WDW.

A friend loaned me an older version when I first went to WDW 3 years ago---it's where I learned to be one of those theme park commando moms---up early and off to the parks, fanny packs strapped onto the kids, ride list in hand. I don't remember floor plans in that edition though, so this new book was such a wonderful surprise for me.

We always buy the Birnbaums books all 3 of them every year along with Dave Hunters Along the I-75 now that book is invaluable for anyone that drives that highway even if it isn't to go to WDW.

I used to buy Birnbaum's every time we wne for a trip to WDW, even though I had been there somany times it really wasn't tellingme anything new. I bought the Unofficial Guide (2005) last week for the first time, and it makes Birnbaum's looklike a commercial. I had no intention of reading the Unofficial Guide in its entirety, but after starting with the introduction I can't put it down! I am learning about so many things I never knew before. And DH hasn't heard the end of it yet!

For those of you who may not know, or are new to our boards...we have our very own UnOfficial Guide person here on the boards...Len Testa. He is a font of wonderful info. He's usually over on the Theme Park or Resort boards. He knows some pretty incredible stuff.

I think you are referring to the Bob Sehlinger book. It is GREAT!!! I always recomend it to friends heading to the World. It is very informative and funny and useful and very well written. I how he uses quotes from letters he has received from Disney travelers. A great book.

We are also big Unofficial Guide fans. Very irreverent and reall fun to peruse. Mainly we get it to lend to friends these days tho.

Thx for alerting me that the 2005 version is out! I'll be ordering it this week.

Okay, I have to admit...I didn't even KNOW there was a members only part of this board. But I'll give it the complete Mickey try and see what happens. THANK YOU for the info!:D

PS added: Oh, now I see...it is a DVC owner's board. We haven't quite gotten there yet--still in the ROFR stage. Can't wait until we have a number though! Thanks again....

I LOVE the UG!!!! It is laugh out loud funny! The 2004 book had the floor plans of all the resorts too, I don't buy it every year but I have that version from the local library right now. I do feel he (Selinger) is a little tough on the food, but then again we like most everything. A great read though!!! Lacee

DarrinST: I agree Dave Hunter's along I-75,never leave home without it. Susan

I stopped buying Birmbaums. It started looking as if Disney had bought the rights to it several years ago and other than some neat color pictures you never got anything new or any true comparisons. They gave the WDW side and stopped completely being objective. After going so many times if I needed to find out something, I just checked places like this. Just a few clicks and you can find anything and it does not cost $16.99...smjj

For those who "know" him from the boards, your friend Len is written about with great acclaim on pg. 67.

It was also cool to see the DIS boards listed as a recommended website in the book.

You're right smjj---there is TONS of info to be gleaned from these boards---but I still like the book. I can get my Disney fix by reading it when waiting for a kiddo in the carpool line. Plus, my dh won't let me bring the laptop into the bathtub.:teeth:

only buy ug birnbaum seems in disney pocket.

The DVC website sounds good but I'm one of those poor souls that followed the directions to the T but cannot get my logon to work. I'm not a techie but I'm a pretty reasonable user and can click my way around. My DW got hers to work but after looking at the new and improved site, I'm not particulalrly concerned about not be able to get in. Hmm, maybe I need to revisit the issue.
