Parks? What Parks? We're Here for the FOOD!**PICS!** COMPLETE!

Great review for the afternoon tea. I am hoping to try it during my December trip. Do you remember what kind of sandwiches that you were served with your Grand Tea?

I just found your review and am enjoying it so much! Thanks for taking the time to write for us!

I can't wait to read the rest of your report. I loved the afternoon tea when I had it in November. :goodvibes

Just found your report this afternoon and read all of it :thumbsup2 Only problem is I don't know if I'm more hungry or jealous :confused3 :rotfl:

Can't wait for more :goodvibes

oooohhhh.. I can't wait to hear more about the afternoon tea!! I heard a woman on a podcast talking about it and she said she just loved the pear & gorgonzola sandwich! (I believe that's what it was!).

When we last left off, we had just been served our first plates...

I have to tell you, I LOVED those little sandwiches. The pear & gorgonzola one was to DIE FOR. I suppose if I had to choose a "least favorite" it would have to be the watercress & cucumber. It was fairly bland and I can't eat cucumbers (they fight back). All in all I really enjoyed my first plate.

DH also LOVED his plate. He was very happy with his selection and thanked me a number of times. He was much happier with his plate than he would have been with mine because of the flavors and things he'd never tried before (he'd never eaten pate before).

As a side note, DH and I had "tea" just before Christmas with some family and I made several tea sandwiches. They included the pear one. Everyone RAVED about it. DH loved them too!

Here are the extra crackers DH got with his first plate.

Next came my scone and strawberry tart.

The scone was served hot with jam and devonshire cream. The tart rounded out the fat-fest.

If you are not familar with Devonshire cream, let me enlighten you as to what that little pretty dish holds.

From Joyofbaking.com
clotted cream produced commercially in Devon Cornwall and Somerset England. It is a thick, rich, yellowish cream with a scalded or cooked flavor that is made by heating unpasteurized milk until a thick layer of cream forms on its surface. The milk is then cooled and the layer of cream is skimmed off. Clotted cream has 55-60 percent fat content and is so thick it does not need to be whipped.

That's right, 55-60 percent FAT. So thick it doesn't need to be whipped...

My thighs are getting dimples just typing that.... "doesn't need to be whipped."

I didn't know any of this while I was eating this little fat bomb. I have to tell you it was good. Really good. I will never eat it again, though, knowing what I know now. DH agrees... We will stick with regular butter or nothing at all!

DH got a similar plate. This was his final one. He didn't get "dessert." :rotfl2:

My final plate was "dessert." I got an eclair and a blueberry mousse filled pastry.

The eclair was good... Just a regular old eclair. It's hard to screw that up... Pate a choux, cream, and dipped in chocolate... YUM!

But that swan as soooooo gooooodddd... I really like blueberry flavor. Really like it and when I was offered my choices it was the obvious one because of the blueberry thing. I wish now I had gotten two of those. DH had a very small bite and agreed. It reallly was to die for! The mousse was creamy, not too sweet, a little tart and full of blueberry goodness. I wish I had the recipe to make this stuff!

Total OOP for the Afternoon Tea - $49.53 plus tip. An excellent value (by Disney standards)!!

We made our way out of V&A's and over to a soggy MNSSHP with full bellies. We really enjoyed tea and plan on visiting the Gardenview Tea Room again!

A Blueberry swan???

If my husband had eaten that he would have said it tasted like purple. :lmao:

So glad to read that you enjoyed your afternoon tea, but watch out now because it's addictive!! ;)

OMG the Tea sounds amazing, well except I don't drink tea, yes I'm English and don't drink tea :rotfl2:

BTW over here they sell clotted cream ice-cream :cloud9: Obviously there aren't hardly any calories in it :lmao:

Great review! Glad you enjoyed the Tea! I just HAD to make an ADR there after Brenda's review and now I'm doubly glad I did, looking forward to it!

I love clotted cream :) :) :)

A bit of a silly question though, do they give you milk to put in your tea?

Allow me, since I'm here. ;)

If you ask them for milk they'll bring you some, but you have to ask. I know because this happens to me every time we do afternoon tea and I'm a milky tea kinda girl. :lmao:

Hope you enjoy it once you get there Hayley!

Thanks for updating your post with the sandwich selection. :thumbsup2 OK, you have me convinced! The Tea is definitely on my list for December!

:teeth: Thanks Brenda!

I had visions of them brining me unmilkened (hey look at me, I made up a word!) tea and making me drink it :rotfl:

Ahh well, I could demand them bring me more scones and jam to make up for the trauma ;)

Funny -- I would say it tastes like blue. :lmao: Serioulsy, it was so good!
I happen to love blueberry flavor (last night at the grocery store I bought dark chocolate covered blueberries... yummy!) so this was right up my alley!

It's already been addictive. I now drink tea everyday (when everyone else drinks coffee!) and we had the "tea" at the house. DD has already asked when can we do that again?!!

Thanks for helping with the milk question... I didn't know the answer b/c I didn't think to add it to my tea! :headache:

Just reading that I think I gained 5 pounds (stones to you?) Anyway, you can keep that ice cream... I have a hard enough time with the "regular stuff.":rolleyes1

You will love it!!:cutie:

I have been loving your reviews so much that I had to share them with my DH...a huge food and wine fan! Makes us wish the F&W festival was on right now! We hope to try and do the V&A chef's table this October.....thank thank thank you fellow food and wine people! :worship: And thanks again for the review of the Coral Reef event - we are trying to figure out what we want to do this year and plan to add that to the list for sure.

As the day wound down and we attended MNSSHP, we really weren't all that hungry... Go figure.

Just as the party was winding down, I had the sudden urge for a Casey's Hot Dog and Fries.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/500/36909grand_slam.jpg[/IMG

DH and I shared a dog, fries, a lemonade, and threw the dessert away. We used one CS credit for this meal. I have no idea what it would have cost OOP.

What can I say about a Casey's dog?

For me, this is Disney.

Sitting outside Casey's at the little patio tables, watching parents carry their sleeping children, seeing couples strolling by holding hands, the lights, the smell, the feeling you get just sitting there. The castle was lit up beautifully and DH and I juste enjoyed being there, together. All the while munching on a hot dog, sipping a lemonade and sharing some fries.

The food was good. The atmosphere was better.

More food porn coming up!

love the afternoon tea review, especially the description of the clotted cream....

60% fat - i just want to wallow in it.....

oink grunt snort.
