Parks? What Parks? We're Here for the FOOD!**PICS!** COMPLETE!

Jay and I have said that the next time we do the Chef's Table (don't we sound confident ... :rotfl2: ) we would also love to share the experience with a group of friends. Wouldn't that be a great evening?

And the cheese ... we've been gorging on cheese all winter. I think I'm just going to start ordering direct from Cypress Grove. ;)

Really enjoyed your review, Ms. H. Great job! :goodvibes

Sharing a table sounds so fun! When's your trip in 2009?:rolleyes1 You could get whites and I can get reds and we can compare! Then we can gasp and groan over the cheese course together too!;)

Seriously, I love CHEESE! Next time I'm near Stinktown :lmao: I will bring some Wabash Cannonball :goodvibes and a bottle of wine or two (or six)!

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for finishing your Chef's Table review, so interesting, those chocolate desserts look amazing.

Laur's princess:

You're welcome!!

Those desserts WERE amazing... I wish I had a personal chef so I could have them more often!

Thanks for reading.:dance3:

Wolfgang Puck Cafe in Downtown Disney

The next day, we weren't very hungry until lunch (go figure... ) so we headed over to DTD for a little shopping and walking (too many calories consumed the night before.

We got to DTD via the Boat from POR. It was a nice ride and I got to see the Treehouse Villas (where I stayed as a child). It was sad to see them so... unkept. There were beer cans everywhere and the plants were all overgrown.

Oh, sorry this is a dining report...

So we walked from one end of DTD to the other to eat at the OTHER Wolfgang Pucks.

Here was the menu...

It's kindof fuzzy, but the menu was very... varied. (sorry for that:lmao: )

I got light lemondade and Thomas got tea.

For lunch, I got a panini and Thomas got a BBQ Chicken Pizza.
The Allears menu describes the pizza as: BBQ Chicken - Mozzarella Cheese, sweet red onions, tomato, cilantro, and our sweet and tangy bbq sauce . The sandwich is described as: Warm Chicken Aioli - Sliced chicken breast, melted provolone cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, and cilantro aioli

For dessert, we had key lime pie and a brownie.

The sandwich was just okay. The bread was well toasted and the filling was good. I ate it, but honestly, I just still wasn't all that hungry. Also -- it seemed really oily. The lemonade was my favorite item...:)
Thomas' pizza wasn't to my liking. If you like BBQ pizza you might like - but I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce so I didn't much care for it. He loved it and almost finished it. The crust was really good, and everyone knows if you get a good crust, you're 80% "there."

Thomas wasn't hungry AT ALL for dessert and mine wasn't very good. His was REALLY sweet and he just wasn't thrilled with it. Mine was a somewhat subpar brownie that tasted "manufactured." We threw them away. They weren't good and were NOT worth the calories. :)

The total OOP here would have been $24.01, but we used 2 counter service credits. SOOOO worth it here!

Have never thought to try Wolfgang Pucks but that pizza does look good :goodvibes

Laur's princess:

The pizza does look good. We ate at WP express las January and I thought it was horrible. I think I may have ordered the worng thing, and I am pretty sure I was not in a good mood that day:lmao: But after reading some of the reviews on here latley and seeing the pics I may have to try it again.

Great review, can't wait to read more:thumbsup2

OOOOOOOhhhhhhh!!!! That pizza looks so good!!!!!!!!:worship:

I thought the crust was SOOOOOOOO good... The bbq sauce... Not so much!
Thanks for reading!

Why oh why do I read these when I am starving!

Great report on the chocolates Ms. H.

Doesn't that chocolate look soooo good!!! I wish I could have some RIGHT NOW!!
I really try to stay away from this board and the grocery store when I am hungry!

Laur's princess:
You should try it -- the menu has so much good looking stuff on it! And if you are paying OOP, it is pretty reasonable (by Disney standards). :)

Thanks for the compliment!:flower3:
You should try it again for sure. The selections were many and the food we had was good, but after the night before we were just in a food coma and couldn't really appreciate it!

OMG! I am still stuck on the ice cream on the first page! I have GOT TO TRY THAT!!
I think -- in my honest opinion -- the No Way Jose is probably one of the BEST desserts on property! Go get one!

