"Personally, I think I would make a great stripper!" 8/10 The End

I'm going with 4900 miles. :)

And, it's about time someone appreciated Carsyn (or maybe I should say that Carsyn let someone appreciate her :lmao:)

First hooray Carsyn! I never went to my prom and I don't really regret it but I do sometimes think I might have missed out on something.

Second my guess is 3,500 miles.

I have finally caught up!!! I had once posted -- long ago -- on one of your previous reports. I think it was a pre-trip, actually. I recently re-found your reports and have read from the beginning. Wow, what a ride! Your family just sounds like so much fun, and you are really a very good writer.

On I-95, at exit 70, there is a place called Cafe Risque. Obviously, they don't hide what they are. For about 30 miles, the road is peppered with billboards that say "TOPLESS TOPLESS TOPLESS," followed by "STEAK."

Gotta say -- we took our first trip to Disney in October 2008, driving down from NY state. (gotta say that. Whenever you say you are from NY, people automatically assume City. We are 6 hours west of NYC, and nothing like it. Totally rural here - we can't even get DSL!!!) On I-95, we kept seeing the signs you mention. You know, THESE signs...

My DD, who was 9 at the time, just could not figure out why on Earth you would want to look at b**bs while you were eating. :rotfl2:

For mileage, I'm gonna guess 4279.

Haha, oh yes, those signs. Tell your DD I still wonder that.

That's great about Carsyn going to the prom. I'm trying to get my 16 yr. old son to ask someone to the Junior prom.

My guess is: 4,057

I only have read your introduction and I am hooked!!! LOVE IT!:goodvibes

I too traveled to Lynn's Paradise Cafe after seeing it on Throw Down! I am a little luckier the you because I live right outside fo Indy so it is not a far drive at all for us. I never did try the French Toast because I love savory meals instead of sweets, so I will recommend the cheesy grits!I know grits aren't for eneryone but I think if your in the south you should give them a try. Oh and I loved your Chapter on the Indiana gas station pit stop. Not being from Indiana orginally I can laugh along with you because I have come across those one-tooth-gas-station-hotties and I garantee you and your daughter made his day.

Now I could hardly stand to get my ears pierced so I'm not standing in line to get a tattoo. It was not so bad. At least you have your ears pierced. My grandma said she would only get them done when my grandfather could put a karat in each ear. My mom (opposite side of the family) still does not have them done. I cannot imagine not having them done for the sake of accessories alone! Two years ago he got a tribal band "lick-and-stick" at DTD. He was 5 then and the hostess at Planet Hollywood asked me if it was a real tattoo  Bless her heart;)
I almost snorted orange juice through my nose t that one!!!
My DD on the other hand is quite different. She just had her "coming out" in Cotillion. Big white gown, long gloves, the works. She is my southern belle.
Ohhh! I want pics!
I hope you go for it! You have so many followers because you are a great writer. Sign me up for the first copy!!
I am keeping you guys in my list of those I need to hunt down when this happens!!!
I am a strong believer in faith, but faith or no faith, you have what it takes to be a writer, believe in yourself as much as everybody else does and it will happen for you. That is the key my wise friend isn't it.I will be the first in line to buy your books.

I will hold yo to it!
Anyhoo, i vote for a funny cookbook? 0r How to Eat Homemade on the Road! Love all your food/stories. Carry on.....
That is exactly what I am thinking...a road trip recipe guide...2 passions in one!

Boy am I :laughing:right now looking at my awful typing here. I must've been so tired!! It reads like some hick with a super thick southern accent ' they're be lumpy things in there!' I read where you quoted it and I was like 'ugh, embarrassed!'
I really did not think anything of it until you pointed it out!
Can't beat an 8 hour drive!
Snot.
It's about 7 hours for us to drive, LOVE IT!!
Bigger Snot.
I REALLY wanted to say "you're right, it's not fair that someone has to be stuck in a group with your kid!"
Amen. But I told Carsyn that all she can do is know she did her best, make sure the teacher knows and let the rest come back to her in blessings that may take different forms.

Like Ben right now!

being the the Disney lover I am I got my fav character, Dopey, on my ankle.
Kay - I want to see it. I also wish I had a favorite character!
You're writing style is wonderful, I can definitely see you being successful doing it professionally, I know I would get in line to buy anything you wrote.

Terri
Terri, how much money ya got cause i can write a lot. Or are you saying writing that is published! :lmao:
Just be sure you put aside time every day on a strict schedule to write. I am and the feedback here is great! I will let you know about your friends!

