PeepsII-The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Feb 2010. 12/2-Part 2 has begun.

Chapter 50. None of the above.

Well, I think Wendy has decided on a plan of attack for her flights. However, she picked none of the options that I originally posted. Her favorite of course was adding 2 days. She, like me, would do almost anything to lengthen a WDW vacation. However, common sense won her over. Logistically it would've difficult to swing especially if Derek had to leave as planned leaving Wendy to travel solo with 3 small children.

She went with the option she spoke of a few posts after my update. They are converting some Starwood points (well, actually alot of points) to airline miles and travelling on points. She still hasn't booked these as they share the points with her parents and have yet to iron their timeshare plans for the next year. That said, it looks like they will be arriving on Saturday, Feb 6th late afternoon rather than early am on the red eye.

This all means......that I have to make some changes to my itinerary. So originally I had us all at the MK on Saturday the 6th. While I'd still like to do that, I have alot more flexibility that day.

Since I'm arriving late Friday/early Saturday, I can now take the opportunity to sleep in.:thumbsup2 I can also take my time getting ready (gotta decide which chonies to wear of course) and perhaps even eat a late leisurely breakfast. I can arrive at MK and just soak in the atmosphere.

Kim and Allan arrive from Newark around 10am and will probably meet up with me around 12:30 or 1pm. On the original itinerary, I had us doing lots of Fantasyland and my favorite, Toon Town...Now with adults only, we can hit all the thrill rides before Wendy and gang arrive:thumbsup2

I have several other changes to the itinerary that I'll post later tonight. Most due to the fact that Wendy lost a day in the parks and we need to make that up.

Oh, one more thing, I need opinions about me doing the Deluxe Dining Plan...I've made ADRs based on the assumption that I will be doing the DxDP. HOWEVER, I've been thinking the last 2 days about it. I've had a stressful year and more stressful last few months. Do I need to be tied down to so many ADRs? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the choices I made. I do know that I also need to relax and do nothing....your 2 cents?

GB has a way with the words...:worship::worship::worship:

He does indeed !!! Methinks he is the decendant of Will Shakespere !!!:rotfl2:

Jordan I say go for deluxe !!! I have promised myself to do that one year !!!

Hope Wendy's points wrk out well and she gets the light she wants!!!

Now get to some serious TRIP PLANNING such as which "chonies" to wear which day:rotfl2:

only a true DISer would actually be HAPPY about making changes to their itinerary. ;)

isn't that THE most important decision of the day???

i have an idea. why don't you just take the money that you'd spend on doing the DxDP for whatever amount of time you are thinking about doing that, put that amount on a visa gift card for yourself, make/keep the ADRs and pay out of pocket. that way if you don't use the ADRs, no money lost, and you can just spend the money on whatever you want.....even sensible stuff like groceries when you get home! this is sort of what i'm doing for our next trip. when i added up what we'd probably be ordering if we had a choice to on the DDP or even the DXDP, it made more sense to pay out of pocket for what we wanted - we actually will be saving money. we just don't eat all those snacks and whatnot. and think about it - neither DP covers alcohol or tip, so those are things you'd be paying out of pocket for anyway. just a thought. :teacher:

Yeah, what she said LOL. I think that is a great idea!

I totally dig Punkin's idea about the visa gift card! I told her that when I read it on her PTR. We are probably going to try this on our June trip!:thumbsup2

That sounds like a good way to go -- I am sure Wendy will be relieved when the flights are booked.

:lmao:

You mean you won't have them in individual ziploc bags with the days labeled on the outside??? And I thought you were a true DISer. ;)

For us, the table service meals force us to slow down and relax, but I do have to say I really like Dawn's idea!

You had an appendicitus about the same time as my son did.
Sorry for not seeing this sooner, but as most know, I rarely get to the pre-trip board.:rotfl:
Hope you are feeling better.
I'm actually thinking some kind of bug is attacking the appendix
we know at least 5 other people -all guys-that had appendicituses.

You've been planning your trip since June.
I got nothin.
I just found out I get to go to WDW while my dh is at his conference again.:cool1: in February. Maybe I should let you plan my 4 days.
I do have 3 days left on an old ticket, and I have a 10 day ticket that needs to be upgraded to a non-expiring.
That's it.

Thanks Millie! Actually we'll be traveling to San Antonio on Christmas to see our DSIL and his family - we've been caring for the grandbabies since they were born, DGS 4 and DGD 2 - they moved out there in July after finishing school and getting jobs as teachers. We miss them terribly, so it is not a big sacrifice to travel on Christmas, just weird! I will be very excited!:banana::banana:

Hey! You'll be in my neck of the woods! I'm only an hour and 45 mins. from S.A.! Magicfor2 will be in Texas!! I use to live there, before moving to the Austin area. ;) Hope you have a great time and enjoy your kids, sounds like you did a great job with them, anyone who becomes a teacher is worthy of :worship:. I on the other hand don't have what it takes to teach a classroom full of kids....I guess I shouldn't say I'm not totally cut out for it beacause I do homeschool my dd10.
Have a great time in S.A.

