Patriots Fans~ It's time to...

Me thinks that no matter what you tell some people, there are those who are going to think Brady and Moss backed out because they lost the SB...and you're not going to convince otherwise.

I don't blame those guys from backing out of the Pro Bowl. I've always found it to be such an afterthought. Maybe the NFL should look into just naming the teams and not actualy playing the game.

Agreed. :thumbsup2

As for no one hating a losing franchise, well then people around the country must just love us Cincinnati fans, the Bengals haven't had a winning franchise in over a decade :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will love it if the rumors are true that Chad Johnson might get traded to the Panthers. I will be indebted to the Bengals if that comes to pass.

Even though it's an honor to be chosen, I have no problem with players pulling out of the Pro Bowl. At this time of year a lot of players are banged up, having surgeries to get ready for next year, and/or are older guys who are just plain spent from playing 16 weeks of NFL football.

However I think the biggest reason for a player to skip it is that there's always the chance that someone is going to try and use it for a "proving ground", and then someone gets popped over a meaningless game. So as you can tell, not a big fan of the Pro Bowl over here.

But I am a HUGE Brett Farve and the Packers fan Disney Ron, so another example if you please.

I agree!!!! Anoher huge Packers fand and Brett Favre (notice correct spelling?) fan here!!!! He has pulled out for years to heal from the season and to have surgury.

I really have no problem with Moss or Brady pulling out of the Pro Bowl. It is a meaningless game. I DO have a huge problem with Belichek leaving the field before the game is officially over!! All I can say is Go Pack for next year and hope they're in the Super Bowl.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I'm laughing because I went to buy our Giants Superbowl hats and tees yesterday and spent $168.00! Good thing someone else hosted the SUperBowl party or we'd be broke!

...YIKES! My DS went to NYC this morning to see the parade....I'll be going to Giants Stadium later, since we only have a half day (for the Primaries) with my friend.....:woohoo:

I agree. I am glued to my TV for pro football from preseason in August through the Superbowl, but never do watch the Pro Bowl. I assume someone must watch it because they keep having it. Who are those people who watch it?:confused3

Yes I watched the game and I saw them shake hads. i also saw the official tell them to go back because they had to finish the game. He walked off the field like an angry child going to their room because they didn't get their way. I know all the fans from NE will keep saying "he didn't know" but that is BS -- you can't tell me a "great" coach like that doesn''t know what is happening on the field.

This is one area we will always disagree -- so I'm leaving it at that.

hmmmm from what i saw he walked to tom coughlin shook and hand and said something to him i'm guessing congrats. whatever

It is the tone of comments like these that I was referring to. People have attacked many for comments about the 19-0, etc. and how we are a bunch of arrogant fans (generalizing here, not saying everyone says it or all fans are arrogant), and then the turn around and make comments that are in the same nature of the ones they are accusing us of. The grass is no greener, it is always nicer to be on the winning side, but why is it that people have to resort to mudslinging. When I have posted on previous games that we won/lost, I have commended the other team on how they played. Giants outplayed New England, plain & simple. I personally don't like either of the Mannings, I see them as arrogant as some see Brady - to each their own opinion. However they are both amazing athletes (I do recognize that) and that is why they have achieved what they have. Bottom line, players and fans both talk alot of smack about the other team to cause a reaction, get the others riled up.

Serving up crow, I don't think so. But maybe some humble pie when a defeat like that brings you back down to earth.

What a great post. I spent about a 1/2 hour on Boston.com last night reading several ignorant comments (most of which came from Giants fans, or non-Patriots fans). The fact of the matter is that people across the country in general do not like New England sports (for whatever reason). I had a conversation with my parents about that and they indicated that in general people have always had a distaste for us. With comments like some of the Giants fans have been making, I'm not surprised we have been labeled as ignorant though.

I do admit that the Giants deserved to win and I was never in the "Pats will win" pool and I never underestimate an underdog. I remember the First of THREE Superbowls the Pats won. They were also underdogs. The Giants played a better game and they deserved to win, but the Pats are still winners in my eyes.

I think most of us outside New England found the Red Sox to be more charming when they were lovable losers. Now they're just "Yankees-lite" to many of us.
As for the Celts... I don't know that there's a lot of historic animosity about them. Remembering back to the dynasty of the 80's, everybody was just in awe of Bird and company.
The Patriots? eeeehhh.. there's just something about that whiff of arrogance coming off this team and some of those who loved them ths year. Those of us who are not die-hard NE fans didn't take too kindly to that. After they get their faces punded in the turf for a while, miss the playoffs for a long time, and find themselves looking up at the rest of the division for a couple of decades, all will be forgiven.
Boston College... I admire the program -especially Coach Skinner and the basketball team. I'm glad they're in the ACC so I get to see them regularly. I just aways pull against them against the Big Four (NC State, Duke, Carolina, Wake). BC is like "adopted family" now. :goodvibes

Just remember one thing, no matter the outcome in the last 7 years the Pats never complain and never make excuses. ESPN said this morning that the Giants are saying things about the Pats that the Pats NEVER said about the teams they defeated in the Super Bowl. ESPN also brought up the fact that the Pats as a team have been nothing but gracious talking about the Giants after the game.

I give them credit. They have never complained period and they should be commended for that and that comes right from Belicheck whether you like him or not.

P.S. This post was not singling you out, sorry if it looks that way.

:rotfl2: My statement had nothing to do with how the Patriots have conducted themselves since losing the game. I was referencing all the talk since early in the season about being perfect. Patriots probably have the national media to thank for building that disdain for them in the rest of us outside PatriotNation.

I will love it if the rumors are true that Chad Johnson might get traded to the Panthers. I will be indebted to the Bengals if that comes to pass.

I've always been a Chad fan. I know a lot of people around the league don't like his antics, but I've always felt they were truly done just for the enjoyment of the fans, not to belittle other players or the league itself.

I think by midseason this year, after it was clear the Bengals were not going to have the season that we had all hoped for (a lot of people around here last summer thought this could possibly be our year to make it a couple of games into the playoffs) Chad just got sick and tired of it being the same old Bengal cr*p that it has been for so long. I was not happy with the way he acted the last part of the season, but here's a guy who has played his heart out for all these years, and I think he is just sick and tired of losing.

As much as I hate to see him go, I do think it is time to trade him. He's not happy here anymore, and it is causing way to much tention on the team. He's a good guy and I hope he does well wherever he ends up.

He said a couple of weeks ago he'd like to be a Patriot. I'd love to see that happen.