After doing a little shopping in DTD, we decided we wanted a snack to take back with us to the room.

Today was a "No Park Day" because we were going to MNSSHP tonight and also because we knew we'd be out late-ish at V&A's - so we took some time looking around and browsing.

I had read about the create your own treat at Goofy's, so we headed over there.

We got behind the S-l-o-w-e-s-t people I have ever been behind in my life... PLUS the three (three!) members of their family were leaning on the counter so they took up the ENTIRE area. No one else could even get in to grab an order sheet. so we waited.

And waited.

And waited.

Finally they decided what they were going to order....

And commenced to standing three across (taking up as much room as they could) in front of the observation area. Thomas finally went to stand over by the tables away from the preparation area because he was so annoyed.

Finally we grabbed our sheets and placed our order.

Then.... The s-l-o-w-e-s-t CM I have ever seen took our papers and started our order. He's the older gentleman in this picture.

Looking back, I think maybe he was new, so didn't know what he was supposed to be doing....

Anyway something like almost 40 minutes after we walked in we finally walked OUT with our treats.

Thomas got a giant Oreo coverd with dark chocolate, peanuts, and peanut butter cups.

I got three pretzel rods also dipped in dark chocolate with pecans, peanut butter cups, and oreo crumbs.

We ate on these over the next several days but never finished them...

Well worth 2 snack credits!

I just discovered your report today and have read all 10 pages at once! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to include the details and share your opinions - its what makes this so enjoyable to read.

MMMMMMMMMMMM those pretzels rods look so good. That's what I chose in December. I brought them home to eat. Unfortunately it only took me three days. I want to go back just to get them again.

Just loving your report.

Loving your fantastic reviews, I can't believe how many course there were at V&A and your toilet story was hilarious :rotfl:

Open That Bottle Night.... Sounds like fun... :thumbsup2 Can I steal the idea? :rolleyes1 ... Wish you knew the name of the cake... Maybe we could hijack a picture from another thread! Are you going to post your reviews or pictures of the chef's table?
Sorry for being such a slacker! I will do a complete review (pictures too big to upload, have not had time to work on that). I will start a new thread for my review, but in the meantime:

• Open That Bottle Night is something our local wine critic promotes, along with his colleagues at the WSJ as a way to celebrate wine.
• The cake at the P4TS was done by Patty Mitchell, Crestone Group, and was called the Chocolate Decadence Cake with Marscapone Ice Cream.

De-lurking on your review to ask a quick question about Goofy's. You mentioned an order sheet--so you get a piece of paper and write down what you want? And then they make it for you and call out your name or number or something? And you can specify different items on each of the 3 pretzels, correct? I'm thinking we might like to get one order of 3 and share (many times, of course).

Thanks also for the terrific reviews--you managed to make a $400 dinner sound worth every penny--and welcome back!

this is the best dining review ever!! why you ask?

1. - you are from Texas! I'm a Texan who moved up to the North and miss my home state soooo badly.

2. - you love cheese! My love of cheese runs deep. :lovestruc I have told DH that when I retire I want to live on a farm, raise a few goats, and make artisan goat cheese to sell (if I don't eat it all myself first!).

3. - V&A review. I have always wondered what it would be like to dine there and wow! I can see it's marvelous! DH and I are big into food and trying new things (we are avid TOP CHEF watchers) and now someday I plan on going to V&A with him! How in the world did you manage to eat all of that food? And just the fact that you get a pre-dessert dessert makes my head spin! I love it!

If we ever move back to Texas, I know who our dining buddies will be!!! Now I want to go to V&A with friends who appreciate food as much as you two!

thanks again... I can't wait to hear the rest!

I have to say I was happy with my snack selection. The sweet/salty combination was fantabulous! Try something different is my motto! Next time I will, because, really... Is there ANYTHING that I won't eat when it's dipped in dark chocolate!?!?

Loving your fantastic reviews, I can't believe how many course there were at V&A and your toilet story was hilarious :rotfl:

Thanks for reading! The "toilet incident" will be brought up an MANY family functions at the Heimlich house!

I looked up this website and I need to say that I wish I lived in Georgia. I would love to take part in this!

