"Personally, I think I would make a great stripper!" 8/10 The End

Trying to finish up tonight...

the breakfast place looks awesome! I would love to plan a road trip around the show diners, drive-ins and drives. He finds such yummy looking things (drool!)

Gosh so much food and recipe talk! I grew up with a Mom who was a great cook and I somehow missed those genes (both my brothers got them though). I love the idea of cooking, just not the preparing and cleaning up...I do love to eat though! I would buy your cookbook but can't guarantee I would actually cook

My hubby once participated in an exchange program with a school in Ukraine. When the teacher from there came to stay with us, she fell in love with peanut butter, I had no idea other countries didn't have it. Greg was going to bring some to her when he went there but was told not to because apparently it has the same density as explosives and the scanning machines freak out...no idea if that's true or not!

I have a rule about vacations that we do not eat at any restaurant we can eat at home (my only exception is driving days when the boys really need a McD's with a play place to kill some energy!) My hubby hates it because he likes to know that he will like his food but he is pretty good about humoring me most of the time

I will have to stop at maid-rite again and take a pic for you!

I would like a tatoo but hubby isn't crazy about them, maybe if he won't take me to Disney for my 40th next year, I'll do that instead. I want a sun with my boys names on the arms (they both loved the song "you are my sunshine" when they were babies)

WHEW...Made it to the end!!!!!!

This artificial garbage that is in so much of our food - is taking more than it gives IMO.

Have you seen the new Jamie Oliver show on ABC, Food Revolution? Your comment above made me think of it. He's cooking in public schools in Huntington, WV, and trying to change the way the school system thinks about the food it feeds kids. Since it started, I've paid more attention to the food offered in the high school where I teach, and man... it's a miracle that any of our kids are at a healthy weight with the crap we feed them.

When I taught high school I once had a conference near the end of the semester with a parent whose child was dangerously close to failing my class for the second time. She commented that she didn't like that one of the final assignments was a group project and that wasn't fair because the work wasn't always divided equally. I REALLY wanted to say "you're right, it's not fair that someone has to be stuck in a group with your kid!"

I deal with parents like that at least once each semester! In fact, I spoke to one last week, whose daughter hasn't been at school since before spring break, and who doesn't understand why her daughter is failing. :confused3 Seems pretty obvious to me...

Found this site and totally thought of you. Course you may have already found it but here goes

http://find.mapmuse.com/interest/category/Restaurants

It's an interactive website that lists all the restaurants from Triple D and Bobby Flay's Throw Down, as well as some other categories. You can tell it the region, state or metro area and it'll show you all the ones that have been featured.

We're planning a road trip this summer to Florida and I just mapped out all the restaurants from Diners, Drive Ins and Dives that we're gonna pass along the way!

Thought it was kinda cool!

Mine were not thin but how old is your baking soda and do you keep it in an airtight container?

Tou, you would think Ishould know this, I keep my spices in amber jars and I DO change them every 6 months (June and Dec) faithfully, keep my baking powder in a jar, but for some reason I have never been faithful to my baking soda :rolleyes1 I guess it's time ..........:rotfl:

Oh, and the bars, awesome! I've made them before and didn't realize it :rolleyes1 (By the way, my husband's name is Dan:goodvibes ) He loves them too, he just said he wasn't as in the mood for rich the last couple of days. I like them best at room temperature.

Looking foeward to your cookbook!;)

Ok if we're sharing recipes, I'll share one. The wife of one of my coworkers made this last week and gave us the recipe, I made it last night and LOVE! I only keep Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder on hand so that is what I used and it turned out realllllly good, when she made it she used regular cocoa powder and it was really yummy too so it depends on your taste.

Chocolate Chess Pie

1 Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust

1 1/2 c sugar

3 T cocoa

1/2 t salt

1/2 stick butter, melted

2 lg eggs

2/3 c evaporated milk

1 t vanilla

cool whip

Preheat oven to 350. Unfold pie crust as directed on the box and place in a pie dish. Mix cocoa, sugar and salt. Blend in melted butter on low. Add eggs and beat for 3 minutes on medium. Stir in milk and vanilla. Pour into crust and bake one hour.

After it has cooled, top with CoolWhip

Wow, I didn't realize I had fallen so far behind, but I'm all caught up now! Great updates though and thanks for the recipes! I'll be sure to tell you how they turn out!

I love how you stop at unique restaurants on your way down to Florida. Too bad about the french toast though because it does look very good.