:woohoo: Yeaaaa for changing the plans! This always adds a demention of fun.

Sounds like Punkin has a great idea! I think this would be the best way to go, this way you get what you want on both accounts.

I think your right, my friend just had one a month or so ago, I thought it was kinda strange to know two people over forty who've had to have them removed. Hmmmm maybe a Government conspiracy? :confused3
:rotfl: J/K

Hooray! More planning fun for you, lol. I think you'll enjoy having the day to yourself. Not sure what to tell you about the dining plan, since I've never done it. I like punkin's idea as well, but I know if it was me, and I was using it for every meal, I may have a tendency to order less expensive things knowing I'd have money left on the card at the end if I did that..if that makes sense. Whereas if I was on a plan, knew it was paid for, I would order whatever I wanted without worrying about the cost. Decisions, decisions.

I would be FREAKING out if my air wasn't booked yet.

Don't tell me to plan for you, that's like giving an alcoholic a six pack. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

that's kinda weird about only guys having the bad appendixes.

Why, thank you very much! I'm very proud of both of them! They had the choice of staying here and going in to debt to get their Master's as required in Oregon, or going to Texas last year and teaching, but they felt they wanted to be better qualified, so they chose to do that last year. They do love the kids and love to see the  happen for the students. I agree - I couldn't be a teacher.
Congrats to you for home schooling! I don't think I could do that, either!

What kind of weather should we expect? I'm trying to figure out what to pack. Oh, and we get to go to SeaWorld free while we're there with Military tickets:cheer2: So excited!

I really like Dawn's idea, too now that I think about it more. I still think we would look at the prices, but we'd do okay. I really don't like planning our park days around the ADRs, but you have to have them if you want a table anywhere - that happens whether you have the DDP or not.

as far as looking at the prices, what i did was go to each menu where we'd be eating, pick out what i wanted and what i think ray would want, one appetizer to split and one dessert to split usually (NOT looking at the prices), then alloted about $20-$25 for drinks, added in tax and tip, alloted $25/day on CS meals and $60 for snacks for the entire trip (7 days). then i took that amount and compared it to both the DDP and the DxDP by adding in tip and alcohol and we still came out ahead by paying out of pocket. it's sort of different than what i suggested for you but it's the same concept. instead of being told what you MUST use your credits on, you can use the money any way you want and if you don't want to keep an ADR, no big deal. nothing is lost. you still have that money to do what you want to with it. but like i said, it just works better for us. i think if we were big snackers we'd go with the DxDP. but we just don't eat that much food.

Using points makes a lot of sense in their situation, hopefully they will get it figured out soon. I love the fact that they have so many time share options to choose from. Jealous!

I find the "To DDP or not DDP" a challenge.

Yes, I would eat differently (either Deluxe or not) if I could just order. AKA no desserts and probably salads and apps depending on hunger level, Deluxe takes care of that.

BUT, regardless of whether I'd put the money on a Visa card or pay with my debit card if I don't do the DDP I will be adding as I go and just even thinking about it makes it less "vacation like" to me. So while I love the flexibility you'd get by not doing the plan, I think we are probably going to stick with it. Not adding things up as I went, for 7 days, was one of the best vacation gifts I've ever given to myself and everytime I think about not doign the plan...I need to remember that! For me, it was worth the limitations.

Now. Deluxe verus DDP? Deluxe is a lot of sitting down. But aren't you doing Deluxe just for your Solo AKL days? For that I think it's fine. For the entire trip it might be a bit much.

I love the fact you get a lazy morning (if you so choose) on the first day, it sounds like a more relaxing start to the trip.

Morning Peeps !!! I prefer the ddp as I don't want to scimp on what I order and am such a tight wad I'd be ordering bread and water !!:rotfl2:

Ooooo. Are you able to come to the states any time soon (I realize as I'm about to say this that I should pull my tongue out for doing it ;)) non-Disney realated, so you can have surgery? I know exactly what your going through and how painful it is. I've been there and done that and wish I didn't have the T-shirt to prove it.... I had mine out several years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. :worship: Thank you Lord! There's no way you could do it there, huh?

Well, I could but run a very high risk of them mistaking my lung for my gall bladder. So in all practicality, "NO!". A friend of mine (a local) had hers taken out last year. She now has a beautiful 12 inch long scar, and was the color of an overripe banana for about 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure they either nicked her liver, or they made such a mess in there that she nearly bled out.

No thanks!

EXACTLY ME! Going with DP of any kind helps with the tight was sydrome I suffer from.
