Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

I am doing the same thing right now lol Does your hair grow quickly? and how much longer do you want it to be by November? That is a good amount of time to grow it out, you should be able to add quite a bit of length by then!

shoulder length...but I'm hoping to get past my shoulders...this is all a combination of bad hair cuts and my mother being my hair dresser and doing what she has wanted with it on her own... So, now I am seeing a great hair dresser that gets it...I'm not sure how fast my hair grows...but not fast enough for me!

Oh the drama! :rotfl:

just catching up...whew! :goodvibes

The cake is so cute. Disney will change it but if you have to add a lot they might charge :headache: We added ribbon and floral to our cake and it was only $45...so hopefully they won't add too much extra to the cost for your changes.

I agree about not wearing white to a wedding! I read one story where the future MIL wore an ivory dress and she totally stood out in all the pictures!! :scared1:

:rotfl: Well that is good that your hairdresser gets it! Good luck growing it out pixiedust:

Thank you! :goodvibes

Good to know about the cake. thanks for the heads up!
Didn't even think about her standing out like a sore thumb. Will have to grow a set and tell her no! :rolleyes1

:lmao: Where's the tag fairy when you want her!

I get asked quite often what I'm going to spend my time doing after the wedding. The sad thing is I've thought about it, and I think I'm going to try and get a degree in graphic design :rotfl:

Yeah right!
A degree in graphic design??? I would have thought wedding planning! I told DH I'll just start working on our trip to Alaska next. As long as we are traveling I'm good.

lol, I've had to work really hard to stop myself from wanting to be a wedding planner, it's how I've picked out my profession for a long time now - I was planning a holiday, so I wanted to be a travel agent, I wanted to buy a house, so I went into real estate, I'm planning a wedding, so clearly I should be wanting to do wedding planning. :lmao:

I do have a slight feeling that I'm doing the same thing again though, what with creating my newsletters, and reading up so much on photographers they both sort of combine to graphic design

So, I've decided to update my to-do list...so here it is...

Decide on favors I'M THINKING I JUST MIGHT DO THE PICTURE FRAMES AS PLACE CARDS...THIS HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT CHOICE...BUT I'M WORKING ON IT.
Decide on ipod set up

A lot of this just comes down to money...which sucks...but oh well. I've nixed the rolls...even though it is something I've always wanted...it just isn't worth it and I can use the money elsewhere. I don't know how I feel about this..but one of the things I'm going to tell Misty is NO PICS OUTSIDE THE LIMO. There is one pic that I want that is through the window looking inside at the bride that I can deal with...but otherwise...nope...no limo pics. Someday I'll get to ride in one...someday.

I'm a little worried about the ipod set up...I don't remember the cost...but don't feel like I can have the music that I want for our first dance and the father daughter dance that I want. We love vitamin string quartet...and would probably like that as background music...oh the decisions! Again...it comes down to money.

Mom wants just single rose corsages. Fine no worries. That was easy.

I know I really want Mickey and Minnie there. Just need to swallow that price...oh the little things...and DH wonders why I am saving like a crazy person! :lmao:

Slowly things are falling into place...little by little...

The To Do list always seems so daunting, but you have a lot done and a ton of stuff in progress so that is good! The waiting part is the worst, like waiting on quotes and such - you just want to know already so you know what you need to do! lol

Just a side note on a few previous posts, I feel the same way about career choices - I have been thinking about planning as a career, but I have also thought about thinks like financial planning, real estate, travel agent, etc. as I come to those times in my life. Then, when I have a baby, I will want to be a mompreneur! :rotfl:

Advice. do the tuxes earlier than later. We waited and the guy was a jerk because we waited too long. I called 2 months before. but they didn't get there sizes in til 2 1/2 weeks before! so sooner the better

I like the idea of Faux fur. if I had a "winter" wedding thats what id do, I think its cute.

my photographer told me to make a cd of photos I liked and this way he had an idea. its very good for them to know so don't feel weird!

I have told my photographer no pictures outside the limo. I hate them too.

I have been saving for a very long time as well. Drives my DF nuts. Tho the last few weeks I don't care if he wants take out and such because I don't feel like cooking!
Don't stress about your list too much!!

I vote for the faux fur wrap also - or like lurkyloo did - a satin type jacket with fur trim.

As far as Misty goes for pictures - I made screen prints of alot of photos that we liked (some were hers and some were not) and gave them to her before the wedding. She had them with her the day of the wedding and made sure to get those shots. She was not bothered by this at all and said she appreciated it - because it was our wedding and she wanted to make sure we got what we wanted.

Now for the limo - I know alot of brides do not like them - but Misty was our photographer and she got this shot which I love.

So don't rule those photos out completely. I would let her take some photos with the limo - you don't HAVE to use them if you don't like them and you never know - maybe you will.

She also got this one.

There is also a great one of me getting out of the limo in Epcot but it is not in my Photobucket account.

A lot is getting done...and then I think of something else! :lmao: Little by little...and some of the little gifts aren't really necessity as much as they are just something nice I want to do...

Advice taken. Maybe at the end of July...Sounds like Faux fur is getting the votes...might just have to go that route...but do you think off white fur will look just dirty?
I don't hate limos...but had my heart set on the Rolls...:sad2:

Another vote fur...got it...
When I talked to Misty she said that I can have a wish list a mile long...but then she would worry about the wish list and miss other shots...So, I'm trying to compromise.

As for the limo...it's not that I hate them...it's just that I really wanted the Rolls...and to see pics of the limo would remind me of what I didn't get...:guilty: So, I made this cut. It was either that or Mickey and Minnie...and I don't want to cut them either...trying to find a happy medium

So do you get an actual price list of things, or is it just what you've worked out off the Dis?

That's my problem, I've done up an excel work sheet and everytime I see someone's prices I put it in, but it just doesn't feel accurate... :confused3

I know what you mean with Misty, my plan is to tell her what posed photos we want, and a couple that we don't want and then let her do her photo jouranlistic thing.

Prices: I have done a little of both. I have the escape price list., my planner has told me what I need to meet. So, it is all slowly coming together...but things like petal cannons, ipod set ups, golf for DH and FOB, gifts for the mothers, staying at GF for 2 nights, etc...is adding up as well.

I would definately choose Mickey and Minnie over the car. That is something you and your guests will remember forever - not what kind of car you drove up in.

Linda

I dont think it will look dirty. I'm sure you can find really nice ones. You have time so I would just search for exactly what you want. Most of the faux fur i've seen is the solid color. if you got one of the speckled ones that suppose to look a lot like real fur then maybe but not one of the solid ones.

I'm going to be different and vote for satin....I've never been a fur girl though. Your list is great, it looks like you are getting everything sorted out well in advance!

That pic Linda posted is one of my favourites....with the black and white and just the pop of colour on the ADH sign. You should ask for something like that!

I also have kind of a crazy tip. It looks like your trying to grow your hair out...I did the same thing. My stylist told me to brush my hair a lot, I can't remember the reason behind it, but it worked! At night while watching TV, I would get DH to brush it for like half an hour, and my hair grew so fast! Everyone was amazed!

Thank you! I needed to hear that...just keep reminding me when it comes up.

Good point...now the question is what do I want? :lmao:

Satin...then I might have to match the color of my gown...not an easy feat....nt difficult...but I don't wan to buy one and not have it match...blah blah blah

Not a fan of the limo. I have a pic from a magazine that that is of the bride through the window that I like...that is as good as it gets.

I might have to try this brushing my hair thing every nite. Only problem is that I have naturally curly hair...and I don't know how easy that will be...what kind of brush did you use?