Looking forward to the next update!! :goodvibes

I think I found a new favorite TR writer  Unfortunatly, im only at the begiining and have to go for now

Thanks for the recipes, Dawn! I just made your Peanut Butter Bars tonight. Sampled the first one a few minutes ago. Yum, yum--good bedtime snack! (Depending on how far you've gotten in my TR, you may have noticed that I cannot resist the chocolate/peanut butter combo! :cloud9:) Thanks again!

Looking forward to more updates!

Need to do a good response to you all later today. I have read but am scrambling this morning!!!

2 Doc appointments for Dad and then I will be back!!!

I have the egg salad recipe to write today and started the next chapter.

I also have an announcement...

CARSYN IS GOING TO PROM AND IS OFFICIALLY NOT "SINGLE"!

She is a much happier girl which means we are all much happier as well! :rotfl2:

So in a month and a week we need a dress, shoes, accessories etc.

I am so excited for her and he guy Ben is so nice and polite. Baylor says he does not fit our family! :lmao:

I will try and get some pics of the dress hunt out as we go!

As far as the Most IMPORTANT DETAIL:

Marie the Cat...

You are the winner of the contest!

There were 3 movies watched with hundreds to choose from and the fact that Taylor had a hand held DVD device makes it even more sad.

The kids watched: Princess and the Frog

Taylor & Treyner watched: Happy Gilmore

Dan, Carsyn, Baylor and I watched: Ya Ya Sisterhood

It was totally a X-box trip!

Marie - send me a PM with your address so I can mail you your prize!

Next Contest:

How many miles did we drive total in our journey?

We live just outside of St. Paul, MN - so everybody has a fair chance to guess!!!

Close this next Sunday, April 18th!!!!

Wow, so much to comment on! I have to make sure I don't go so long in between... That darn tree took so much time and energy this weekend.

First off, YAY for Carsyn! I'm glad she is so happy. Yeah, Baylor says for now he doesn't fit, give him time though and he'll be forced to sink or swim, haha!

For the 45 foot walnut and insert tasteless joke here... There were sooooo many made, but I don't want to get Dawn a warning like from her last report with the CS comment :lmao:

No Dawn, I can't make the tassles spin separate ways. Only clockwise. I thought maybe it had something to do with us being in the Northern hemisphere, you know, like how the toilets swirl one way? Or maybe I'm just not that talented and need lessons ;)

I have wanted a stand mixer for sooooooooo long now. I do a lot of cooking and baking it would be so handy. I think I will ask my parents for one for Christmas. Man thats a long time to wait, but I can wait.

Stacy-I agree with turning 40 at Disney, what better place? I think I want to turn 40 either at Disney or on a beach with a frothy drink on my hand. I have 9 years from Friday to wait, so we'll see where life takes me from here.

Grumpy-you were asking when you add the Milk of Magnesia to the cookies. Well, it really depends on how constipated your family is. I added it when I was mixing the eggs together, if only a few need it, and some not, you could add it to their individual milk glasses instead

The good news is we have the tree mostly done. We just have to finish picking up sticks and then fill in the dents in the yard with some dirt and throw some seed down and let mother nature take over.

Good luck with your dad, Dawn!

My guess for mileage is pending. I can't remember, did you have to stop for Treyner at Anderson?

Edit: For now I'm going to go with 4,002.2 miles

How many miles did we drive total in our journey?

Close this next Sunday, April 18th!!!!

Ummmmm.... let's see... 4,575 miles. :hippie:

I will guess 4014 miles.

Of course, we didn't hear of any detours in your journey yet, so I suppose that could be a factor.

I'm sticking with 4014.

First Pluto is giving lap dances and now you're becoming a great stripper??!! LOL. Love your last trip report and love this one so far too. Sorry for lurking on the last one. I'll remember to comment this time.

Laura

:scratchin hmmmmmm I suppose I will guess 4750:confused:
Yay for Carsyn!! Does she want to see all of our prom pictures for inspiration? :rotfl2:
Congratulations Marie the Cat!! :goodvibes

Tracy

I can't wait to have time to try out some of your recipes. I have them all printed out and ready to go!

I also can't believe only 3 movies were watched the entire trip with such a huge selection! How many x-box games were brought along?

As for the total mileage - my guess is 4390!

Put me down for 4652 miles. Just a number that popped into my head.

Yay Carsyn!!!! There will be some sad tech boys now though. Oh well, she can still look at them when/if you guys get down here this summer. And Prom...oh I remember those days. I may still have a dress or 2 in my mom's closet. I guess we can get rid of those now. I can't wait for details on the dress hunting.

My guess is 4100. I feel like we're all on the Price is Right, watching everyone else's answers and guessing based off of that.....or am the only one who does that?
