Parks to go non-smoking with designated smoking areas

This is great :thumbsup2 despite being a smoker myself I hate smoking around others especially children and always try to stand out the way. I do hope they put the areas in 'out the way ' places as often in WDW they are near to ride exits / food carts etc. seems a bit silly to me. At the Wilderness Lodge one of the smoking areas was right outside the side entrance:confused3

sadly in reality there are still smokers in the park and in the queues  and even when you ask them they do not put them out. we didnt see one single staff member asking a guest to put it out, or leave the queue as they are supposed to. it was the only thing we hated about our trip.

If required I have alerted the CM to instances of guests smoking in the queue.
I have always suggested that a manager could be brought in to sort this out. But in every case the CM has said no this will not be necessary ;) I can deal with this and tells the guest to cease smoking :thumbsup2

Hi,, just a quick question,,,
so I understand that smoking in the parks is now banned, :yay: but what about the hotel rooms onsite? Are they all non smoking rooms now? Nothing worse than getting into a bed which smells of stale tobacco :(

Don't know about the Disney hotels but the Explorers is now completely non smoking including all the rooms. As for the parks we were there the first weekend in June and people were still smoking in the park as before. I wasn't aware of the new smoking policy and didn't notice any difference.
I hope they start enforcing this more as having to put up with the smell of cigarettes is one thing we have always hated about the parks

Excellant News, it did bother us a little on our recent trip, you would be standing in a queue and suddenly turn around and just miss a cigarette in your face!!

excellent news!!!! i was at a theme park in holland a few years back and there was a family of 4 in front of us who all smoked...as soon as one put theirs out someone else had lit up another one!

... not everyone is anti smokers!

ill be the one smoking loads of cigarettes in the designated smoking areas!.

puff puff :snooty:

PS: Even my hands stinks of smoke  :rotfl2:

Hey I am not an anti smoker!! I myself am a smoker! Just hate the smell of smoke on sheets, I don't smoke indoors, and wouldn't dream of lighting up in a queue where there are kids around,

but ... I will be seeking out the smoking areas at various times of the day :)

Good for you :thumbsup2 Hopefully with support others will take a similarly helpful and constructive view by making good use of the designated areas :goodvibes

No need to say sorry ... I think most of us that don't smoke only want the smoking in the ques to stop. I'm all for "to each his own" as long as my little one doesn't have to suffer because we're in a que with someone who won't use the designated areas.:)

I will stick to the areas ,although i smoke i dont inflict it on anyone and am quite used to being a social leper.

Odd. I was in the parks May 31, June 1-2 and I noticed that people were NOT smoking. I only saw a few people smoking in the line for Crush at the Studios, but that really was it. I"m also very sensitive to the smell of smoke and it would have driven me crazy if guests were smoking so much in the parks.
