Pen for Character Autographs

Please, please, please, if you bring Sharpies, don't let your child stand in line with an uncapped pen. A little boy ruined one of our matching shirts by bumping into my son.:sad2: Just hand your kid the sharpie when he is next in line. :thumbsup2

Yeah, just the idea of permanent Sharpies in a child's hand makes me cringe. The retractable one sounds like a better option, but I can just see my kid clicking it in and out and it getting all over the place. So far I too have just done the big fat clicking ballpoint pens that they sell at the parks with the little snowglobe or dangly characters on the end. The kids like them and it's so much easier to remove from clothing or a backpack if something accidently lands on it and clicks it open--Plus it becomes a fun thing to take home. :thumbsup2

I picked up a two-pack of the retractable (better known here as clickable) Sharpies and hope they will work! :) My one gripe is that I couldn't find any colors, just black & red, I went with black since I don't have an auto book yet so not sure what color the pages will be (might make one).

I bought the same two pack yesterday :lmao:

My cousin bought my DD3 an autograph book at the NYC World of Disney and the pages are white. I'll also bring a fat, regular clickable pen as a backup. Thanks DISers!

We bought the two pack of clickable Sharpies last year to take, but my DS11 never used one since he still had his clickable fat pen with a Mickey head on it from the previous trip. He spent a lot of time getting autographs that first trip, but not so many the last time.

The only concern I might have with the Sharpies is that they sometimes show through the page, but since we didn't get to try them, I don't know if this is a problem. This might reduce your number of useable pages in the autograph book. Maybe someone who has actually used them can let us know since I have them ready to take on our upcoming trip also.

Totally cannot take credit for this tip, but LOVE it!

Take a silver and/or gold sharpie and have the characters sign your child's ears. I read a tip from a family who did this for each trip and has a wonderful collection of Ears!

I'm also making simple Mickey Silhouette tees for my kids (3 & 5) that say "1st Disney Trip" and "Earning Our Ears". I plan to use a Sharpie Rub-a-Dub and have characters sign the shirts. We do this for music festivals and they are great!!

Clickable sharpies. They have ones with a clip on them to clip onto your bag.

I LOVE this idea!

We also use the clickable sharpies, but I don't let my dd hold them.

My wife dragged me to a 99 cent or Dollar store last weekend and, amidst the piles of things I wouldn't buy for my kids, we found 3-packs of Disney character, thick barreled, pens. 33 cents each. That's tough to beat. I got two packs just in case.
