Hi! I am wondering how a DVC rental works for "guests". My in-laws are planning to come see us for part of our Disney World stay. We were planning to get two separate resort rooms, but now I'm looking into the DVC point rentals. If we get a villa, can they come stay with us for half of our stay? Since tickets aren't part of the package, I'm assuming I can buy them fewer tickets than we need. Also, if we decide to do the dining plan, we need to do it for everyone, right? After they leave, can we use their remaining DP credits?

Yes, you would need to get the dining plan for all persons for all nights. Once they've gone, you would still have access to all DP credits so you could do some 2 credit meals if you desire. Or use the extra credits anyway you wish among the remaining room occupants.

You can purchase any length of theme park ticket necessary for each individual. The length does not need to match the length of stay.

Thanks Michael!

Very interesting. So we'd make the reservation like all 4 adults will be there all week, but then they just leave half-way through. I'm assuming we could all ride the Magic Express bus to the resort, the in-laws would just have to maybe get a taxi back to the airport?

Are there any other charges by number of people? (If we wanted to add ANOTHER adult, would it be just the extra dining plan fee?)

Your in laws will be able to use magical express. I would have a seperate ME reservation for them using their dates. You are correct about the fees, the villas do not charge the extra adult fee. You would just have to purchase the dining plan

You can set up ME for your in-laws both ways even though they are leaving a different day than you are. We have done this in the past. Is your additional adult for the entire time or just part of the trip? If the additional adult does not make you go over room capacity there will be no issue except as you said the additional DDP. What size villa and which resort are you thinking about?

Animal Kingdom Kidani - 2 bedroom Savannah. That would hold 9 people, right? We have 2 adults plus 3 kids plus grandparents. (And then possibly another adult.)

OK, thank you for your help! I just need to figure out if I can still rent points for something like this.

Thanks again for your help!

You should be good to go with this plan then. Having the 3 bathrooms will be a big plus also. Good luck with getting the reservation you want.

We have done this twice with 4 adults and 5 kids. It definitely does work but not all beds are 'equal'. It will be best to describe the situation before having the other adults commit. There is 1 king size bed in the Master, 2 'queen' sized beds in the second bedroom, and a pull out sofa bed and a pull out chair bed in the living room. The first time we did it, we gave our friends the Master since they had less children than we did. The second time, I insisted that we have the Master bedroom since they were our points. So if you care about where you are sleeping or your guests do, its important to share with them the setup.

Very good information, K3Chantal!! Thank you.

Unfortunately, it looks like there is nothing available for us in early December, so I'm going to have to go with the two regular rooms through Disney. :(

Not a surprise since most DVC resorts fill up at t he 11 month booking window for the first two weeks of December.

If you ever want to rent points in the future, you're going to have to plan much farther out than this. Especially for stays from October through mid-January. Plan to book 11 months out.

Boy I guess so!! I hadn't even heard of renting DVC until just recently. Unfortunately we are absolutely set on the first week of December this time. Maybe someday rental will be an option!

And that is the busiest time of the year for DVC members.

The first week of December is absolutely gorgeous at Disney. Last two times we went it was 80 degrees, sunshine, Christmas decorations, low crowds. Have a great time!

Totally agree with guppy..... First week of December is a wonderful time to go. Weather is perfect and low crowds makes it even more enjoyable!