Dawn I'm finally here, I've tried to stop reading TR's but you should feel special as I decided to read your new one
Jo..Why? Is it the time sucking vortex it enmeshes you in or that it takes you away from a little white ball you love and I am scared of???
It still amazes me how far you drive but at least you made it fun, I'm sorry you missed out on some Garratt's the Moms panel were given a code a while back for free shipping (I think) so if we get another one I'll let you know :thumbsup2
I would looove that!!!!!
It has been said that we only read the first and last letter of a word and our brains just figure out the rest of it.
Key to speed reading right there!!!
I've wanted tattoos for a while now. I've been contemplating getting a tattoo on my back, with the Chinese characters for "mom" and "dad" with angel wings around it. It's supposed to symbolize that my parents are my angels and they've always got my back :littleangel:
My sister has the Chinese symbol for Faith on the back of her neck but it looks like nothing I can find. Some guy off the streets in Hawaii who was doing henna tattoos, gave her a deal on the real thing.

This is my sister who is supposedly smart not the nut job one.

Since we cannot find it's equal, I say it says eggroll.

That makes her mad.

It matches the humpback whale looking thing on her ankle that was supposed to be a dolphin though! She has the most hideous tattoos.

I should get a picture and show it here so you can tell me if it is legit or maybe means mushu pork. I am hoping for the latter.

Now, you have me wanting a new one with Chinese characters. Hmmmm...

I've also been wanting a tattoo of a mickey shadow. More like...a typical Hidden Mickey, with three circles in that sequence, with a tiara above it. Not sure where I want it yet. It's to remind me never to forget what being a kid is like and that I'm always a princess, no matter how old
That would be cool!!!!
Trying to finish up tonight...

I have a rule about vacations that we do not eat at any restaurant we can eat at home (my only exception is driving days when the boys really need a McD's with a play place to kill some energy!)
Same here. Some friends went to Cancun and never ate at an authentic place, street cart or restaurant. Why go to Mexicao if you want BK?

I will have to stop at maid-rite again and take a pic for you!

I want a sun with my boys names on the arms (they both loved the song "you are my sunshine" when they were babies)
Does the sun have arms or will the sun be on your arm? :confused3

Since it started, I've paid more attention to the food offered in the high school where I teach, and man... it's a miracle that any of our kids are at a healthy weight with the crap we feed them.

Have not seen it but read about it and I agree. Our school's calorie chart for food is online and there is crap, crap or crap to choose from!

Found this site and totally thought of you. Course you may have already found it but here goes

http://find.mapmuse.com/interest/category/Restaurants

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!

but for some reason I have never been faithful to my baking soda :rolleyes1 I guess it's time ..........:rotfl:
Yes Ma'am!!!

I love how you stop at unique restaurants on your way down to Florida.
Wait till you see the next place!!!
I think I found a new favorite TR writer  Unfortunatly, im only at the begiining and have to go for now
I have seen you all over!!! So flattered you stopped by!!! Say hi again please!!
Thanks for the recipes, Dawn! I just made your Peanut Butter Bars tonight. Sampled the first one a few minutes ago. Yum, yum--good bedtime snack!
Glad you liked them!!!

Hi Dawn,
Ok my guess is 4875 miles total! :goodvibes
Loving the trip so far! :thumbsup2
Got it!
First off, YAY for Carsyn! I'm glad she is so happy.
We all are!!! He wants to be a doctor - very brilliant, multilingual kid - good choice on the second boyfriend! Learned from the mistakes form the first for sure! Proud of her for that. How many of us never learned or took forever to learn!!!
For the 45 foot walnut and insert tasteless joke here... There were sooooo many made, but I don't want to get Dawn a warning like from her last report with the CS comment
Look at you saving me while Dan tries to get me in trouble!!!
No Dawn, I can't make the tassles spin separate ways. Only clockwise.
That's cause you stand on your head when you try! :rotfl:

I have 9 years from Friday to wait, so we'll see where life takes me from here.
To turn 40! SNOT TIMES INFINITY!!!!
Edit: For now I'm going to go with 4,002.2 miles

Got it!!
Yay for Carsyn!! Does she want to see all of our prom pictures for inspiration? :rotfl2:
I would like to see a few!!

I also can't believe only 3 movies were watched the entire trip with such a huge selection! How many x-box games were brought along?
Baylor and Treyner played only 2 I think 99% of the time!!!

My guess is 4100. I feel like we're all on the Price is Right, watching everyone else's answers and guessing based off of that.....or am the only one who does that?
It does feel like that and I have your guess!

I will post pics as we go!!

Totally different than Carsyn's "Type" - shorter - a bit taller than her as of now, light brown and blue - hair like Zach E. (shaggy but coiffed) and really smart. Already taken his ACT's as a sophomore and wants to take university classes next year already. He is 16 though, just like 4 months younger than her but different grade.

Congratulations Carsyn!!!! I hope she has a wonderful time at the prom! I remember my daughter's prom, she drug me all over Atlanta to find the "perfect" dress and ended up with one from the first store we went to.:confused3.
