This may be a really stupid question...

I just got my passport in the mail today. (Applied for it 10 days ago, too! quick). I guess I'm supposed to sign it above my picture (where it says signature). What about for my five year old's passport? Just leave that unsigned or do I sign it on her behalf?

thanks!

I believe you are to sign it on her behalf. My boss has signed her daughters so I'm assuming you have to. I had to sign my dd's application and I think it has to match the signed passport. Hope someone else can answer this.

The Canadian Passport office indicates the following ...

Does my child need to sign his passport?

Only children 11 years of age or over are required to sign their own passports.

I am still looking for verification for other passports ...

Since we are americans living oversea's DS (6-1/2) has had two passports, the first being issued when he was 5 days old, the second when he was five. Both parents had to sign the application and one was to sign the passport. I signed DS's name and then underneath I wrote "by mother" and my signature. Until children are able to sign their name in script there is no need for them to sign the passport.