Still can't find a picture of your cake... Still looking too!

Yes. There is a paper order form. I don't remember being able to choose EXACTLY what went on each pretzel rod. They did that for me. I think b/c I picked 3 things they put in on the different pretzels. And yes, they call your name when it's done. They refridgerate it for a minute or so to let the chocolate "set."

Well, HOWDY from TEXAS!! IT's nice to have you here! It really is like no place else on earth What part are you from?

Cheese. Is there a more perfect food? I think not.

As far as V&A's goes... YOU HAVE TO DO THIS... IF you appreciate food AT ALL, you will go GaGa over this!

If you ever visit Texas, drop me a message... Well get some really GREAT Tex-Mex!!

Okay I finally put my review of the CT up. Happy reading.

GREAT JOB!! Everyone will love this review!

Wonderful reviews!!

Thanks!

Our next gastronomic adventure took us BACK to the Grand Floridian, but this time we went to the Gardenview Tea Room for Afternoon Tea.

This was my request for the trip and Thomas agreed after I showed him several reviews on the dis (especially oybolshoi’s). Once we decided on it, I think he was excited about it.

We got to the tea room and it was really quiet. There were only about 3 other parties having tea. They seated us in the very back of the room right next to the large plate glass windows so we could enjoy a very beautiful view while enjoying our tea.

We had decided that since we were attending MNSSHP this evening, that this would be our “dinner” for the evening so we arrived hungry.

Our waitress came over, gave us our menus and found out this was our first visit to the Tea Room. She offered us some tips on choosing a tea and was in general an EXCELLENT server. She even took a picture of the two of us together at our table. I wish I had’ve written down her name!

Because I had spent a large amount of time studying the menus of all the places we were planning on eating, I knew I wanted the Grand Tea. Thomas didn’t have a clue what to order so I suggested he try the Prince Edward’s Tea. He really isn’t much of a sweets eater. A lot of the time, too many sweets give him a tummy ache. The lack of so much “dessert” and the addition of pate and nuts was why I suggested this one for him…

Here is what allears.net has to say:

The Grand Tea - The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of Domaine Ste.-Michelle sparkling wine and your choice of tea. $25.50 per guest (Example of tea sandwiches may include: cucumber with watercress, shrimp salad with dill, chicken salad with almonds, grilled pear with gorgonzola, and egg salad, each on a different bread.)
Prince Edward's Tea - A delicious array of assorted pates, and English Blue Stilton, the "King" of English cheeses, served with marinated fresh berries, and Cumberland sauce. We then offer our delicious fresh-baked scones served with rich Devonshire cream. Your choice of our tea with a glass of our Fonseca Bin 27 Character Port. $21.00 per guest

After much deliberation, I chose the Mad Hatter tea (a black tea blend) and Thomas chose the Osmanthus Oolong.

The front is Thomas’ Oolong, the background is my “Mad Hatter’s.”

Here is what allears.net has to say:

Mad Hatter - A blend of passion fruit, pomegranate, and vanilla for a clean and sweet finish. Perfect with decadent desserts and companions.

Osmanthus Oolong - Top grade oolong tea from Formosa delicately scented with rare Osmanthus flowers for a broad and unique flavor. Highly coveted and prized for its champagne aroma and deep rich flavor.

I LOVED my tea. They were right – it went PERFECTLY with the rich, decadent desserts I shoveled down my throat in there! Thomas liked his okay, but he now knows he prefers stronger teas and will, in the future order a black tea or a strong herbal tea.. I couldn’t help him there, so he was on his own!

Here is the place setting when we sat down at our table:

First we had our “entrées” and drinks. Thomas got his port (which he STILL didn’t care for) and I got my glass of sparkling wine (which I’m not crazy about).

This is a picture of my “wine” and in the background/side you can see Thomas’ drink.

Then our first plates.

My sandwiches were: shrimp salad, pear & gorgonzola, cucumber & watercress, and chicken salad. I was also given an onion tartlet.
Thomas had berries, pate, blue cheese, and he asked the waitress for some extra crackers. The plate came with 2 pieces of crostini and it wasn't enough to eat with all the goodies!

To be continued...
